ASEAN did everything it could to emerge as an exciting region, buts its future as an economic superpower is still a story yet to be seen. Do you think it can really live up to its potential? Let us know your thoughts down below!

@Muhammad Daffa Yuansa right.. the challenge for Asean is only the westerners.. since they like to tell Asean countries what to do and what not to do in the market.. then they would threaten the Asean countries if the Asean Countries don't follow what they want lol..

With the cooperation of Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Philippines and others in the asean regions it’s former dream to organize and have Asean Dollar will be a reality. It will achieve the long awaited progress and success economic wise is possible already. Our Asean dollars will be backed up by gold and tons and tons of gold.

The Philippine economic miracle has officially started! Through the economic reforms and liberalization spearheaded by the current administration, thousands of foreign investors have expressed interest in investing in the Philippines. I'm glad that Filipinos are finally opening their eyes to the concept of globalization and economic liberalization. Indonesia, Brunei and Malaysia are parliamentary members of OIC, while they also members of ASEAN. They can bridge the economic alliance between ASEAN and OIC members to counter the economic dominance of China and USA.
ASEAN could use some cheap oil products, while Middle-East countries could enjoy cheap agricultural products, and the Islamic African countries can reap the benefits of both to boost their economic growth.

When Italy and Spain adopted the Euro, a strong currency (giving up their weaker currencies), their exports became uncompetitive and expensive, causing economic slowdown. An ASEAN currency would hurt the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Vietnam, mostly benefiting only Singapore, Brunei, and Malaysia. It is basic economics as a stronger currency means your exports are more expensive overseas and if your exports are low on the value chain, like natural resources or shirts, you will lose a lot.

No that will not be good. A single currency would not take into account different ASEAN nations development stages. It is basic economics.
