- Changing Minecraft's Phantom code. Phantoms are one of the most hated mobs in Minecraft 1.16, 1.17 and 1.18, so I decided to make them even worse! I experimented with Minecraft's code, changed it and made a mod that adds dumb changes and additions to the Phantoms that are absolutely funny and hilarious. Speed running / doing a speed run of this mod would definitely be quite a minecraft but challenge.

I want a mod download where every phantom that spawns has a random chance of one of these effects. You might get an item stealer, a you stealer, a giant phantom, or a goofy one that does aggressive barrel rolls towards you.
Don't forget the one that steals your dogs!

Maybe it should be a progressive thing.
Night 3: regular phantoms.
Night 4: they steal items.
Night 6: they can pick up mobs. (20 hearts or less)
The idea of phantoms being able to drag you around is actually a cool idea

@@airplanes_aren.t_real I think another possible risk is that if they see a mob they will try and dive towards the mob so you have to continually make sure you are not diving towards the ground. Since this by its self is more of a annoyance then anything let’s say if you get attacked by another phantom or get to close to the ground it will make you dismount.
imagine your elytra broke and you havent slept in a few days so you just go and lasso a phantom and fly to your friends base to get a new elytra

Those phantoms attacking the ender dragon remind me so much of tiny birds attacking hawks and eagles in real life and it’s great lol.
I wanna see the most cursed thing you can come up with that's server-only and maintains compatibility with vanilla clients. Go wild.
Heres an idea for a mod : all mob ai is randomized. so whenever something spawns, the game selects a random ai from the pool of ais, and assigns it to the entity. Ive always wanted to see that but didnt know how to make it myself.

Also the reason the ender dragon gets yeeted, is that ender dragons push all mobs away. so if an ender dragon starts riding on something, it pushes away whatever its riding, but it gets pulled in the same direction, so it just hits mach 3

Yeah! that way, every creature has its own AI quirk. Would make for a great addition if every mob had slightly randomised features, so they all looked unique as well... Both of these things are actually done by Rain World, which is a fantastic game with amazing AI.

Imagine an ender dragon blowing up, villager bartering, creepers giving you mining fatigue, a tameable wither, and riding a warden with a saddle, and trolling someone on your survival server.

I think the Phantom bringing mobs *to you* would be a great way to make them menacing and not annoying.
There should probably be a cap on how high they can lift you and other friendly mobs up so they don't just insta-kill.
I think another thing about them that should be changed is they should spawn mid to late game (because they drop an item that repairs elytras) as well as not being tied to sleep because people usually just want to mind their business and build stuff. Maybe they start spawning after you go to the end?
Also a killer idea might be somehow taming them to carry you temporarily by feeding them something around mid-game, since elytras are just the better option for flight but that would be a bit more extreme of a mod.
Maybe they should spawn in the soul sand valley by default, but after getting an advancement for being picked up by one, insomnia turns on. They should also eat something like warped grass or soul weeds (bonemeal soul soil or soul sand to get some black tendrils that look like grass had a baby with soul sand)...

@@alexmercer9763 people usually hate them cuz they dont like sleeping (or in mutliplayer, sleeping isnt always the easiest) and thats really about it, anything else about them is just excuses cuz they're not any worse that other hostile mobs, they're a bit hard to hit but do little damage anyway so eh

I wonder if it's possible to change their dropping behavior depending on the entity they target or pick up? Because phantoms could be a crazy menace if they start grabbing nearby evil mobs and dropping them from a safe height near the player.
But at the same time if they grab a villager or the player, they want to drop you as high as possible.
Modify endermites (or silverfish) next, I'm pretty sure they are second to most hated mob

This is great lol. A phantom expansion mod seems like it’d be pretty great, thinking about it. I’ll definitely have to look for one of those next time I’m playing minecraft.
Only thing missing from this mod is some spawn mechanic changes to make them more common and an end specific phantom that drops you in the void like the nether drops you in lava, lol. Excuse it by saying the end is too dark and sleepy so you can’t make them go away rofl
Take the most hated mobs in the game and just make them 10 times worse
Even just adjusting the animation makes them more interesting, having more motion in the wing flaps, barrel rolling when they swoop, I love the idea that they slowly get stronger each time the hit you so you can't just ignore them too
Zombies actually infect you. Your take on it would be cool. Because many times it’s completely changing the way zombies work, but one that is closer to vanilla would be cool.
6:44 So, knowing nothing about code, I have an idea as to what might be happening. My guess is that the dragon is flinging the phantoms when they collide with it, much like it flings the player way up into the air, but at the same time the phantom is picking it up. So it winds up getting carried away at ridiculous speeds by the flung phantom.
It makes sense for phantoms to be able to grab stuff and I think that makes them better as a mob.
I actually love Phantoms, they make the game a bit more challenging and look absolutely gorgeous.
This looks awesome! The grabbing thing reminds me of predatory birds swooping down to steal small animals, and sometimes even little deer.
Is there any way to download this mod? Or is this just a showcase of a fun thing you did?
No way to download it currently, but I'm thinking of making something like a patreon where people who wanna support me can download all of these mods
The ender dragon pushes nearby entities away. Thing is, the phantom is pulling the dragon at the same speed, so it keeps getting pushed and is flung away!

The idea of Phantoms carrying you is amazing.
So here is a Phantom Rework idea
There are 5 Different Types of Phantoms
Snatchers: They lunge at you and steal arrows,armor, weapons and then valuables. Signified with talons
Carriers: Either Pick you or mobs up. If they carry you for 15 seconds you will be dropped. Carriers try to pick up Creepers to bomb you. Signified with Bigger wings
Swarmers: If a Swarmer spawns, 3 pre-rework phantoms spawn with it. Every time a swarmer dives, all 3 minions dive. If multiple swarmers are nearby they will form a Hive. Hives are made of 3 Swarmers and at least 9 Minions. Hives spawn a minion for every hit a Swarmer deals. Hives have bright yellow eyes and Swarmers have a mark on their underbelly
Embers: the red nether variant, they pick you up and drop you into lava OR steal gold on you whether it’s equipped armor or gold ingots
Shadows: The End Variant they are pitch black except for purple eyes and claws on the end of their wings. They dive down to grab you and if they hit, they teleport you somewhere random within 50 blocks. If you are within 50 blocks of the edge/void They will teleport you above the void before dropping you after 2 seconds (so you don’t instantly die)

So, I think what happens is that the phantom picks up the dragon, but the dragon’s wings yeet the phantom far away, but since the dragon is now attached to the phantom, it goes spiraling with it.

honestly if the entire mod was just the spinning phantoms, I'd get it
This is pretty tame. How about:
A phantom called the Stuka that is immune to explosion damage, causes explosions when it attacks an entity, and makes the Stuka siren noise as it flies and a more intense siren when it dive bombs you. It should also dive bomb and destroy the roof of your house so it can make another dive bomb attempt on you when your no longer under a roof. It of course should be hostile to every entity that isn’t a phantom.

I think what happened in the end is that the ender dragon has an always active "pusher" hitbox around herself, with, well, pushes entities.
what probably happened is that when a phantom grabbed the dragon, said pusher tried to push away the phantom, but since the phantom was holding the dragon, it just resulted in a "push pull" loop of sorts with then caused the pair to be "flinged" off into the distance

Okay, but this is actually kind of a cool idea. It'd be cool to see something like this as an actual balanced mechanic, rather than a proof of concept
This is now what phantoms do when minecraft hardcore was updated.
Seeing that Phantom pick up the Creeper reminded me of RLCraft, where one of the modded mobs can carry Creepers and will bring them to drop them on you if they see you.

I think the ender dragon's knockback is affecting the phantom it is mounted to, and is knocking itself back

I believe what's going on is that the dragon is footballing the the phantom, but since the phantom is carrying the dragon, it ends up moving itself really fast until the phantom dies.

I would really like to see villagers. You can trade with them but if you hit one, it’s not an iron golem that will kill you but an horde of angry villagers wielding the tools that fit their job
To explain the dragon being yeeted the dragons Hitbox pushes entities away since the Phantom is grabbing it it's pushing the dragon as well

A explosive phantom is called a kamikaze
Phantom but it shares WOLF and PARROT ai. Hovers above you like normal phantom but swoops down to attack anything you attack. Rests on your shoulder as well

if we can tame them it would be nice that in combat they can carry the opponent or steal the tools or armor, and you can make a projectile that is made with a chorus fruit and an arrow and whenever you throw it they carry you over there and you can change the direction mid-air
Lmao having a netherite sword with fire aspect 2, smite 5 and looting 3 on it makes phantoms just a fun minigame
When you get too close to the dragon, then it flings you away. i think that because the game is trying to fling the phantom away, and the dragon is attached to the Phantom it is trying to fling, it just goes crazy lol. Personally, i would keep it, but mainy because it is so amusing
