@@slade6959 idk, there’s also a brightness to hoult that pattison just doesn’t have, Lex has to have that, it’s two sides to him, Bruce Wayne is a very dark character, he is, and that’s also maybe Hoult wouldn’t have in theory maybe not encompass all of what pattison does in the role, he will be great lex, both sides of him, the gleaming human who has pushed himself to build everything he has, which is commendable but his problems with Superman will be mainly because he can do things Lex can’t, Pattison would be more of the eisenberg variation and keeping in mind what let Eisenberg down wasn’t that he wasn’t menacing or wasn’t acting his ass off, but again he encompassed the menace of Lex not the brightness , it’s just they ruined his character in that last end of BVS and through writing. I want to see hoult go from what I’ve just described to eventually In those big crossover movies encompass the human qualities in a positive light in his green mech suits working with Supes or eventually becoming President Lex, and Hoult will be able to do that so much better. Great choice, plus he looks like he’s equal in parts to Corsenwet especially if you think how past performances become showcases of how they could tackle the characters, Hoult: Skins, vs Corsenwet: Hollywood, compare how just these performances as almost precursors of how the characterisations interact, it’s really exciting. A darker but shining Sociopath vs Boy Scout Bright eyed integrity and Earnestness.
The weird thing about Batman and Superman specifically, as the original models for the superhero concept, is that they're deeply based in a very specific 1940s comic aesthetic. It's evolved since then, but the characters have a few distinct characteristics going back to that period. And I don't quite think Nicholas Hoult quit fits the mold. He's very pretty and boyish, while Batman and Superman, traditionally, are classically handsome and manly. Of course, when Keaton was cast back in the '80s, he broke with that tradition, not being classically handsome, square-jawed, etc. But my impression was that this was a very deliberate choice on Tim Burton's part. I didn't care for it, but I respect an assertive artistic choice like that. Burton wanted to subvert the classic superhero look, to go the opposite direction that Dick Donner took casting Chris Reeve as Superman. And theoretically, in the right movie, casting a more delicate, boyish actor like Hoult, as opposed to the ferocious masculinity of Ben Affleck, or the lean, austere manliness of Christian Bale, might work. But since James Gunn's pitch for his next Batman is to be a father figure for an adult Robin, and other members of the "Bat-family," including a biological child of his own. I think Hoult's look wouldn't quite be right for it. Of course, Hoult is an incredible, versatile actor, and might be able to make it work anyway. But for such a story, someone with a more paternal look would probably tell it better. Film is, after all, a visual medium first and foremost. That said, When he was in the running for Superman, I was kinda rooting for him. Again, Superman is traditionally depicted as more masculine, and when the 24 year old Brandon Routh was cast, his boyish features didn't quite evoke the character. But I think, in the right kind of movie, a softer, more delicate face for Superman might work, might subvert the archetype in a subtle, compelling way. And in doing so, add something interesting. I thought Corenswet looked a bit too much like like off-brand Henry Cavill. But you never know till you see. Like all art, making movies isn't a logical process, it's a visual process. You don't really know if it's gonna work till you see it working.
Neither of Matt Reeves' picks (Hoult, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Robert Pattinson) fit the "chiseled jawed, manly masculinity" of Batman because Reeves aimed in intentionally wanting his Batman to be based on Kurt Cobain. "Pretty boyish" yet a troubled recluse who hates being seen in the spotlight and has no idea what to do with his fame status as a notable public figure. But Hoult can play masculine. Have you missed out on him as Beast in X-Men First Class, Days of Future Past and Apocalypse.

@@rahimmiddleton2005 Yeah but those people must have been totally ignorant of Pattinson's recent work before Batman. Nicholas Hoult hasn't displayed the same capabilities or aesthetic with his roles.
Obviously why he lost out , doesn't have the right face for batman (or superman). pattison has model looks that work for what matt reeves is wanting for his version of emo/cobain year one batman. Affleck looked like Bruce Wayne from the comics and has square jaw leading man looks for a Dark Knight Returns batman, Bale had a sharp hawk like face perfect for batman/bruce (or bond), even keaton ppl said he wasnt right when cast but he looked perfect in the cowl and as bruce for what burton was doing the gothic burton version. i love the insight your imagination doesnt know
He should play Two Face
Oh come on, he would've done a superb job being Batman
Bond
cavill is next bond
@@bozotheclown169 boooooooo. respectfully.
I hope he’s considered. He’s got an edge to him which comes through in his eyes. Cavill doesn’t have that edge. He’s too two dimensional.
He tried to audition for Superman in this movie but he didnt get it. They offered him Lex.
I feel bad because this wasn’t the first time he auditioned for Batman neither
thats a crazy evil LEX laugh!
You can't lose a role that was never offered....no matter how much you put yourself forward and auditioned for Batman, Hoult was never going to get it. Just can't see him in that role. Everyone wants to be Batman, but I don't hear them saying how they lost out on the role.
WAIT but if he did nailed The Batman role then he couldn't do James Gun Lexx Luthor LOL. ROBERT PATTTSION ALSO TOOK A SECRET SELFIE TOO
Honestly, if i was in his place and knew pattinson is in contention for the role.
I would already have quit the audition, no other actor of his generation is winning up againist him. He is one of the best actors working in Hollywood, pure chameleon actor blessed with model looks.
RESPECTFULLY IDONT THINK HE COULD PULL OFF A GOOD BATMAN
RESPECTFULLY PLEASE TAKE OFF THE CAPS LOCK
People sayed the same about robert being batman look how good that turn out so you just never know
Better as Lex for sure
I thought Affleck would be bad. I now think he was the best Batman, second only to Kevin Conroy. Actors gonna act.
@@rahimmiddleton2005 Yeah but those people must have been totally ignorant of Pattinson's recent work before Batman. Nicholas Hoult hasn't displayed the same capabilities or aesthetic with his roles.
I thought Pattinson did an amazing job. But no doubt I would love to see his take.
between him and rob, it's rob all day - but with movie magic, i'm sure nicholas would've been fine
He should be 2 face or dr.hugo
Hes face is too soft to be batman , he can other characters tho , he has the look for a Robin
i think he could play a dick grayson now that you say it hes got the right height and everything for it
Obviously why he lost out , doesn't have the right face for batman (or superman). pattison has model looks that work for what matt reeves is wanting for his version of emo/cobain year one batman. The other 'fill in' batmen kilmer and clooney were standard leading men at the time , like keaton no want to do it, just get whoever kilmer he'll do, now Clooney whatever
He's not Batman, and I don't even think he is Lex tbh, I feel like Lex should be slightly older, so he could potentially become President in Future movies. Jimmy Olson maybe, or actually Riddler, or Joker even
He'd make for a great Harvey Dent.
Would have made a good Batman beyond. But we need a comic book accurate Batman like the guy who plays jack reacher not a emo looking goth like robert pat
Sorry but Robert’s jawline is unmatched
He comes on here snd is politely telling you hes uncomfortable about this topic especially being public and you lean into it and make him squirm.
Should have changed topics and told him how great that vampire movie was or something, Warm Bodies lol
Not bros style, he wants the clicks and likes!
Good actor but doesnt have that hero face like Pattinson
Nic Hoult isn't as "emo" enough for emo Batman.
Pattinson got yo ass
They will regret choosing Robert because he will not be there if they ever want him to do more than 3 movies and I bet that 3rd movie he won’t be as enthusiastic. Robert will be over the role you all wait and see.
They'll only want to do 3 and done like TDK trilogy. esp as Gunn wants new Batman . in fact they might not even do a 3rd
Hear me out: Bond?
Billionaire with a tech-suit? You got this, don’t worry about it 😀
Hoult would have done better staying away from capeshit and Billy Zane should have been cast as Lex Luthor in the upcoming Superman.
Zane shouldve been Lex in the 90s or 00s with Brendan Fraser as Superman, Sandra Bullock as Lois in a colourful fun action film directed by Brett Ratner or McG
He’s lost Batman and Superman? Damn
Does not have a darkness to be Batman, too bright.
It's called acting bud
Nah he was born to play lex. Hes always been the hero actor its time for him to embody a different personality of a cvillan.
Bruh you're going to be leading in the new Robert Eggers' Nosferatu .... what more do you want???
He doesn't have the look to be Batman / Bruce Wayne. He has the talent though.
Lost playing a billionaire who uses his money to help people to star as a billionaire who uses his money to help people.. in a different way. 😂
Oh no he really wanted it. I feel bad not now ☹️
Pattinson is the best Batman.
how does one lose what they never had
Just watched 24 seconds and the arm waving got on my nerves.
