The last time I was on the water with my Harmonica I used one of the neck brace gizmos so that I could converse with fellow Kayakers and ward off those aggie Swans that want to fly at you. That is also how I lost my Harmonica, fast incoming Swan and I meant to blow a tuneful warming and in my panic to a massive breath, and ended up getting it stuck in my throat. So be careful on the river with commination and warning devices. Great Video by the way.
Lip balm and sun cream, to prevent sunburn, might be a good idea. A lot of light is reflected off the water. A raisin and peanut mix for energy, rather than just peanuts alone.
Water in hip flask and 2 litres of rum in the bladder. :) Another very informative video. Steve. I may have missed ti if you have done a video already but would be interesting to see your general paddling clothing throughout the year maybe a four seasons overview could be good.
Funny thing is, I *never* have my phone in a waterproof case or bag. The phone itself is waterproof and instead I have an open 'case' with two rings where I've threaded cord through, put a little cheapo S-carabiner so I can hook it onto my PFD, my clothes, my kayak, or (often while paddling) on the zipper of my spray skirt's carry bag. Which, to be fair, was actually the point you were making; get everything attached to something to prevent a yard sale. Interesting use for a bandana, though I'm the kind of kayaker that says 'if your hands aren't wet, you are not paddling'. The face or using your phone I can get though. Definitely agree with the "Only drink alcohol when you know you're not going to paddle anymore that day". Usually have a whole bottle of rum with me when my father and I go on a multi-day trip :D I've actually been looking at folding ukulele ever since one of the people paddling with me brought one and we sang songs and what not around the campfire/bbq at the camp site. That said, I have 3D-printed an ocarina. My PFD is actually fairly empty, I just store most stuff in different places. [edit]Also we should totally paddle together for a few days I think, though I prefer my hard shell so it'll be when I can take that to England :P [/edit]
This is great, thank you, we are keen to get into kayaks, 2024, decided on single kayaks and the type. This is really helpful, and want to make sure we have everything in hand before we venture out. Would you suggest Dacathlon also for the PFDs?
Phone: As a paddler, I strongly recommend to buy a WATER PROOF phone like a Samsung etc... I have it always in my PDF, attached with a small rope, but never in a dry bag. I use the phone to have a look on the map from time to time.
Hey! Do you still use your x500 kayak? After longer time - was it worth buying? Did you experience any problems over longer time, especially on the folding area? Thanks in advance! :)

I find playing aggressive blues keeps the swans at bay!

Yes, my Decathlon PFD is awesome. Had it a few years now and still going strong.
