- In this epic Total War Warhammer multiplayer Karak siege battle, the Dwarfs of Clan Angrund and the World's Edge Mountains defend Kraka Ravnsvake, the Raven's Roost, from hordes of the Undead from Mousillon and the Vampire Counts. Belegar Ironhammer and Grombrindal the White Dwarf must defend each plaza and layer of the Karak if they are to survive the overwhelming hordes of the Zangunaz.
Honestly I think this is the coolest, best, and most exciting Dwarf Karak Defense on RUclips. I hope my commentary lives up to the epicness of the replay!

Yeah the auto download isnt working very well, or at all, in the beta for me. Whenever I play custom maps so far I've had people download it from workshop and activate it before we join the lobby

Because that what community wanted, and when they got it - they just exploded with content. Also i think ideas from that maps will be implemented in further Warhammer Total War games/addons.

epic1527 that game still took 6 armies to last 30 minutes, they need to change the values for the units for the ultimate fix.
I think the game length is perfect as it is, in the other total wars, sitting down to play for a while wasnt really an option, as at least i would get bored quickly with how long everything took. I like being able to fight every battle in the campaign on warhammer, on the others it just isnt an option unless you are very patient.

That steam volley to the face of the vargheist as it tried to run away to finish it off was amazing.
Undead needed to engage the dwarf units under the wall with a varghulf and some crypt ghouls and sent everything else up to plaza 3. took way too much dmg from arty/missiles...

That was a heck of a battle. I love it when games actually get to go on long enough that things like reserves actually become relevant, and niche units like the irondrakes and flame cannons get a real chance to shine. Great stuff :)
This was the first replay I watched after I heard this game existed in August last year, and I immediately saved up money to buy a new computer so I could run it. Keep up the great work, Indy.
This is how battles should be, although I'm taking a break for MP for a bit as I'm busy with other stuff, I cannot wait what epic maps will be made. Damn - this is how sieges and battles should be. Units like Organ Guns and Flame Cannons will perhaps be very useful. Ironbreakers are perhaps the best unit in a siege situation as they are pretty bad in open field battles where they can't really hold anything. Great video!

First off, this is indeed the BEST dwarf video I have seen on youtube. The mad futile dash of the remaining dwarves to make it to Belegar was one of the coolest things I have ever seen in a video game. I know you liked the blood knights and the flame cannon but the attempt to regroup was cinematic AF. The face of your master engineer was also great. Little surprised you didnt comment on the Orc mask for the dwarven statue.
Whenever I've played this map I try to keep my units (and if I can convince my ally to join me) in the two walled off regions to the right. My line up normally is a line of Dwarf Warriors, followed up by Ironbreakers with their satchel charges, followed up by Irondrakes. Especially against infrantry heavy armies like VC and Beastmen it is absolutely brutal.
If my ally is Wood Elves we've had a lot of success with a ranged heavy Wood Elf Army with a Lore of Life hero. Usually when I play as the wood elves I use my healing on the dwarven front line, makes them almost impossible to destroy.
Also the version of this map BEFORE it got crushed on one side is up, very interesting deployment zones. A little harder for artillery tbh.

Yeah I have Gorduk Canyon, did a battle with THFEProductions on it on his channel. Yeah the Dwarf retreat was incredibly cinematic, most of the battle was I thought. Was so happy I managed to get that replay lol, thanks for the kind words

This fight lived up to the hype. I sat here with popcorn, a beer and more importantly the main theme of Army of Darkness playing in the background for all the key moments.
My god this was truly epic, totally agree with you - this is how the game is supposed to be enjoyed! And I just want to mention what a great job you do commentating. Your enthusiasm, awareness and knowledge of the lore, whether it be in depth discussion or just mentions of khazalid words and such, really serves to up the quality of these replays. And where others have sadly fallen off a little in quality lately, you've definitely risen to the very top of my favourite casters for TWW. Great job man!

Holy sht this was so frkn awesome! Probably the best total war battle I've ever seen. Big battles with dwarves are just everytime so epic.
Vampires obviously had the mobility, but made terrible use of their air superiority, which sealed the deal.
The main use of air units is flanking and harassing, not charging into dwarven blops, after all.

DAMN THIS WAS EPIC! The thing about the Dwarves though, they get no spears, no cavalry, no monsters, and the gyrocopters are not that great. So really you have to rely on artillery a lot. I was surprised there were no organ guns or anvils on the field.
Maps like these are great ways to cope with the horrible siege battles. Great vid!

Recently downloaded the COW endtimes, loads of fun but still far too afraid to play any multiplayer battles :3
I was watching all tensed up and randomly "the strigoi ghoul king very low hp sniped out the sky! 720 quickscoped dough-shot from the master engineer, sending the ghoul king plummeting to the earth, smoke weed everyday, " instantly liked the video after that.
These recent two siege battles are amazing. So good it was everything I hoped for from total war warhammer. Interesting to see balance appears very different with ultra+ funds. Getting range and artillery seems much more viable.

I already liked the map maker in theory but this video is, to me, what has proven that it is the way forward for this series.
If we get an army painter too at some point in the trilogy this will literally be the definitive Warhammer game series to end all warhammer games series.

This is what warhammer sieges should have been from the beginning, albeit with climable walls, gates etc. shame we had to rely on the modders to do it for CA

To be honest I am really glad I do not have to deal with this every single time I lay siege to a Karak.
Siege battles could use improvement, but this here seems far more suitable for multiplayer than singleplayer.
Yeah no thanks, a map like this would need like 3 full stacks to really defend, and 3 more to besiege it. Also, don't know what rig this guy is playing on, but performance will *TANK* for most people.
Warhammer is all about the epic scale as indy pointed out. This isn't perfect but its a step in the right direction, have you seen the maps from atilla? Some of those are massive with intricate, layered defense, which are great for multiplayer, which this map was clearly designed for. Of course for single player it would need scaling down and adjusting to suit a wide array of player's rigs, but this is a hell of a lot better than what CA produced which was a huge step backwards from previous total war titles. Add in some ravines, strategic chokepoints this would be awesome for a wide array of matches.

This is the kind of battle that has been missing from Warhammer. Wonder if there will be scenario maps based off of battles from the lore soon? Battle of Death Canyon would be cool to see.
I think people will be making scenarios for it yeah! I cant make scenarios in the beta cuz I have Windows 7, but maybe make a post on TW Forums or Reddit and see if your scenario could be a possibility. I remember your explanation of the battle, it sounds very cool!

You know its a good siege battle, when the battle last for more than 20 min and the attacker didn't win by standing idle in the capture point
That was definitely a fun match, and yeah, definitely didn't use the geist the best I could lol, but at the end there I just needed something to tie guys up and distract as my guys were coming around XD Was a ton of fun and can't wait for another game.

Pretty cool. Favorite part probably was the Terrorgheist trying to flee and getting shot down by the Irondrakes at point blank ^^ Or was it the Master Engineer Sniper?
Would love to see a similar map yet Empire-themed, with loads of buildings yet still big plazas to do battle. I think it would give an even better siege-feeling, as a Karak is mostly underground, and this battle is taking place merely at the gates

Great stuff. Really enjoyed this battle. Thank you for posting it, as I have such a hard time using vampires against dwarves. For those interested by the way, TWWH is availble for $12 at the moment with a Humble monthly sub (which you can cancel at any time).
this was definitely one of best battles I've ever seen. And one of the reasons for that is the settings. the community have already proven to have surpassed CA's map developers when it comes to map creation and design. And this is the result of just a few days of playing around with the map editor, imagine what we'll see in a few months time.
in the future, can you do one with the greenskins instead of vampires?

i had an aneurysm when i saw that the dwarfs next belegar were basically just running in circles when they could have just ran to him when they were almost killed and when there were no enemy units anywhere close to them
Honestly dwarves are so good at defending and almost unbeatable armies early game. Those ridiculous ranged attacks just pulverize any enemy leaving no room for mistake on the attacker side

Oh man it's so frustrating to not be able to play with Lizardmen. I know _exactly_ how I would had liked to assault these dwarven positions.
At least 4-6 regiments of skinks to skirmish and hopefully soak up fire from the two first positions and create a corridor with your teammate, for a main assault of a Carnosaur (with lord), 2-3 Cold Ones, 1 Kroxigor and a Stegadon with ballista to fire on the move, to assault the upper position. Daowi arty will have a harder time hitting stuff upwards (edit: without getting blue on blue), and that's probably where the most valuable targets will be. Saurus warriors would of course make up the core, with most trying to back up the main assault, and a few in reserve/support for ally. No slanns, maybe one or two skink priests.
Depending on points; Terradons for extra mobility where needed, salamander pack for melee support - alternatively another Kroxigor unit.
*ARGHH I WANT TO PLAY TW:WH WITH LIZARDMEN*
