      People dislike this arc because its obviously rushed, it shares a LOT of similarities with the filler Bount arc, all of the fullbringers have one or two scenes/aren't fleshed out, and, like you say, Ginjo was an extremely weak villain. He's all but one dimensional, pretty uninspired powers/fights, he even looks like Aizen, its another training arc, and he isn't really dealt with well at the end of the arc or afterwards.
      Sure its not a traditional, uncanon filler arc, but it may as well be a canon filler arc. Basically nothing would have changed if Rukia gave him his powers back and he went to the Soul Kingdom to train. All it gives us is some sick designs and some explanation for Chad. None of the characters introduced change much of anything.

However there was one problem, there was no one alive strong enough to bring out the hogyoku's full potential and reach immortality. So Aizen starting experimenting with hollows on shinigami's and eventually created Ichigo, the ultimate hollow/shinigami/quincy merge. He put ichigo through many battles to hone his power so that one day he could fight Aizen and aizen would be able to draw out the hogyoku's full power. And he almost succeeded, he did become immortal in the end. Only to see hope in light in becoming a fullbringer to help his friends again. And then that TOO being taken away from him. The absolute anguish he felt... his plea for his powers back.. he didnt want to be human.. he wanted to help and protect. It was his true desire and it was squashed.

    They always want something different but as soon as they get it suddenly it’s bad. This arc really set bleach apart from most the other Shonen by making the protagonist vulnerable as all hell and then introducing a foe not nearly as intense as the previous but still a major thing simply because the protagonist no longer has the means to fend them off.

    Originally, I was mainly into this because of Ichigo, and how he tried to get his power and then he hit rock bottom. I wasn't too invested in the happenings like Tsukushimas and Ginjos backstab plotting and investigations. Its one of those arcs that's a much better reading it all at once as opposed to waiting weekly. Cause its a slower build and not as action packed initially even with the thriller elements.
    Granted I did like Ginjo since his introduction and his reveal as a substitute soul reaper but I didn't really fully invest in the details of this arc originally. But in no shape did I see it as filler or bad. Initially it just wasn't an enticing over all cause of all the crap Aizen had them all involved in.

    The Fullbring arc wanted me to see more of them beyond Chad even though a more powerful Chad would also be nice. I didn't realize the Fullbring powers were more of his Hollow powers in a different form. For a while, I thought fullbring, soul reaper, and hollow were three separate sources of power. If Ichigo can completely regain his fullbring powers and merge them with soul repear, the power increase would be insane. This does bring up a question for the other Soul Reapers who had the hollow mask form if they could become fullbringers as well.

      @@needmetobethebadguyhuh2371 I disagree that it made it less impactful, and that his Fullbring form doesn't matter. One of the main points of the Fullbring arc was to show how Ichigo got along without his powers. And he was miserable. He hated that he was powerless to protect his loved ones from danger. Which is where the next main point of the arc comes into play, he works on getting his powers back. And when Soul Society gave him his Shinigami powers back, that was a big moment of development for Soul Society. After centuries of inflexibility, they were willing to disregard their own rules about giving powers to a human. Because Ichigo was willing to sacrifice his powers to save the world, Soul Society viewed him as an invaluable ally.

    Good video. I too considered the Fullbring arc as a decent one. But when looking at the form that Ichigo takes at the end of the arc, and how you stated that it is a combination of both his Fullbring & Soul Reaper, I wondered if Ichigo has gained the ability to change into his Soul Reaper form without ever having to leave his body, and his badge is basically the on/off switch (or morpher if anyone believes Ichigo is based on Adam Park from PR) for it? If so, it might explain how his son Kazui is able to change into his Soul reaper form without essential needs. Well I don't know about you, but what do you think?

    The Fullbring arc is amazing imo, but as it doesn't follow the same line as the previous arcs, which is: fight, fight, fight, Ichigo get a new power up, fight - people find it boring, because it's a shonen, so they want to watch fights, they don't care about the emotional part

    I think on some level ginjo lied about how you get fullbring in the first place since he was not actually being his true self.
    Ichigo has less fullbring on his attire while ginjo had more on his attire.

    On the point of Ginjo being an obvious villain, I'd argue that that's kind of the point. If we think of the entirety of Bleach in terms of a traditional 3 act structure, fullbring is essentially the act 2 low point. The fact that Ichigo is going along with everything this shady guy says shows how desperate he is to get some sort of power back, which is established at the very beginning of the arc where it's clear how sad he is that his friends are still able to help others but he no longer has the power to do so.

And the fact that the court guard squads had so much respect for him and how he has carried himself through the years to share their power with him. That speaks volumes! And yes....his outfit was sick!! Love how his full bring was represented in his new soul reaper shikai form and bankai. The markings on his wrists, chest and feet were awesome! I ❤ it!

      I disliked the arc because it seemed like a hack way to give Ichigo back his powers, which renders his massive sacrifice in beating Aizen. Bleach could have been finished after the Aizen fight with Ichigo sacrificing it all to save the day. This arc is a retcon.

    • @theloneshadow14
      @theloneshadow14 2 года назад

      @@warriorscholar41 i have some agreements but in the end the arc was to explain his powerd a bit as well as develop his more human side in terms of what can someone who has a drive to protect do now that he's powerless and his loved ones are in danger
      Its less lets just give him back his powers and more, let's see how he acts without them which i find really good development wise, plus it would be kinda shitty for the Soul Society to just not help him after all that to be fair

    I really loved this arc. It really did ad more character development than a lot of other larger arcs. The other arcs kinda felt like he was blindly rushing forward and he just had to dig deep to get what he needed to win. This arc was about him coming from basically a place of retirement and truly thinking about whether he actually wanted to do this. A conscious decision rather than just reacting to a situation. That is character development.
