For the mesh fraying problem, you could put the mesh between two pieces of wax paper and us a hot iron to melt it together a bit. Don't apply too much pressure because you could end up melting it into one big piece of plastic.

You could even fold the fabric of the blanket and stuff it with extra fabric or stuffing and make a cushion for the bebes on the Coptic case. Also, you could try using a hair dryer to heat the plastics and maybe melt them a little
You could use the mesh in a art video. You could use it for making a cool art wreath for you door or as a wreath for booth as like signage.

Hey on the mesh you have to pull one of the strings before you cut it and it stays together better.
Try amazon and craft foam ... it's like 5 $ for 50 sheets
you might be able to take an iron on low temp (use a piece of freezer paper on top) to kind of melt the layers of mesh together for future use.

I found some really inexpensive fine mist bottles on Amazon that I've been using when I do watercolors. They are being sold for aromatherapy/essential oils, but they mist water really well. They are sold by Alink Official. A pack of six plus a microfiber cloth and a nozzle was around $7.

maybe try ironing over the mesh with a baking paper over and under it, so it kinda melts together a little, like peeler beads

I would do a light mixture of glue/modpoge and water. Lay the mesh flat. Spray it on the mesh. Let dry.
If you want the mesh flat then iron it with a piece of paper in between to prevent melting
You could also try those plastic canvas for cross stitching if that is what you are looking for the buttons^^

You can try clear nail polish on the edge of the mesh, just so the parts stick together, that might help!

Ugh - I'm pretty certain that wreath mesh isn't what you want, its not very stiff, unravels, and hurts your hands after using it a while.

Why not try folding the mesh a couple times... make it a bit thicker and may reduce the amount of fray?
