I don't have problems rev matching but when it comes to heel and toe I just can't, it seems to me (on the 86 platform) that you need to brake really hard to be able to touch the gas pedal

Great vid! Enjoyed watching you drive. Sorry if I may ask, I drive a GR86, do you have any tip(s) on upshifting during low rpms? Eg. from Gear 2-6 at around 2-2.5k. I always jerk a bit, not sure if I released the clutch too slowly, so the rpm have to catch up that caused the jerk. Thanks in advance 🙏

Thank you! I would try changing the speed of your shifts & see how the car responds. Maybe the car wants a touch faster or slower.
Are you starting the shift at 2-2.5k RPM or ending it there?
I almost always upshift at no less than 3k RPM
If you have the shift indicator arrow enabled, that will say to shift too early. It is OEM attempt at fuel economy & will frequently suggest I be in 4th gear when I'm barely going 30mph, and might even tell me to go to 5th right after.

@@ThePedalDance I start the shift at 2-2.5k, not ending. Right... ok I'll give it a try. Thanks a lot for the explanation 🙏🙏

@@ThePedalDance And would you step on the gas a tad bit, just before fully release the clutch after upshift? I'm not sure whether this would help the gear change smoother

@ngeamtw89 when up shifting at speed, let off clutch completely before giving it gas. Under 3-5mph is the only time to give it gas with the clutch pushed in. You would maybe give a little gas near clutch bite point, not much, if any.

The thing I have difficulty with is how weird the gr86 gas modularity is going from 3rd to high rpm 2nd, it's really hard to not load the pedal too much. After driving any cable throttle car I actually hate the pedal response from the 86.

I know what you mean & I really do miss throttle by cable.
BRZ & GR86 have different throttle mapping from factory, so I can’t speak directly for 86 but there are a couple things you might try…
Normally, I wouldn’t use a throttle controller, like Pedal Commander, but I will admit it made a huge difference on this BRZ. Made throttle much more linear & predicable. I set it to City -4 and haven't touched it.
Stock GR86 throttle curve is less linear than stock BRZ. In GR86 with a 40--85% pedal press, car is asking for 100% torque. Basically a huge dead space in the pedal.
A tune could also address throttle mapping but that is for you decide. Personally, I have no desire to tune this car but I did tune my 1st gen BRZ & other cars.
MTEC Clutch Spring. Not throttle pedal related but made a huge difference in pedal control & shifting as a whole.

@@ThePedalDance Wow, that makes sense why the 2,000 rpm blips are so much easier. I always feel like when I try to get 2nd gear high rpm I have to wait for the revs to build at 60% throttle and get lucky on guessing when it decides to actually give me what I'm inputting. Also I have the stock clutch spring and hate the lack of feel so maybe I'll try the mtech helper spring, thanks.

@@Datmeega thank you for bringing this up. I too felt a similiar occurence whenever i am at speed and downshifting from any gear into 2nd. My car's gas pedal would sometimes hit the stopper at the bottom but the revs still dont rise as high as you'd need it too so it requires another tap of the gas, and again it will take heavy input near the stopper limit basically to see any rev gains. I thought at first it might of been the charcoal filter. So i deleted it. It smoothed some problems but did not fix this one. But now i have the solution unfortunately...and it requires a pedal commander or a tune... sigh

@@ThePedalDance Yea I got an 86 myself and tried my buddies BRZ, I was able to blip much easier with his throttle than mine which has become such a pain honestly. I also drove my buddies Golf R that has such a superior throttle response it's crazy how "sensitive" the 86 throttle can be. Eventually when I get headers/tune, I'm gonna have them rework that throttle and rev hang. It's probably my biggest gripe with this car but I still love it.

I had help. The install is not difficult, you just need the right tools & equipment.
