@Memero Not only that but Fortnite is fun and special because you can build, take that away and u have a boring game. People like you just suck at the game hop off and go play ur league of legends
That's, actually normal for Fortnight. The game is dominated by buildmasters like these. And sometimes you even see two guys like these wrap buildings around eachother, cover hundreds of feet around, and even into the sky.
@@TheDurid1 Well, yeah, that’s pretty much every encounter once you reach a certain high level in ranked. You got height, you win. That’s Fortnite in a nutshell. Once you understand this, you fight for height. When everyone in the lobby understand this, you get what you just described.
@@LtKregorov Building height advantage where you can peek shot with shotgun is incredibly strong, so it was what the better builder would go for in nearly every case before I just switched to no build. Some people find the building aspect fun, but I prefer it being more punishing to get caught out. Different skill sets to be fair.
Yup, that's about right. Some people say video games aren't constructive, Fortnight shows that people will construct in the midst of a bloody firefight. I've seen videos where it devolves into two people aggressively building in melee range at each other until one finally figures out building doesn't do damage, brings out a weapon, and makes the other guy rage. It's fun to watch, though almost completely incomprehensible.
When I first tried the game, I thought it would be 2 big teams building huge fortresses together and then go on epic sieges for hours, which would have been cool. Instead, this is what I found. 100% accurate.
As someone who got into Fortnite when it was only what is now "Save the World," I am convinced that is the same thought the developers has as well. If you look at some of the older trailers for Fortnite BR it really leans into this idea too. What it became instead was a different monster entirely.
I think that's save the world mode. The two big teams you're talking about is On the old 50v50 where you have time to build a fortress before pvp starts. I kinda want 50v50 back tbh
Oh god, you're describing Source Forts for HL2. I dumped hundreds of hours into that game in 2009, I still remember some old tricks to make really awesome bunkers.
Yeah pretty much. One shot in their general direction and they instantly turn into a 10 story building. I played it when it first came out and everyone was still a noob. That's when the game was fun. The 50 v 50 mode was also awesome. Then I got bored and deleted it. When a friend asked me to setup a match I re-downloaded it and this was my experience. Haven't touched it since.
the first time i played fortnite was exactly this, i somehow made it to the final 5 players, and found myself against masters of the mystic arts, constructing pathways in the middle of the air for themselves to run across and appear behind me

I think a lot of people don't know that Fortnite was originally a P2W zombie horde survivor game. The build-mode was one of the primary aspects of protecting the objective. I actually liked the original concept. Now, people only know it as a battle royale.
I actually enjoyed the game play it's building mechanics distinguished dead from all other games in the genre Problem was it was only fun when I played with my friends so when they stopped I did too

Was waiting for someone to throw a miracle nade that found its way into the second building, down the hall, bounced off the bathroom wall, and rolled right up next to the snipers feet.
omg that is soo freaking true, i tried the game too recently. I actually kinda like it, but i prefer to run in the no build mode. Not only is the build mode annoying, it also means that old time players have waaaay too big advantages over new players. While no build mode, you just gotta rely on skill, eyesight and reflexes... the build mode allows players who have been around for ages to just whip out their build mode and build a castle 3 sec flat. You as a newbie, however, have to check over what you can build and where the snap points are and god knows what else... as if keeping track of your guns wasnt enough for starters.
"While no build mode, you just gotta rely on skill, eyesight and reflexes" then you say "You as a newbie, however, have to check over what you can build and where the snap points are and god knows what else... as if keeping track of your guns wasnt enough for starters." so no build is for lesser skilled players
@@Sly2BandOfThievesIsTheBestSly what the hell are you talking about? I was comparing the build and no build mode. In no build you just have to rely on your reflexes, eyesight and skill with guns and your character, while in build mode you also have to learn what, where and how to build. Old time players have that advantage that they just set up their bunker in about 5 seconds while you (as a newbie) would have to waddle around several minutes just to get the roof and 4 walls up. You dont have the "time" to waste to even try and build cover because you get blown to pieces when it goes down. So in no build, this little issue is removed and no sudden walls pop up in a second while you are trying to shoot someone. Instead they have to get to cover the old fashioned way... running and dodging your shots or firing back. Calling it a mode for lesser skilled though is not exactly correct because the skill of building is omitted while you still need to have skill in aiming, hiding and other skills you would need in a 3rd or FPS shooter games. So if you only know how to beat players with building, no wonder you look down on the no build option because it is apparent that your other skills are not up to par with the players in the no build options. Now if you are a newbie and dont know much about anything, then having to learn building aside from all the shooting, dodging and gun management, its just another thing to learn that just slows you down, especially if you have to go against anyone who can build their bunkers in a couple of seconds. That is why the no build mode is better for newbies because they can focus on learning most of how the game works without having too much thrown on them at the very start. They still arent going to fare well against a well skilled player tough.
I see now what you are saying, but it would've been more obvious if you had phrased it a different way. Because of the "just" (and maybe 'gotta' etc.) I interpreted it in another way. Maybe if you used the word 'only' or something. I guess I first saw it as you saying you just need skill in no-build, meanwhile in build mode you just whip up a castle. Although if I read it a few more times I maybe would've got what you were saying because you were talking about old time players@@starfall17
I heard they had a no-build mode that was extremely fun, I thought that mode became the new main mode and building was a side mode or something, but ig I misunderstood that bit. But this does sum-up first time experiences I remember when I first played it long ago lol
Building is still the main mode, but Zero Build has become so popular that it’s unofficially the main mode, to the point the Chapter 4 island was designed with Zero Build in mind
Feels very much relateable. I did play some Fortnite with a friend, and how fast others build stuff, or how good they were at hitting you while you simply try to get used to the weapons was... frustrating. Especially since you got spawned into games with what felt like long time players.
To be fair, there's still Zero Builds mode if you don't want any of the building. And you can always just try and land in a really far away place that's bound to be secluded. Also, they have Skill Based Matchmaking so if you just started for the first time, it should've put you in a match full of AI and maybe a few very unskilled players.
Accurate; the few times I've played after trying the regular BR mode was in No Build. It definitively plays better in the latter, IMO. Otherwise, you basically have to learn space magic to instant-build houses around you. And I ain't no wizard.
@@ayokel9194 or he can keep dunking on you in no build mode. This. I had actually got a founders pack and waa playing the save the world mode when it first came out and I really loved it. But then the BR came out and moved the focus from the actual Story mode. It was such a shame

Great video! :D I tried it for some time too and I found out that when you play in build mode and not build at all, most of the players were somehow surprised that I ignored that "feature" completely. Most of them I could easily frag because they were more busy with building then with shooting back. Of course if you come to the last quarter of the round the players are not that unexperienced anymore. However I had a lot of rounds where I was among the last 3 players and I just waited until the other 2 were building and fighting to the end. It happened very often that the remaining player was too hectical and often fell down from his buildings ending up to be more or less a one shot for me. :) P.S.: I wished they would have completed the original Co-op mode, which was the original intention of the game. It sounded really nice and fun! There the building stuff would have made a lot of sense and would have been rather exciting I guess.

My son convinced me to start playing last month and this perfectly captures how I felt when I first played! (It's also why I play Zero Build; it's all I can do to keep my guns and other items straight, let alone remember how to build in the heat of battle!)

Perfection. I told my kid, "We're either playing Zero Build or you can forget about having Daddy around." --- Not sure my phrasing was what it should have been, but he's a Zero Build kid now.
This still makes it look way more fun than it actually is. 95% of all battle royale games is wandering around an empty map and scavenging before getting killed by a sniper you can't see.
But they're still the same pathetic losers in real life.
@@LtKregorov Building height advantage where you can peek shot with shotgun is incredibly strong, so it was what the better builder would go for in nearly every case before I just switched to no build. Some people find the building aspect fun, but I prefer it being more punishing to get caught out. Different skill sets to be fair.
boring old meme
Yup, that's about right. Some people say video games aren't constructive, Fortnight shows that people will construct in the midst of a bloody firefight.
I've seen videos where it devolves into two people aggressively building in melee range at each other until one finally figures out building doesn't do damage, brings out a weapon, and makes the other guy rage. It's fun to watch, though almost completely incomprehensible.
you are so clueless lol its hilarious
Yeah. I personally can’t box fight for the life of me so if I’m playing competitively I’ll just have to AR spam my opponent 😅
@@nori87 isn't 50v50 still in the game? Unless team rumble is not the same

The 50 v 50 mode was also awesome. Then I got bored and deleted it. When a friend asked me to setup a match I re-downloaded it and this was my experience. Haven't touched it since.

Someone random wearing the peely skin actually teamed up with me when I first started one of my first matches, he used the hug emote , and we just drove around jumping people in zero build.
I love peelys ever since from that day forward.
I think a lot of people don't know that Fortnite was originally a P2W zombie horde survivor game. The build-mode was one of the primary aspects of protecting the objective. I actually liked the original concept. Now, people only know it as a battle royale.
100% accurate. They just beat others in that genre to market share and keep it with marketing and events, despite the gameplay.

These animations are so good, cant get enough of them, they are always spot on
omg that is soo freaking true, i tried the game too recently. You as a newbie, however, have to check over what you can build and where the snap points are and god knows what else... as if keeping track of your guns wasnt enough for starters.
btw... we want more!!! at least i do, i dont know about others :D

P.S.: I wished they would have completed the original Co-op mode, which was the original intention of the game. It sounded really nice and fun! There the building stuff would have made a lot of sense and would have been rather exciting I guess.
