Jexus has the best synth demos ever because he shows the extreme capabilities of every synth. From sweet and calm pads to the absolute destructive chaos, and everything in between, whilst avoiding all the common, easily duplicated, traditional synth sounds. I'm not ashamed to admit this is why I've impulse purchased so many synths. Because his demos are that good.
Yes. There is a function in the menu that you can set to make them run in tandem. Now, I've never tried this but I know that it was designed for that. What I don't know and really want to is if running 2 MS2000's means you can have up to 6 mod sequences going at the same time, 2 arpeggiators and up to 4 multi-timbrality. I'm currently looking to buy a second one because it fits in perfectly with the what my band is doing.
Always awesome , we're drinking and grappling stuff with our home made grappling hook right now! About to retrieve some old shoes from a roof with the grappling hook and getting pumped to the the ms2000 riffs , thanks Jexus!
I am an old guy in his mid 50's and I love this guys demo's strangely enough he needs to be in Hollywood doing something that's for sure. Keep up the good demos from an old time synth player you do a very good job.
nord lead 2x vs korg ms 2000 who wins? I had both. Totally different sounding synths. MS2000 has this wide cut at mid frequencies and sounds very soft, quite oldschool. In terms of color it reminds me of Roland Alpha Juno. It's difficult to make it sound bad. The sequencer is pure joy! Nord Lead 2x has a cutting, bright, buzzy sound and you really need to use 2 voice unison to get the fatness of MS2000. It's more clinical sounding thand MS. Nord is more punchy, though. MS has this smear over the sound and if you want to get it close to Nord sound you have to use a good exciter. MS has more waveforms to offer and is much more flexible and you can coax greater variety of sounds with it. Nord has good FM and morphing, though. Filters are weak points of both synths as they both thin the sound considerably when you boost the resonance, although MS2000 filter exhibits some character while doing this and Nord's filter simply sounds thin and imparts a slightly metallic, sparkly quality to the sound which is actually nice for polysynth lead sounds, but for basses or fat fitersweeped pads? Forget it. You have to use LP+Notch for those in order to retain the low end. I first had the Nord, then a few years later I bought the MS2000. When I got it and started tweaking it I said to myself: Oh, why didn't I buy this one in the very beginning of my synth career? I'd spare some headaches :) I regret selling the MS. Might buy one again. It's a very, very, very useful synth.
I like your style and the flickering faded video. I must admit, the scary skeleton was frightening. I think your among the better synth demo guys on youtube. Peace.
I have seen a LOT, and i mean A L O T of synth demos on youtube, but this far surpasses everything i have ever seen. You sir are a god among men! This is going in my studio.
I so agree with 1787 dude and others here, this guy is a synth-god! I love his videos, and would surely use many of these riffs into compositions. Every time he plays a synth I want it!! I do have a few VA's though; what heaven for a creative mind who loves to explore sound...life can be so good
Damn, that synth is out of control bad ass... Also really like your video work... Shot with a VHS camcorder? Or ran through a VHS player and re-recorded? Anyways, great job... Cool synth, cool tunes, awesome video.
I just got my hands on a rack module off Craigslist for $280. Thanks for this awesome demo, as it was one of my main inspirations for tracking down this synth. Now, if I can only figure out how to program patches with this much awesome...
That's why you buy the rack version and run them together for 8 voices. This is supposed to be the new generation of the MS20.which was monophonic. I own one of these it's the most fun out of all my other synths.
@LittleNegrillio who cares how many presets something has... learn how to build a patch from the ground up so you can make your own ORIGINAL music! With the exception of maybe 5-10 patches, I rewrite just about everything that comes stock on a synth. The presets in my mind are just to give you an idea of the variety of sounds it can produce, not what you should use to make music.
you do the best synth demos on youtube,, I wish moog, dave instrumentes and such let their demos to be done by real musician instead on engineers without any artistic and aestetic feel.
@charliecromo no prob you're welcome. also lfo 1 is assigned to controller 2 of oscillator one. and lfo 2 is assigned to the mod wheel. but if you google it you can also assign the mod wheel to midi 2 of the virtual patch giving it more options. sorry they don't allow links here. and lfo 2 has a sign wave and lfo 1 has a triangle. the only difference of waves between them.
@Synthesized13 the korgms2000b is my first synth, i just did my homework. a or b it was just cheaper at the time. i also was bidding on the ion. not too long ago. but i'll say my p.o.v. esq 1 great. people have a hard time with fm synthesis. trial and error if you want the work. $200 w/o shipping with new battery tops. you just wait if you lose a bid. cold sounding but i like it. more expensive is akai ax 80 but more for the noisier faction and i'm a sucker for flashing things. ms2000. people
@boisbrut The MS2K sounds like this no matter what if you're running the synth only. If you didn't know this synth was designed to emulate older analog synths while maintaining easy programming. The only way you can get this to sound more modern is by using post effects and doubling it up to the rack unit version for more polyphony and oscillators.
awesome demo, I should show my rackmount version some more love, wish it could store more patches or at least have a freed up user bank so I didn`t have to overwrite stuff when I program it, yes I know I can kinda use a computer for that but would rather not have to bother
Is 6:27 a tweaked "belly" patch? That's the only one that sounds slightly familiar. Your mastery of this instrument is truly awe inspiring! I am officially a fan! Thank you!
@jeanfatale you're definitely right. maybe one of the virtual patches is to cutoff and another virtual patch is to one of the eg's. that would explain for the delay. but an lfo would be suspect by what he modulated it from. hence the weirdness. mod one lfo to pitch and second cutoff to eg 1 or 2 i'm guessing but no one can truly learn by themselves.
@lvrsnvy This synth (when it came out) was competing with the Nord lead and the JP 8000..virtual analog was pretty new at the time and this was a lot more affordable....you could buy one of these and a rack version, link them together and still be less than a Nord lead....I think these guys are going for $500-$800 on ebay now...well worth it. Mini Moog has One voice Polyphony...and you can still do a lot with that...oh yes.
I've never played the MS2000 but I patched a RADIAS a couple of times. You would probably set the basic sound with the oscillators (the starting basic sound), filters, envelopes (how does the sound behaves in time, fading in or starting fast, etc) and then you would apply effects and modulation with LFO's and envelopes to different parameters. In this synth, you could have two of those sounds layered up, but you would have less polyphony. They would be stored in the synth's internal memory :)
I appreciate the response! What does that mean exactly? Did he sequence something and split the key board? Can you play over top a sequenced pattern? Its very cool and eye opening watching this man work...
@culturaleyes Indeed as said by alterstate the microkorg has the same sound engine as the MS2000(B) but less (allmost none) on the fly knobs to tweak. On the secondhandmarket the micro changes owner for 100 Euro less then the MS2000. Better to save up that extra bit.
@charliecromo low frequency oscillators. they produce no sound but rather modify the sound. if you patch one to the amplitude then the whole sound woobles. yes on one lfo there is a sine. and yes you can make it wooble from as slow as a rollercoaster to as fast as zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and everything in between. this is good at bass not the best. at the lowest you have to tinker but you can find something nice without aliasing. even goes so low it's hard to hear. but really a fun synth.
far better than my jp8000(only good for strings for me)and easier to edit than the korg r3(ok the r3 had a specific editor for pc/mac )but who wants to switch on his computer to make music?
I didn't know you could do that, would I do this using the Midi-through interface? Anything else that needs to be set? Otherwise I really like this synth.
How did you get the sound at 6:50? Ive been racking my brain and manhandling my MS2000 trying to figure it out. Can you or someone out there explain? I didn't see the Arp button lit or the MOD sequence playing. What did you do man?! ah!!!!!
Do you think the microkorg can do any of this? It is said that the microkorg has the same sounds as this but after watching these vids I have serious doubts
@Synthesized13 don't like the limited voices but it's great hands on in almost every factor. i like it. get one for $400 w/o shipping tops. ion. heard better for it's quality of sound. but i guess you can't pound on the keys extremely hard. i saw this go for $300-600 hard to tell. i got outbid on the high end. the rest i don't know. but i believe this guy's page and says the dx-7 is a pain to program. the rest i don't know. but get your favorite for cheap by waiting. also ask around. sorry.
can someone tell me how you would go about creating your own sounds on a synth like this. If one were to reset all presets and start from the ground up. And where would they be saved? Thanks. great video by the way, love it.

This guy is totally out of his mind... In a cool way.
He also seems to own every synthesizer known to man.
Yes. There is a function in the menu that you can set to make them run in tandem. Now, I've never tried this but I know that it was designed for that. James Olson you win the absolute strangest comment on any synth demo I’ve ever seen 🙌🏽
incredible tool in the proper hands!
man i miss your vids Jex, hope you are doing fine
This guy makes fucking crazy sci-fi/horror sounds. I love it.
I am an old guy in his mid 50's and I love this guys demo's strangely enough he needs to be in Hollywood doing something that's for sure. Keep up the good demos from an old time synth player you do a very good job.
That's not old
***** Thanks
Bought it in year 2000 , feels that people love him much today as early...

I just bought the rackmount-version of this beast, it should arrive someday next week, I can't wait! :D
this stuff that start at 06.58 is just amazing!

Well played Jexus, well played. Happy Birthday Jexus
6:50 to 7:45........WOW!!!
Damn, that synth is out of control bad ass... Also really like your video work... Shot with a VHS camcorder? Or ran through a VHS player and re-recorded? Anyways, great job... Cool synth, cool tunes, awesome video.
thanks for all you awesome demos!!!

Awesome stuff - very original & inspirational videos. Keep it up.
You are so musical. I really loved this demo.
have a broken one sitting next to me … the DC input jack is loose so will solder it back on to PCB thanks for the inspiration!
wow this vid has really made me kinda go on to the ms 2000's side from the minimoog voyager
i really like the way you did it too
That's why you buy the rack version and run them together for 8 voices. This is supposed to be the new generation of the MS20.which was monophonic. I own one of these it's the most fun out of all my other synths.
Damn dude you ran the gambit, that was intense. I own one of these and was considering selling it, not anymore!!!!!
way to squeeze out some sick sound, good job man
4:15 was fucking beautiful! So alive!
VERY COOL presentation!
Dude you are a genius mad scientist on this.....
Mistrzostwo. Podziwiam...:)
great video and sounds
Youre the Synth Master

Sounds better than the Access Virus synths
i love your beats man. there so ominous and evil haha
like bloody beetroots style
so awesome!
amazing!!
hahah this is awesome. I think you're doing life right
you do the best synth demos on youtube,, I wish moog, dave instrumentes and such let their demos to be done by real musician instead on engineers without any artistic and aestetic feel.
this thing is cool
Sweet vid man! The MS2000 is dope! Wish I hadn't sold mine :)
The patch at @3:52 is so good.
Awesome.. Just Snagged The Rack Version Off Guitar Center.
I'm about to get me one as well..... damn this was an awesome video
such a fucking dude! deffo gonna pick one of these up i think!
I cant belive these sounds are from a MS2000, I have one of my own (MS2000R). But creating sounds like these must be super hard... >.
The MS2000 is my baby!
$200 w/o shipping with new battery tops. you just wait if you lose a bid. cold sounding but i like it. more expensive is akai ax 80 but more for the noisier faction and i'm a sucker for flashing things. ms2000. people

I feel completely inadequate. Your science is too damn tight.
the ending is awesome, such a phat and evil sound, how did you make it?
awesome demo, I should show my rackmount version some more love, wish it could store more patches or at least have a freed up user bank so I didn`t have to overwrite stuff when I program it, yes I know I can kinda use a computer for that but would rather not have to bother
@jeanfatale i think the two lfo modulations or virtual patch. one is to the cutoff at double the speed as the other lfo to pitch or something.
jonsat1: HOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!1
jonsat1: this video
jonsat1: makes me SO FUCKING WET
@666laughingtarget thanks a lot for the answer!
Is 6:27 a tweaked "belly" patch? That's the only one that sounds slightly familiar. Your mastery of this instrument is truly awe inspiring! I am officially a fan! Thank you!
agreed!
9:20 is just the sound I need...

F’n epic…
10:20....cool!
will be done with a sawtooth - and square wave at different octvies probably. with a delayed LFO assigned to the pitch.
To sie nazywa demo a nie jakies tam pitolenie. Dzieki Olo!
PAZUZU
@charliecromo saw, pulse, tri, sine, an sample/hold... and you can set the frequency of LFO 2 as a modulation destination...
7:41 my fovourite part of this music

those dark whistles at 1:25... i neeed thisss
@xargos: yes, most of Jexus' synths are analogs, thats what I was talking about, still MS2000 is unique
great synth! i bought the rack version after seeing these and other videos. You can make some weird sounds with this synth
Retro Analog stuff...very beautifull- better prefer to say its a human mirracle!!
wow the vhs snippet in the middle was even better then the patches (btw would you be ought to sell these?)
I wish he collaborated with Liam Howlett from The Prodigy!
I appreciate the response! What does that mean exactly? Did he sequence something and split the key board? Can you play over top a sequenced pattern? Its very cool and eye opening watching this man work...

far better than my jp8000(only good for strings for me)and easier to edit than the korg r3(ok the r3 had a specific editor for pc/mac )but who wants to switch on his computer to make music?
is this really easier to customize? It looks REALLY intimidating...
@charliecromo theres a sine, triangle, square (2 of them actually), and sawtooth
0:50 head bobbing
@charliecromo don't forget the onboard eq to get your basses right.
Good sounding synth, the only limitation that bother me are the 4 voice polyphony, I guess it would be a good monophonic synth.
@xReconZerox
HAHAHA Awesome moment
xDD
i've got this same problem! :D it is one of the biggest problem in my life
3:53-4:11 My head exploded.
gosh damn the 4:00 minute mark got me goofed
I didn't know you could do that, would I do this using the Midi-through interface? Anything else that needs to be set? Otherwise I really like this synth.

@vintagedrgonzo
You know, I think there's an Inside Synthesis video that covers exactly what you're asking.
Do you own all of these synths or do you own a music store and just use them to make the vidoes?
@Synthesized13 don't like the limited voices but it's great hands on in almost every factor. i like it. get one for $400 w/o shipping tops. ion. heard better for it's quality of sound. but i guess you can't pound on the keys extremely hard. i saw this go for $300-600 hard to tell. i got outbid on the high end. the rest i don't know. but i believe this guy's page and says the dx-7 is a pain to program. the rest i don't know. but get your favorite for cheap by waiting. also ask around. sorry.

5:21 is very Kraftwerk-esque. Specifically, Autobahn.
lol I think you are a fan of PowerRangers huh!? ^^ Seriously you're good
