    I'm glad you mentioned that STC and NMOT are not the same thing. It's a problem that many consumers don't seem to understand. The STC rating often doesn't happen in real life because those ratings, like you said, are measured inside a lab with perfect conditions.

    Hi Dale, just heard from our installer that REC Alpha Pure 420 KW panels are no longer being manufactured. Fact or fiction? Also spoke to their competitor and they said that the price is going up as of Aug 1 ‘24 but still very much available. Do you have any insight on that? Thanks a million on any info.

    • @dalerolph
      @dalerolph  6 месяцев назад +2

      @@fleurdelis1982 I haven’t heard of any changes from REC. The Alpha Pure 2 is a gap panel to the RX and was replacing the first generation Alpha Pure. The RX is expected to ship later this year, and will be very powerful at around 460-watts. Availability of products varies from location to location and distribution channels. Some distributors need to go through inventory before bringing in new modules. Price increases for modules could occur but not sure yet there is a lot of inventory in the market right now, making it a great time to buy.

    Wouldn't it make more sense to compare the REC pure alpha 410 since it more closely matches the output of the "venerable" maxeon?

    I am not a superfan of Maxeon panels. I'm not saying they're bad or anything, but I believe they are a bit overpriced. Once again, that's just my opinion. It does seem like they may be less susceptible to microcracks just by the videos you're showing.

      I have heard good things about them - as I plan my solar project now I am looking at all the different brands and specs and such - one thing I don't like is that Maxeon does not have any NMOT rating anywhere I can find. Am I supposed to just believe they are the best most efficienct panels when they don't want the public to know the specs to be able to do an adequate comparison??? This alone keeps me from even considering Maxeon
