How poetic that Patrick Kane, in his first game back in Chicago, gets the game winning goal, in overtime, against the team that he spent 16 seasons of his career with, on the night that Chris Chelios' number is retired. You could not have written it better than this.
I love that every single fan in attendance gave Kane a standing ovation after the game was over. That's what hockey is about. Just a beautiful showing of respect to one of the greatest to ever do it.

Patrick Kane has been a medical miracle, and is looking like a stud out there. In the 27 games hes played with Detroit, Kane has scored 28 points with 12 goals and 17 assists. After coming off a hip surgery with over a quarter of the season played nobody knew what to expect from Kane and he didn't have any offers until Detroit signed him. He made his Debut in there 32nd game of the season.

Hopefully we can give him a good extension contract. He definitely deserves a good contract. And hopefully Patrick will be a bit flexible with a pay raise so the quality of players around Kane will be something special...like playoffs with a great possibility of a Stanley Cup!! I believe that the Red Wings will make the playoffs. Hopefully we can get deep into the playoff rounds. Would love it if we could make it to the Stanley Cup finals.

Crap level effort per usual. We are spoiled with DET announcers. A couple other teams have good crews...but most are total garbage. Panger is good with Chi as color

He passed Modano five years ago fwiw. Brett Hull might be the other comp for him too.
Pat Lafontaine had more points per game than either of them, and played with concussion issues his last 6 seasons ,and still made it over 1000 points. All 3 great players, but Patty carried the water on some weakish teams, including a 148 point year.

Hull is canadian born but jumped to USA citizenship when canada muffed him on representation for world juniors i believe.
Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Kane once played against a Chelios. Chelios once played against Gretzky. Gretzky once played against Gordie Howe.
Kane as a rookie was teammates w Robert Lang, who was teammates at various times w Gretzky, Lemieux, Ray Bourque and many others.
I rarely get too invested in sports, but I have a soft spot for the Wings and this season is rekindling an old flame. Kaner coming here has done so much for this organization. Not just because he’s a generational talent/ex rival, but because he brings personality and drive back into the team. Tonight was sports poetry at its finest. Stay with us Kaner, we love you. I think chemistry plays a role in hockey more than any other sport and Kane brings that in spades. He has always been my favorite hawk if a Red Wings fan can have something like that.

Never thought I'd be saying this in 2024, but DAMN REIMER was dominant in this one! The man's still got it!
I don't know that I'd say dominant, but clutch for sure. He still has a tendency to swim and look like he has no idea where the puck is at times, but on multiple breakaways he completely saved the game.
