    New model Katie comes to us with significant surface dehydration and old acne scars she is keen to be rid of. We start her off on a regimen that includes our favorite non-foaming gel cleanser, AHAs, retinol, and flavonoids, as well as a purifying mask, to draw out those good oils. While it might seem counter-intuitive and scary to someone who’s suffered acne in the past, proper skincare products are nothing to be afraid of!
    Nerida Joy provides skincare tips and secrets collected from her 40 years experience working with A-list celebrities in order to educate and give you facts about how to care for your own skin.

    I'm so HAPPY for Katie! As a client, it was so validating to hear Katie's feelings about starting on a new regimen and that you were sensitive to that as her estie.
    Her story is so close to mine (even growing up in South FL)! As long as I had fewer pimples, I got comfortable with "good enough." But after a recent unexpected breakout, I was searching for answers and found this channel. Nerida's detailed explanations made me a believer. I took the plunge and took her advice and changed my homecare regimen. It was scary to think of layering products. My first time ever using a serum!!
    In just a month, I've seen significant improvement. (Plus at least 5 blackheads have popped out on their own!) I've still got a ways to go but I'm so excited.
    And as an encouragement to Katie - I now use my skin care regimen time as a therapeutic "me time" to start and end the day. It'll get fun!
    Nerida, thanks so much for this knowledge AND access to you!! 🤗

    • @devon.pfeifer
      @devon.pfeifer 5 лет назад +1

      Mariam Ouni are you cleansing properly? Are you using the right cleanser? Also, the flavonoid complex is not for addressing the actual acne itself. It is to soften the skin, reduce skin irritation and help heal the skin, whether it be erythema or hyperpigmentation, or inflammation. Before you use it regularly, you need to get the pore clean. Get the normalizing cream for open acne-this has urea peroxide to help kill bacteria, and clean the pore... this will help tiny papules. You can use it as a spot treatment or to address specific areas, and layer it over the aha serum. However it may be best for you to see someone for some extractions, so you can get the pores cleaned out, and then begin using these products. Once the pores are clean, and the skin is start to heal after a few weeks, THEN you can really use the flavonoid on a regular basis. Also, you might want to look into your diet and see if a candida diet might help your forehead... tiny papules on the forehead sometimes are an indication of candida.

    Hi again! I was wondering your opinion on derma-planing?
    I do it to my clients in the treatment room but I was curious your opinion if you think it’s healthy for the skin, if it’s good for scaring (like this client here in the video) and the ongoing benefits of not having facial hair for the serums to be able to penetrate better once they are back at home with their home care.

    You mention a "healing" gel - which Rejuvi product is that? And is the retinol serum you put on Katie's face the Rejuvi 'a ' Retinyl Serum? I'm 63 with sagging, dehydrated skin, and surface dryness : what are the most important products I should be using? I love watching your videos - many thanks.

    • @devon.pfeifer
      @devon.pfeifer 5 лет назад +3

      Virginia, the product is called the skin healing gel. If you wanted to use something like that, I would recommend you use the Rejuvi Plus Natural Soothing Gel... I would say you can use it on anyone, but it has more weight to it, and is a little thicker than the healing gel, which would be better for a more dehydrated mature skin. It just helps to work both as a good humectant to lock in hydration, but also a layer to help buffer treatment serums like alpha hydroxy acids, and vitamin A products you might put on top. As far as the product she’s applying on Katie, it’s called the retinoid formula, which is a stronger vitamin A product used in treatment for professional use only. If you are dry, dehydrated, and sagging, I would probably have you on the Rejuvi Plus Gentle Purifying Emulsion as your cleanser, possibly the natural soothing gel, the flavonoid complex, the vital protection day cream as your daytime moisturizer, and the bio-refining cream as your night time treatment moisturizer, to start. And of course a sunblock. After about four weeks I might add on the A Night Gel, and possibly a vitamin C, and an eye product for sure.

    • @polovinka2
      @polovinka2 5 лет назад +1

      Devon Pfeifer hi. I am wondering why most products you are recommending from Rejuvi plus line?do you find it more effective,gentle?maybe more catered to mature clientele? or something else?thank you!

    • @devon.pfeifer
      @devon.pfeifer 5 лет назад +6

      Kristina K while I haven’t used a lot of the products from the that part of Rejuvi, because not all of it is right for my own skin type, I think that they are more suited for a more drier, mature skin type. For example, she could probably also use the g AHA cream instead of the bio-refining, but I would go more with the bio-refining, because looking at the ingredient deck, it looks like the glycolic might be a little more buffered back than in the g AHA cream. In general, for pretty much everyone, I’m in the camp of not going too strong too quickly-I would prefer either products to be buffered back to a lower strength to use on a daily basis OR if there is a very strong product, I would like the option of being able to buffer it back by layering other things underneath, or mixed in... for everyone, but especially so, with a drier mature skin type, where the skin is likely to be thinner, and possibly more susceptible to irritation and disrupting the skin barrier too much to where you can’t do anything if you go too strong. Hope this makes sense.

    How would you treat a client that started to develop hormonal acne from pregnancy and resulted in red scarring? She still experiences some break outs here and there after baby, but it’s hard for me to figure out a solution :(

    From what age should we start using retinol? Should we still exfoliate while using retinol?

    • @devon.pfeifer
      @devon.pfeifer 5 лет назад +2

      Ganavi N... it really depends on the brand. Most brands will say mid to late 20s... but it really depends on the condition of the skin and how the retinol can help to be honest. It is a long answer...
      You can exfoliate while using retinol, if you are not using retinol every single day, and if your skin can tolerate it. If I am doing a mini-treatment on myself, I will exfoliate just to buff the skin back, so the vitamin A, or any other treatment product, can penetrate better.
      Not all Vitamin A is the same in how it is formulated and affects the skin.

    Question on take home products - do you give those products as part of the facial or do the clients buy those?

  • @itslatasha4726

    Does anyone here use Dr Bronner’s liquid soap? Does it work well on facial skin?
    I’ve been using it on my face for the past week and it hasn’t been bad but no dramatic change.
    Wondering if in the long run it will be beneficial or not...

      not a lover of soaps:(( isn't it drying your outer layer?

      I used the tea tree oil one for a week. It was so drying omg. After learning that foaming cleanser are a NO NO from Nerida's channel, I stopped using it and my skin has been so bomb lately.

    • @itslatasha4726
      @itslatasha4726 5 лет назад +1

      It isn’t “foaming” to me. I’ve used foaming cleansers in the past and this isn’t close. I wondered because I heard from some that it cleared acne. But I don’t have acne more so an occasional breakout.
      Thank you.
