I modded my Sledge before running it stock based on my research and RUclips videos and because I enjoy this. Loved the video. I replaced the esc & motor with Mamba, ring and pinion gears along w the center diff and chassis from Vitavon. MSC shock caps and internals, basher queen shock towers, Vitavon bell crank, Reefs HD 500 raw servo, traxxas adjustable steering links, MSC hub extenders & hinge pins. 😆. My buddy has a stock Sledge with little issues, but did burn up the gears. I will take your advice about the center diff fluid. I did as 1/2 ear plug in it 😊. Love it. Appreciate your advice.
I have raced everything, forever it seems! And I agree with most everything you mentioned in this video. I ordered those same shoes, and you showed the colored wing and arms, so I searched those out for the Blue version I ordered. I ordered the blue arms, mud guards, wing, arm plates, body skids and best of all the front and rear sway bar kit, and 2,000,000 diff oil for the center diff. After those changes, this beast should rip like a Truggy on Steroids😜🤣 And Subbed Brother🤘
Why do people always say that it's a copy when truggies were have been around years before arrma, it that's the case losi or mugen, or associated could have sued anyone. It's a sad day when people are more concerned with who's suing who, and who's better than who instead of enjoying the hobby for what it is (Absolutely one of The Most Fun Things Ever!)! I personally don't give a crap about who's better as long as we are all having fun and enjoying the hobby! Great video bro, very informative! Peace to all! Keep Bashing, Keep Racing!
The links are very flexible, i had 1 very bad landing on 1 wheel and u can see in the slowmo (i got it on cam), how the entire back wheel get pushed toward the body, and flex back. driveshaft still straight (somehow). thats the reason for them ;). Well i never race, just bash. With the Sledge, Maxx, and also with the Hoss.
First RC video I have heard about the wobbling tires (that you see in most basher videos) and balancing the wheels. I come more from full size Quads and Sand rails background, so balancing is normal / standard. Thanks for the video.
Yes non-balanced wheel, keep shaking with whole truck, also raise wearing of many parts, bearings including. It was really good point from the author. Because many of us balancing aftermarket wheels like pro-lines etc...but only small amount of us, balancing stock tires.
Brilliant video. Thank you so much. I have a sledge on order, very excited. Liked and subscribed. Keep up the great informative content. John. Ps I think this sledge looks to me like one on the best rc's ever made.
Great review Mark. Yes you know me I'm a basher and racer. Wow 20M in the center is nuts. Traxxas has to go less with there fluids. 1M center would be fine 🙂
Really nice video. True about batteries. I will use one 4S pack also. Because why making heavier tank which is enough heavy itself? Do you recommend add sway bars or not? I also hesitating to buy SRC Monster Truck Terrain Crusher Belted tires together with the car, but i don't know if they fits, because of low offset. Also wheelie bar as Rustler 4x4 has, could be in the stock Sledge. Wing lines are good, but not for hard surface. I have ordered Sledge more than week ago, but i still love my Slash 4x4 :) Btw tires you chosen are really good but i hate white wheels which looks ugly on so nice truck like Sledge is, for me.
People don't strip rings and pinions on a Maxx because most people run it on 4s. Lets see how they hold up in a truck that weighs 30% more and has 50% more power
Great video. Goes over lots of intracicies that many people miss. Would like to see your opinion on other new cars. Do you think swaybars would help the handling?
I do not have a Kraton, I do have a Talion and i have the Sledge. I really like the sledge, but i think saying "better" is very subjective. Out of the box, yes, I would say the Sledge tops the Kraton, however, the Kraton is more scalable. If you want to start with a beast and dont plan on upgrading much. The traxxas is the one. If you want to start withe a beast and build it into a monster. . . the Arrma is probably the way to go. I like both, i really do, but im still not sure the extra 200.00 is worth it for everyone.
The 20 mill in the center is to help with balloning. If you keep the front tires the same speed as the back wheen it wheelie it doesn't diff out as easy. The problem is the tires are so soft that had to put 20mill pretty much ear plugs in center to help try and stop ballooning the tires so quick as we seen the tires are junk on this truck. Even with traxxas doing wat ppl do to arrmas to help from diffin out it still blow tires apart and I'll add at a slower speed than the kraton out of the box. So not really better in every way. Careful your fan Boi is showing.
@@ParkflyersRC ok. If you say so. Guess ear plugging my 3 different arrmas and it completely helping with the balooning was a fluke. Since it doesn't diff out sending all the power to the front wheels Since when you take off the rear tires get more traction with lightweight fluid it allows itself diff to send all the power to the front wheels. Then when I ear plugged it and it can no longer send all the power to the front wheels keeping them the same speed as the rear. Now keeping the front and rear lighter allows the diffs work left to right but people absolutely lock up the center with ear plugs to keep it from diffibg out the front. Maybe instead of just pretending to know what your talking about Maybe just use common sense or watch 90% of the videos on ppl talking about how to fix the kraton from diffing out the front wheels guess those ppl are wrong to even with video proof it helps fix it.
So then i have to buy a different charger and change the wiring to accommodate a new battery. Not going through all that nonsense. And it doesn't need a fan. If im going to chsnge the tires i might as well just buy a race kit. Theres nothing wrong with the sledgehammer tires. And theres nothing wrong with the traxxas batteries. Ive never had any issues with them.
I'm not doing all of that, if I'm going to put those other tires on it I might as well buy a race kit. The thing is already $700 Traxxas knew what they were doing. There's nothing wrong with the sledgehammer tires. I've had no problems with my sledge. You don't need a different lipo and different tires. All of that stuff doesn't make it better, it's fine the way it is, Traxxas knows best for their products. If they thought that stuff made a difference then they would have put race tires on it.
No one is forcing anyone to do anything. I’m just giving an opinion. I had a customer buy a brand new sledge. We sold his brand, new wheels and tires and The Hobby Shop for 60 bucks. And then he to buy a 4S pack like I suggest, which is less money. so the money he got back from selling the tires and the money he saved on the smaller battery he invested into the new wheels and tires. Not a big deal. The car handles and jumps better. No cogging. Could handle more aggressive, gearing, etc.. I respect your opinion. But you need to also just listen to a Hobby shop owner that does this for a living. I have a lot of happy customers that are running the sledge, exactly as I have said, and they are all super happy
Clearly you are traxxas bias. The fact that you use the word better....there's not enough data available on this car to say wheter it's better or not. I run both arrma and traxxas. And thers pros and cons to both.matter of fact there are pros and cons to all rcs. I can't wait toget my hands on the sledge. 1 of the biggest drawbacks to this car is the price. If they really wanna blow Arrma out the water is to lower the price of the car.
Data ? I have been selling Arrma since it’s inception. Work on them all day. Know them well. I mention that the Arrma Kraton applies power better than Traxxas due to better choice of stock diff fluids. So I’m objective. The sledge is a better car from a durability standpoint, better electronics , easier to take apart ( yes I have ). As for performance I will say the sledge feels more alive with its 2000kv motor. Can gear UP with lower temps. More torque than the Arrma motor. The Sledge also has higher quality bearings ( Taiwan vs China ). It also jumps better and has more air control. That said the Arrma Kraton is awesome and is a very special car. At 599 it’s a much better deal. The Sledge is a better car. No way around it.
@@ParkflyersRC my point is most ppl don't have the car to say that it is more durable. The car isn't officially released and the majority of the public has not had the car long enough to say whether it's truly more durable over time.
This guy knows what hes talking about. Great honest performance review.
Thanks
Also, common sense evaluation of the Sledge, subscribed!

Really like this video. Very well done and great information for me as a new Sledge owner.
Well the truck still together. I really tried working on the Arrma 6s truck. I work on the truck more than I drive it.

Nice job Mark. You know how many 6s Arrmas we've been thru. Can't wait to grab this.
Thank for the nice post !!

Looking for help to install max6 inn my sledge that extra wire/plug is that for sensor motor
Thanks for the information i can't wait to get my hands on a traxxas sledge it looks awesome and stay safe ✌️
Awesome you’re gonna love it

Great tips but the 20 mill actually keeps from ballooning but will be more aggressive and more better for wheelies and such like u said
Traxxas did plastic links cause plastic flexes metal bends

awsome vid great info on the sledge
Thank you so much ! Appreciate that !
Looks good with the race wheels. Like it was made for it.

Thanks !! 1 or 2 million
Just ordered one myself was scared to buy an arrma because of all the diff and chassis issues. Sledge seems to be a strong contender
Enjoy
Do you have a link for those cheap tire balancer that comes with the clay?
PF RC: "You cant get sued for making a better product..."
Arrma Fanboys: "Emotional damage!!"
LOL!!

Awesome rig!!!

Yes. Sway bars will help for sure. Especially on harder surfaces. We should be getting , installing and making video soon. Stay tuned
Good great to know I got my upgrades yesterday to

ARRMA = $$$$ on parts !
Traxxas = $ on the purchase of the over built rc and less on parts .
Dang you make me not want to get this rc. I really like it but you mention so many things to do to it. I thought it was ready to run

They did lower the price. I picked one up last week for $700. $100 dollars off. Now its quite a competitively priced car for what you get.
