Some people will always be stupid and criticize LKY. but i have witnessed with my own eyes that many people esp singaporeans who mourned and cried and expressed their sadness when Mr LKY passed away. I have never seen any leaders in the world who was deeply respected by their own people as this man. even me, I deeply respect him and I truly admire him. Singapore is so lucky to have him as their leader. Thank you Mr. Lee.
So are most in North Korea, because you guys are brainwashed into thinking your dictator who made your life u don’t even know into a living hell, thinking of him as a ‘angel’
@@nathanchang7713 please dont give me this stupid shit. how can you compare north korea to Singapore? north korea is shit hole and many people there tried to escape the country. people are so poor. and singapore is first world country where many people even from neighbor countries try to come and stay here to make better living. you are an idiot , crackhead. please respect this man as you cant even do 1/1000 of things he did while he was alive.
@@kittenfan Go ahead be brainwashed by the Lee Family, keep on thinking LKY and LHL is your lord and savior even his own siblings is against him yet you Singaporeans still see him as an angel
@@nathanchang7713 you are one of those failures in life who blame the gov for everything. His contributions and achievements are well acknowledged worldwide from US to China. Australia and NZ paid tribute to him in their parliaments. We don’t need a whiny failure like you to tell us otherwise. Not to mention you are Canadian, not even Singaporean. Ex-Singaporean don’t count. So pathetic to want to interfere with us when your country to us is considered backward lol. You are the one brainwashed by your woke western propaganda and you are too dense to understand facts
@@nathanchang7713 i am malaysia but singapore is best country. They are so lucky that they have best leader.🇲🇾🇸🇬 we are brother
When the western democracy medias blame him is a dictator, do not ingore what he did for his country! Since this country independ on 1965, he spent two-thirty years made this country became one of Four Asian Tigers without any help from United States or Soviet Union . Also, this country could become a developed country in the world when he was dead. Millions of singaporeans have a better life quality because of this man changed this country.

I'm usually not one to cry, but I was almost brought to tears by someone's comment...
There seems to be much envy or even scornfulness from western media of the overwhelming global respect for Lee Kuan Yew, tending to focus on how he 'ruled with an iron fist', as a feeble attempt to taint his astounding achievements.
To enlighten these 'ang moh' neanderthals of the political scene in Singapore from the point of our independence in 1965,
1. Threat of chaos from the pro-communist and other extremists in the 1960-70s prompted the need for containment by force of any persons out to cause social disharmony and unrest.
2. As Singapore grew socially and economically stable from the late 1970s, and as media extended its outreach, we saw the PAP debate over affairs of the state with the opposition parties at free elections on television.
3. It was not that the opposition was suppressed and 'cracked down' as commonly sensationalised by western media, but rather that they lacked substance and had rarely any viable alternative to the wide variety of topics/ issues at hand from election to election; at every stage of Singapore's development over the past decades.
(Watch the way members of the opposition speak at the debates and see how they seem to defeat themselves in their speech every time, struggling to keep composure.)
4. Mr Lee had left his position of power as PM in 1990; it has been 2 decades now, if there was an 'iron fist' lording over Singapore that we so much depended on. Since then we have survived fine with this 'fist' shelved and even emerged as the country with the highest per capita GDP in the recent years.
So lack of freedom of speech you say? We are free to express ourselves in any way we like, without disrupting social harmony. We also like that our government is effective in resolving urgent issues with veto power, granted by the people who have voted them in. We like our pragmatist version of democracy and we like it sensibly so.
Take a look at how western complete democracy has left governments in a stymied, trying to implement crucial policies that happen to be unpopular with myopic local communities (who cannot identify with the gravity of situations, and would rather focus on their most immediate frustrations)
Take a look at the capable leaders in many western cabinets whom have obsessively devoted their resources and efforts to contend with and defame their political rivals at the expense of their people whom have voted them in to serve. Many at times, a party dismisses an important policy proposed by another, paranoid that any success made for the country from policies initiated by their rivals would put them at a disadvantage.
Should the power to make crucial decisions be left to the foolish majority? (By foolish I mean inexperienced and lacking in knowledge and expertise to make sensible decisions on an issue)
I'd say leave it to a specialised team of the best and brightest, who are able to weigh all viable options as well as consequences, making contingency plans on every choice, because such has always been our success model that the world today can only marvel at.
Darius Ng and this is almost the whole history of Singapore
Brilliantly said. I always thought as a Chinese Canadian that Lew Kuan Yew’s system was the BEST way to run a government
A true and inspiring leader. Tuly irreplaceable
It’s so sad that he passed away
And unlike the North Koreans, the grief from the public is genuine and real.
Both North Korea and Singapore are authoritative societies in their own ways. That is undeniable. However, the reason why citizens in Singapore cry genuine tears is because they went from rags to riches, from slums to well landscaped public housing. While North Koreans started from slums and still do today, and at gunpoint.
@@syafsmith5085 other than that, sg's leader was caring, unlike north korea's
@@syafsmith5085you should also find out for yourself what are the differences in governments and how the country is run of Singapore and north korea

All the Vietnamese people together so sorry receipt of the message former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew was passes away, the Vietnamese people we would be shared mourns condolences deepest sympathy to all people especially people Singapore.
Only those live through the days with him understand the amount of sacrifice he made for Singapore. Younger generations will always be a bit ignorant about such matter. It is normal. It is important to understand the sacrifice he and others made for the developement of Sinapore. He made a good example of the proper governance ( not perfect, but proper).
May god take care of the good man in heaven
Like Bruce Lee, a legend in martial arts, Lee Kuan Yew also a legendary Statesman. Not only S'poreans love him, many from other countries love him too. ❤R.I.P. Mr Lee, your honest hard work bears fruit. You have done so well!!
The best leader in the world
Lee Kuan Yew and Mustafa Kemal Ataturk are the examples of benevolent and effective authoritarian rule.

RIP😭
One word our version of "Godfather", we miss U as a father n a leader as well 🙏
It's interesting to contrast the sincere words of sorrow that Singaporeans have over Mr. Lee's death and the riotous wailing of DISPLAY by North Koreans who know they are being watched by their government.
I wished he was my leader.
The ' light ' that shine for Singapore to walk in the past and lead Singapore into an unknown future is gone. It is a tough journey ahead now.
Maybe if the African leaders and others would use their mind just like the former Singaporean Prime minister there would be alot of happiness and too many rich kids
when a leader does this in africa, they "mysteriously" die
I was in his funeral
I was in cinema
the love for their leader is something we , as an hongkonger will never understand .....The sad fact is most of the hongkongers would even curse our chief executive to die......😢
J word intellectuals seething at a nation ruled with an iron fist that puts its peoples well being first and foremost rather than ideology

LEE KUAN YEW IS NOT TOTALLY SINGAPOOR NOR MALAYSIAN... HIS PARENTS ORIGINATED FROM SEMARANG, CENTRAL JAVA, INDONESIA (WIKI).
Consider Singapore is a former British colony, and is a strategic port for trade route. Nationalities are bound to mix together. Besides, why make nationality a big deal when a person is capable?
