2014년 11월 19일 타이틀 곡 “MAMA”로 솔로 출격을 선언한 니콜!
가수 니콜이 첫 미니앨범 [First Romance]를 발매하며 홀로서기에 나섰다.
니콜의 첫 번째 미니 앨범 [First Romance]는 니콜이 기존 활동 당시 여러 음반들을 함께 작업했었던 뮤직프로듀스팀 SWEETUNE이 프로듀싱을 맡아 작업했으며, 사랑에 관한 아름다움, 이별, 그리움 등을 동시에 담아냈다.
총 6트랙으로 구성된 이번 미니앨범은 그간 보여주지 못했던 다양한 니콜의 모습을 담아내기 위해 곡부터 의상까지 앨범준비 전 과정에 직접 참여하며 니콜의 손길이 안 닿은 곳이 없을 정도로 심혈을 기울여 만든 앨범이다.
특히 타이틀 곡 “MAMA”는 세계적인 안무가 Luam Keflezgy와 Jemel McWilliams가 참여했으며, 한 편의 뮤지컬을 보는 듯한 안무스케일이 또 다른 볼거리를 제공할 예정이다.

People are being so annoying. nicole did not leave kara because she wanted to study, or do solo, she was forced to leave because of the company. Before everything, she was the most famous in kara, and had the most schedules. But compared to all her hard works, the company gave her too litle money, so her mom sued the company. After that incident, the company started treating nicole poorly, and gave her little parts in songs, and no schedule at all. Nicole had bigger dreams than this.Who would want to stay in a company like that? She wanted to stay with KARA, without being in DSP, like Gain who changed companies, but is still in BEG. but DSP didn't allow her to do so. So she was forced tp leave Kara. So people stop saying bad things about nicole and blame DSP, cause all she did was work hard, and this all this is starting to piss me off.

Hara and JiYoung were the most hatted members. Now JiYoung left, Hara is the most hatted member because of that incident on Radio Star, which I think is stupid, Hara doesn't deserve hate. You can search on RUclips Hara and JiYoung Incident on Radio Star. Seungyeon, Hara and JiYoung went there and everything was ok, but then the MC's started to make jokes, specially SuJu's KyuHyun. So Hara got mad because he called her "Idol dating" and because KyuHyun mention something about her ex-boyfriend. It seems like Hara tried to hit him with a bottle water but that was an accident. After a few minutes Hara started to cry. Some time after that, MC's asked JiYoung do aegyo but she didn't want to. They asked again and again and JiYoung cried too. K-netizens already have bad comments for Hara because of her singing and after the incident became worst.

Honestly, I can't believe how people are actually disappointed with this. Nicole stated she cried so much making her album because she was scared of disappointing her fans. If you really love Nicole, just support her in what she does. I love Nicole so much and I'm just so happy for her solo debut I just miss seeing her on my screen and got sad from watching KARA's Mamamia MV. I don't see anything wrong with this. I'm glad she has a different hair style and she took this song for a more classier and relaxed feel. And idk if anyone follows her on IG but she loves dancing and she's amazing. I'll support Nicole all the way! Fighting!

I don't understand where all of this hate it coming from. Nicole was my bias in KARA. She's also one of my ultimate biases. I was SO sad when I found out that she was leaving KARA but she had a good reason so who am I to be mad. And now she's out here, going solo, and doing her thing, and she KILLED it. Nicole has the most potential to go solo in Kara. She's the well-rounded member. Her and Jiyoung leaving Kara left a big impact as she has the biggest international fanbase in Kara and Jiyoung the most popular in Japan.

its really great to see her back. she really didnt waste time after she left dsp to really improve her singing and dancing skills. i honestly didnt really care for her voice when she was in kara. it didnt stand out or do anything for me. i would just look at her as their "rapper" of sorts and dancer member of the group, but now i can really hear and appreciate her voice and how much its improved since the last time she was on a stage. hopefully shes successful and that one day she can be on stage with the rest of the kara members, including jiyoung and youngji, and they can perform together without having their companies stopping them

Correct me if I'm wrong. So this song is about falling in love and becoming a woman. There were a lot of black balloons and a shit ton of backup dancers but as only one balloon stayed all but one backup dancers disappeared. So she found the right man for herself but the search for him brought her tears which is why she blew her nose. And also the lyric: "Mama told me to be careful of men". Becoming a woman means letting go of childhood, which is why she flushed the toys down the toilet. Her love according to the lyrics was to remain a secret, which is why there was a body in the fridge/closet/whatever that thing was. Okay. That's my theory. What did I miss and do you have a better one?

Honestly, I feel like this song is more about her chasing her dreams of being solo. She felt trapped in her room throughout the MV and she held all those balloons because she felt surrounded by her group members in KARA. She felt the warmth of the group, and at the end she lets all balloons go but one and she escapes the room. Also if you pause at like 1:12 you see the picture of the mama holding the baby saying "Live the life you love" I think she is using this song as a symbol for falling in love with her dreams of being a solo artist despite being nervous and becoming a more mature idol while honing her skills as she advances into her solo career.

I had to watch this twce to actually hear the song because the first time I was too dumbfounded by her face, I couldn't hear anything. Is it just me or she changed ? I feel like she slimmed down a lot..like ..A LOT... I was just about to search if this is really KARA's Nicole. Idk if it's just me but I hardly recognize her in this MV. Oh, don't get me wrong! She changed but now she looks even more beautiful than before! :D

I'm glad to see Nicole, but I don't think this had that "punch" I expected from her. Nicole always stood out because of her sassiness to me. I expected her to do something sexy with attitude rather than the moody Sunmi classy feel which I feel Sunmi pulls off well because she doesn't use her aegyo voice. When they said like Lee Hyori, I expected something way outside the box like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or something kinda like how Hyuna's debut with a little more singing. I guess I will have to wait and see how it plays out.

I actually think this has more impact! This isn't the kind of style we're used to, because Nicole tends to have either a bubbly or sassy vibe. Debuting with a darker style was unexpected, but she pulled it off perfectly anyways. Besides, her solo in Kara was also a more mellow song, and her solo turned out to be my favourite. Nicole's a very versatile artist. I don't think she should feel obligated to stick to the image most people have of her.

Why are some people comparing Nicole and Kahi? I love both of them but they're both very different. For those who are like "Nicole doesn't doesn't dance as well as Kahi." Well of course not, you guys have to remember that Kahi was a backup dancer before debuting in After School, that's why she has more experience. Nicole debuted at 16 years, and only has been around for 7 years. It's unfair to compare her to Kahi. And those saying she copied people, well first of all did all those people created that concept, probably no. To me Nicole sings well and she dances amazingly,very graceful

Neat. Her voice is amazing as ever, her dancing is beautiful! So smooth and clean, kind of like Yenny's. Her black and white outfit was stellar, everything was well planned and was wonderful. The only thing that bothered me was the amount of dancers: at the end some of them should have left the stage, for it not to be cluttered.

As someone who has been a fan of Kara since debut, I'm proud to see how much she's grown over the short duration of time between her leaving DSP and making a solo debut. I've always felt like she was the one member who didn't get the recognition she deserved and even though this song didn't "wow" me, I see it as a look into what she has to come as an artist. We're proud of you Nicole and know we'll continue to support you as you become an even better artist.

guys, i understand why some of you are dissapointed by the MV and the song but remember she's going to release a mini album, and from what i heard in the medley, the other songs sounded really good! it's common in Kpop to have a title song which is kinda..."meh" while the rest of the album is just gold.
