My late wife and I were here at this very gig and was a great evening , I agree with Wayne smith the band was the best live band to watch ,we had the luck of seeing them in every state that year as we toured around Australia when we were young well younger lol since then i lost kath but it was great times , to all you young guys and girls don't put it off till you retire do it now and enjoy life :)

This is as good as a live band gets. Those guitar tones are fire! Rob Hirst belongs among the drummer's pantheon next to the likes of Bonham, Moon, Rogers.

That's a very secure frontman who's willing to share the mic with the drummer. Both are extremely talented, as are the entire band, so it stands to reason.
This is, as usual, a powerful statement. There should be more contemporary artists making music like this.

Wow, this takes me back. When I was at university, the nun who ran my hall of residence was great mates (a bit of a foster mum), to one P Garrett who was living in another college down the road. When I turned up at my college perhaps a decade later, I was already a hardcore Oils fan. Thus, I was blown away at my orientation interview in the nun’s office. She had about 15 snaps of “Peter” framed on the wall. There were some with his blonde locks still in evidence. There was another one of him perhaps singing one of his first gigs (in the college’s common room). My own favorite was Garrett and the nun. He looked like a giant, because our kindly old nun was rather elderly and frail. Then again, she had an iron grip that she readily applied to our elbows to gain our attention.

Am I the only one who realises Peter got screwed over in the house? They promised him, PROMISED him, that he'd make the difference he was talking/singing about in all of these songs, then sold him out to make him look like the sell out and put him on the bench so he can't do a fucking thing about it.

Chris Carville .........thanks Chris, I completely agree. I still get annoyed at this “Garrett sold out” crap, I’m sure the “knockers” were all busy doing their bit for the country? I always believed Peter sincerely meant well but was a small fish in a very large pond (of piranha). Politics aside, all members of the Oils contributed to writing and performing this amazing music and that’s what they should be remembered for, the message hasn’t changed!

since the early 80s he spoke out against nuclear, and was implicit about it again in 2006. in 2009 he unequivocably supported the Four Mile uranium mine. Just one example. I think it's called being a "hypocrite"? Once you enter mainstream politics and tow the party line all this "change" stuff comes to very little, and with Garrett it runs counter to everything he preached through the 80s. But...he's a public school boy from an affluent family so he knows which side his bread is buttered on.
