Glad to have found this. My Brother Michael Rodden, drummer behind the tenor drummer. Dearly missed Michael along with Alex and Dennis all of whom served in the Black Watch.
I like to see film footage of the British Army of the 1960s. Smart and professional soldiers. They were deployed all over the world and there were never enough of them. Sad to see so many fine regiments disappear. The Black Watch is now only a battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. The Scottish regiments had recruiting problems. We will never see them restored as full regiments in their own right.
My stepfather (Harry Scott) was in the Black Watch. When he left and the regiment went to Hong Kong, I lost touch with the friends I'd had. I wonder what they're all doing now?
The narrator mentions that the Black Watch fought in America, but it is of interest that the Regiment states: ""We can boast no Battle Honours for our part in the American War of Independence, because it was rightly decreed that Battle Honours should not be granted for a war with our kith and kin."
Balhousie Castle, Perth The Black Watch Regimental Museum is located in this historic castle, which dates back to the 12th century. The museum features a collection of artifacts, including paintings, medals, diaries, photographs, uniforms, weapons, and military equipment. The castle is also surrounded by beautiful gardens and grounds.
Whilst I'm in no way a Royalist the facts prove that the Royal Family generates way more £ than they cost the British taxpayer. They're still a fucked up bunch though.
There's the Queen Mother and Princess Alice. DoE might make it his year. Do you like being envious of people with more than you? Even without the monarchy, you'd just envy someone else.
Dad passed away in 2014 so it was great to see him - with hair - and the Regiment he so loved being a part of immortalised on screen!
Where is your dad in the video?

Ties and collar pins for the officers on exercise at 6.50 - excellent.
because 'standards' !
Bloody fantastic regiment. Fierce fighting force. I wonder how many of these men would want independence Mrs Sturgeon?
1 minute and 20 seconds into this, I can see my Dad very clearly, he is right behind Big Ugg, I think my Dad was only 19 at the time.
I am going to watch it again at 1 :20 Greetings from Pretoria South Africa,

Will be interesting to see what happens if Scotland splits from the UK.

Brilliant. 'mon the forty twa!
A fine regiment would like to see Meagain pull her stunt against the Queen mum

Wow, can you imagine: 3 Battalions of the Black Watch - Who'd stand in their way ;)
Perth looks a lot nicer here than when I grew up in the 80s/90s...urban planners be damned
They near wrecked one of the best places to live.

07:49 It surprised me to see a .303 Bren as late as 1962
762 version Brens still in use in NI mid 80s.
We still had the Bren in Germany in 88

Why does each member of the Royal family live until over 100 years?
Cos they fucking get looked after right left and centre at OUR expense.
I remember that each time she swallowed a fish bone she'd be airlifted by helicopter to Aberdeen Royal. Happened at least twice if memory's correct.
