I wonder if these individual units representing previous regiments are encouraged to maintain some of the former traditions to distinguish themselves from the other units serving within the Royal Regiment of Scotland?
@_RabbitLeader yes they do. Each Bn is named after the Regiment they came from and as such they continue the heritage of the founding Regiment. However, my Regiment (A and SH) are only a company sized group who provide troops for ceremonial duties.

Fort those who might be wondering why this ceremony is taking place several days after Sunak announced the election, the reason is that the delay represents the time it used to take a despatch rider to ride from London to Edinburgh carrying a copy of the proclamation
God Save The King. This was probably the service at St Giles where the new Duke of Edinburgh was the King’s Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. When the Monarch is in Scotland he/she must attend the Presbyterian Church of Scotland as it is the Established Church.
I do realise the time and effort that goes into dressing . However, wearing THE most romantic uniform was well worth the effort as you look so magnificent I appreciate what you have to do. 4:15 Officer at the rear keeping a critical eye on that marching! Those white ‘galoshes’ make it easy to spot the ones who’ll be given extra practice 😊
You call them "galoshes"? Amazing! In french, a "galoche" (which is pronounced the same as in english) means a rustic leather shoe with a sole made of wood. Gaiters may be?
The UK really loves their marching and parades. Very impressive. The government learned a long time ago that the masses needed something to make forget their otherwise miserable life, and terrible health care.
To those who would doubt the loyalty of the Scottish Army post independent Scotland, I can set their minds at rest...The Scottish Regiments have never, ever, refused to fight for the Crown. Anywhere the United Kingdom was engaged - from the Middle East, the North West Frontier, to the Far East, Europe, North America, or the South Atlantic, the Scots (and Irish, Welsh, and Commonwealth soldiers) were there, out of all proportion to the size of their populations, fighting side by side with their English comrades. Any British line of battle would be immeasurably weaker but for the presence of the Scottish soldiers. This moving, dignified clip, accompanied by the beautiful slow March of the Third Regiment of Guards, shows the Royal Regiment of Scotland at their finest. May the blessings of Almighty God rest upon them all.

The question of independence shows quite a rift across the people of Scotland. I don't want to see the UK break up but I respect the views of those who do. What interests me is how many Scots living in England want independence, I've never met one, they generally thinks it's nonsense but they don't have a vote on it.
Wonderful but I would have rather seen the 6 regiments that were combined to make the RRS: Black Watch; A&S Highlanders;the Gordon Highlanders; Cameron Highlanders;Royal Scots Fusiliers;...that's all I can remember but each with their own tartan and traditions
Of course we will. Denmark. Ireland,Norway. Sweden etc can all maintain their armies. Why shouldn't Scotland. Or are you one of those English people who think Scotland and Scottish people are parasites?
@@harrykey2448 I ought to clarify. Any regiment or corps of the British Army is a military unit formed within the context of the Union, Crown and Parliament thereof. Officers hold their commission from the crown, and soldiers swear their loyalty to the monarch. In the event of Scotland withdrawing from the United Kingdom the Royal Regiment of Scotland might continue in existence as a component of the British Army but the MOD, already itching to further reduce the size of the infantry, might well grab the opportunity to disband a regiment that, in principle, recruits from an area that would no longer be within their zone of responsibilty and so avoid the usual flack. Aside from that, regiments of the Army have a degree of autonomy in their relationship to government and in the event of independence, with the relationship to the Crown uncertain, the Colonel Commandant and Colonels of the battalions, loyal to both crown and union, might well choose to disband the regiment. This has happened in the past, when in 1968 the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) chose to disband rather than amalgamate with another regiment. In any case, the SNP would have no say in the matter. Scotland as a sovereign nation would have to form its own army, navy and air force. So, not rubbish, no.
