Larsen really blamed that defeat on the altitude in Denver, and he's such a self-critical guy, and so modest, I tend to believe it didn't help. He kept on attacking in every game, didn't believe in draws. Also - Fischer is quite good?
Thank You, Ingvar! There will be a lot of stories from the old days in the future. Maybe we should have a joint session one day and discuss the state of icelandic and danish chess :)
A great player - I've owned his best games book for years. He was very original stylistically. It's a shame in a way that many people remember him for losing that match to Fischer.
He was "very sneaky" - indeed! There's an old BBC Master Game DVD from about 1980, where he absolutely swindles a long end game against Byrne or someone, I think. Commentating the whole time! That's why I always play the Larsen opening as white, it's dead easy, I'm only 1200 but it throws club players and gets them a little bit out of book, compared with D4, E4. b3 for the win!
White's position looked fine to me, until he sac'd that piece - there must be some way for White to exploit that horrible Bg8, to get it out you have to weaken your whole kingside structure. Maybe ...Be5 and ...f6 instead of ...d5.
More Larsen content pls
Thank You and there will be a lot more about Larsen coming
Wow, this is amazing! Always nice to see games by Larsen, he is very underrated (mainly due to that Denver defeat).
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you - there will be more Larsen videos :)

Fascinating game and nice to get a first-hand encounter with the Great Dane!

Please show/analyse at some point B. Larsen - T. Petrosian Santa Monica 1966 with the famous queen sac. on g6.
It will come (this year)

Yeah Bg8 is out of the game, but only temporarily. The sacrifice was of course incorrect, but also underlined the point: Bent was absolutely fearless!
