Devin's a great art educator every time she gets to take a break from making awesome things to share her knowledge. If you haven't seen it, she does have a book that has her breaking down her processes a lot called Windows to Worlds.
I love the attempt at a kangoroo from memory that's in the thumbnail! That videos must be a good few years old now but i'm glad to see that the self aware joke is still going strong!
this video leaves an impact in my heart. It teaches people about the importance of anatomy in art and so much more.fills my brain with different dragon designs
just yesterday i went to the doctor and my doctor gave me the same pen shes using in the video!! It made me really happy since i loved the flow of it from what i saw from her last vid, and then this came out just then!
I love bread dragon so im so glad we could see her process!!! It's amazing she can do this without references and it just immediately came to her! Like cat / reptile -> lion king -> spike mane. Which i LOVE! Such a cool idea!!! It's cool to see you exploring the design in different angles. Its nice to see the actual design doesn't come to you immediately. You have an idea spike mane then you play with it until you like it. 10:20 the story component is such a big thing for me! I would love a class on getting an idea start to finish cause thats where i have trouble. Like thinking of the idea "toad shape with armor" then going about the design. How she gets her references and combining them to get the best design down then making a great illustration 13:01 i love this expression too. "Im not looking at you " *totally checking if you finish your food*
so weird how people are worried about finding style. LIke, learn to draw as good as you want first. Learn to draw like your favorite artists. That's way more important than having a style
At the same time, learning how to draw like your favourite artists come from seeing their stylisations. It would be much more beneficial to point to the basics and foundational levels of art of reality instead of saying "learn to draw as good as you want first". That actively involves style
We're not the best source for that, unfortunately. Depending on the field you're looking to get into, there are some good conventions for networking or learning how others get jobs like The Cartoonist Coop newsletter.
Oh okay gotcha, another random question do you ever offer like critiques of artwork?? Like people showing you their art and you give them suggestions on areas to improve?

I think adults who say they are too old to learn how to draw are just people who don't really care about drawing. If someone really wants to learn they will learn no matter how old they are.
I am a beginner at drawing and I really love manga.I wanna learn how to draw them. I request you to make a video about it just explain it on the surface and advice me on how to get better. Please make the video if u find it different from marvel comics.❤
That's Devin! We have a couple videos with her on the channel. She has her own but doesn't post much. You can find her on IG at instagram.com/devinellekurtz/
There are RJ Palmer style grounded creatures and there are others that are a little more fun for their own sake. These are more in that second camp, with a little bit of design basis from life. It's okay to just have fun with it too.
A huge thanks to Devin Elle Kurtz for the sketch demo! If you missed the first part you can find it here - ruclips.net/video/2h6nh84QyZ8/видео.html
DID YOU SEE THE PICTURE I SENT
@@nozukocemane5736 No need for the yelling lol. Where did you send a picture?
I love how everything just flows for her. Very inspiring, thank you for this.
She's a great talent! She worked hard for it and it paid off.
Never thought about using different species as reference before that's neat.
She is so good at explaining what she is thinking about while she’s drawing all the different things. I love this

I love this Channel everytime they are giving amazing drawing style tips
I'm a little envious of people who can create things like that, I can only draw from references and not create original characters, she's amazing ❤
This is such a cool piece of content and it’s really great to be a part of such a interesting convention. Thanks for posting this Stan.

9:28 Damnn a coin dragon!! What an amazing concept
Right??
that thumbnail got me, the haunting curse of the kangaroo...
WoF fans: “But I don’t want unique dragons. I want to draw the same side profile 200 times”
So cool! My English isn't that good, but I can learn something just by watching
The coin dragon is insane.. glad i watched this and discovered her 9:31
That's one of our favorites too. The coin lure and rattle are a great concept.
I haven't had much drawing and sketching classes or courses but I'd really like to learn how to do this.

😭
Never too late to learn.

The "creepy" dragon reminds me of Joanna from "Rescuers Down Under".
Who the f is she ?! .......like,, her explanation is better than half of the tutorials i see.😂

Noice
Maybe I should become an artist for real...
is that a ... kangaroo :0
Unfortunately, yes lol
Any chance that the drawing on the thumbnail is your kangaroo piece?
Yep!
I didn't know anglerfish existed for real...
Howd u know i was drawing dragons
I have serious difficulty drawing animals
still waiting for kangaroo merch...
Again pandemic situation??
Backlog demo video
kangaroo detected
.
Im completly not in my httd era
Why are they wearing masks?
This was recorded a couple years ago. We have a pretty deep backlog of recorded demos.
It was this thing called Covid
Even if it wasn't suring covid, people dont like getting sick. I
the good old cov years :)
Idk I'd be wearing a mask at a convention AT MINIMUM
demo 1 straight up sucks, that body will not be able to hold that neck and head up this is why it looks weird.
