Vocals that geddy or Robert would envy. The band!!! The drummer!!!! They hit you in the face let you relax enjoy your groove and melody then punch you in the head again. Love it
I was obsessed with at the drive in before the mars volta came around. Really loved seeing Cedric and Omar change their style so much and conquer prog just like they conquered post hardcore with their previous band.
The Mars Volta defy genres. Guys, there is sooooooo much good stuff to check out by The Mars Volta. Goliath. Wax Simulacra. Viscera Eyes. L'Via L'Viaquez. You won't be disappointed by any of these. Side note - The Mars Volta were born out of the demise of At The Drive In. Check them out if you haven't already. Start with One Armed Scissor.
if you think the drumming on this is crazy listen to Drunkship of Lanters, Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt, Goliath, and Wax simulacra those will blow you away
One of the best Rock album of all time IMO. The way they structured each and every song in this album one afthe another its just something else. It feels like 1 continuous song. But after jon theodore left them for QOTSA, they never the same. Such a shame
I agree. Once Jon Theodore left, the drumming just never had that same, crisp, clean pop for me. My drummer friend continued listening TMV after I stopped, which would’ve been Bedlam in Goliath for me, and he would swear that Thomas Pridgen was WAY better. He may be a better drummer, on a technical level, but I just couldn’t get into how chaotic and random he sounded compared to Theodore
Okay, so it's not the standard request, but for Mars Volta, you gotta listen to the whole Cassandra Gemini series (hell, even if it's just on your own) It's a long group, but progressive with a lot of movement; kinda reminds me of a floyd in MV's fusion style
You guys gotta check out cygnus vismund cygnus. Also like someone else said already you guys listened to the edited version of this song. The original version is definitely better
Ignore Goliath. I wouldn't take anyone seriously if they tried pushing Bedlam in Goliath on people. Amputechture is their best work, deloused is their second best album.
This whole album is an experience.
you all need to listen to this full album. it only gets better and better

I was 4 years old when my grandpa bought this album. It’s still my favorite concept album of all time.
I was obsessed with at the drive in before the mars volta came around. Really loved seeing Cedric and Omar change their style so much and conquer prog just like they conquered post hardcore with their previous band.
They have reunited :)
Not the same without Juan. One of my inspirations to have not given up on bass

the latino led zeppellin
The African drums permeate this whole album so they have a pretty great groove. Check out Cygnus….Vismund Cygnus
Waaay more music to get into with TMV...KEEP GOING!
Their first 4 albums.
The Mars Volta is worth diving into full bore. Go for Viscera Eyes if you haven't already.
l'via l'viaquez is another good mars volta one to react to
jon theodore is the man
RIP Ikey
You men need to go down this rabbit hole. Cassandra Gemini.
More 'volta please
you know we'd be here, all of TMV's albums are that heavy. toe tappin mixed with ugly sobbing
You guys gotta check out cygnus vismund cygnus. Also like someone else said already you guys listened to the edited version of this song. The original version is definitely better
The lost creative Band in the hole World
Ya bastards!
Flea from the red hot chili peppers was on this track and album!
Can you do the Deftones Rosemary? Thanks.
More prog rock? react to Yes. I've often thought of Mars Volta as Yes on crack.
So much I would like to comment about... But I shouldn't. I will be courteous and civilised and say thank you
If you guys want more progressive rock, you can't pass up Anesthetize by Porcupine Tree.
Blaze up then listen.
they have SO much to offer. react more! tetragrammaton is a gem.
This is the edited version. If you are going to react to more songs avoid the edited versions.
first .....
Ignore Goliath. I wouldn't take anyone seriously if they tried pushing Bedlam in Goliath on people.
Amputechture is their best work, deloused is their second best album.
IGNORE THIS IDIOT. The only album to avoid is Octahedron.
@S Bwahaha, Ilyena is like the only well polished song on the entire album.
Francis the Mute is easily their best album
@@usefulidiot9896 Dude... what about Ouroboros...?
FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!
