I love how this song has comment complaining about the screaming and the video for Stand Up has people complaining about there being no screams at all.
This Calling was one of the first songs I ever listened too. Still epic to this day.

This Darkened Heart is my favorite album of theirs. And I definitely agree that it mixes those two genres very well.

Same here, a lot of people bitch about how ATR went mainstream but if they hadn't written 'what if I was nothing', I never would've discovered them. So I'm pretty grateful for that song
Amber Douwstra This type of transitions are seen so much around bands like this... at some point they all feel stable, happy and somehow manage to bring out anything other then heavy screaming songs. And it gets situational... even though i like to listen to songs like "Six" and "This Calling", which are pretty heavy, i can also listen to WIIWN too, which doesnt come near as close as. Different songs for different situations... either you wanting to screw over the world, one person at the time, or just settle down and be calm after some shaky situations, bands like this one will always be there for you..

ATR has had a decent mix of screaming and singing since Fall of Ideals. People just like to focus of negatives.

Good grief people, will you ever be satisfied? This song is HEAVY, ANGRY, and CATCHY. The entire band has grown into one of the best metalcore bands of all time and easily the most talented. You are the worst critics. You say that ATR has changed (I hope every band ever created evolves or they aren't being very good musicians) and you dislike this song because Phil sings in the chorus? How dumb.

You should listen to the rest of the songs on the album. In my opinion, this is the "harsh"est song of them all. There's only a few songs like this on it.

I liked them when they were heavier... It appeals to my ear personally and this is a lot better than the crap that was on for we are many. The falls of ideals was their best album in my opinion and people liked them for that style of music and thats why they complain about it changing so drastically. We want the old atr with the screaming, guitar solo's and less of the clean vocals.

It just means the band is EVOLVING, expanding their musical point of view and doesn't mean that they are going to change their whole style of music, people need to open their minds a bit. :D

Bruce Dickinson don't scream as the bands nowaday but he still one of the best (or the best) metal vocalist ever... It's not the scream that makes a band good or bad. It's their music as a whole thing ;)

it's a matter of opinion, you don't have to love it like we do, but some comments are better unsaid.. you could have declare war to youtubers.. and to respond to your question, it's a metal sub-genre .. not the same as Disturbed, but really similar.. I think they call it Nu-metal or something like that.. I personnaly like that.. you obviously don't .. glad to answer your questions, and Disturbed is an awesome band too :)

Screaming adds something extra to the song, some people like it and some people don't. If they put screaming in their songs I'm assuming they like it or most of their fans like it. It's actually quite logical, really.

Well, if you only listened to 3 or 4 songs per album, maybe it might seem like that..Might want to consider finishing that before trying to tell people they don't scream anymore.

Ok, I gotcha. Yea ATR is starting to pick up fans that don't really like Metalcore, lol. All of their singles now are primarily clean vocals, written specifically for radio play. Ex: Hold On, The Last Time, The Waiting One, Stand Up, etc. So these new fans hear them on the radio but then buy their albums and see that they are actually a very heavy band. However, ATR has tasted the benefits of going mainstream, I predict they will continue to be more radio friendly now.

So, you like "Not Alone" but not this song? They both have more or less exactly the same amount of screaming and clean vocals. This song is old school heavy ATR with a good chorus to go along with it. Now the rest of the new album definitely has new ATR that hasn't been on any album. Entire songs where Phil does clean vocals. But I think you're being too critical. This song is downright heavy and awesome.
Been hesitant on getting the new album. I'm a big fan of Fall of Ideals, but also loved Overcome as well. I love gutteral vocals,a nice scream, and some great singing and this song seems to fill that but what about the rest of the album? I've heard "Stand Up" on the radio and I really wasn't a fan.
You really haven't listened to the last 2 albums, have you? 95% of both For We Are Many and A War You Cannot Win had just as much screaming as their old stuff. Just because they've branched out and made a few songs that aren't quite the same & made it on the radio doesn't mean that's all they do now.
