As far as the magician goes - there are a lot of videos explaining how mentalism tricks work. It looked to me like he found a way to touch everything before it was opened after it had been taped to connr and then would always say something like "someone take this I don't want to be touching it". These tricks usually work by switching the information out just before the reveal. I'm not claiming that I know how he did this particular trick, but my money is on really good sleight of hand.
