at the 15:00 minute-mark, Tim Timberlake says, “the reason I believe God was asking Moses to remove his sandals, because sandals was a form of protecting your feet… God is simply telling Moses, ‘you don’t have to worry about protecting yourself in my presence.’” well, first, God did not ‘ask’ Moses to remove his sandals. in verse 5 God says, “Do not come near, take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” this was not a request. instead, we know in Semitic cultures that feet were dirty and even showing the bottoms of them to others is an overt sign of disrespect. taking sandals off is in reverence and respect.
however, his mentioning of Exodus 12 (re: eating Passover whilst keeping their sandals on) was accurately stated, both Scripturally and regarding cultural context. then again, at the 21:20-minute-mark Tim says, “the second reason I believe God told Moses to kick off your shoes is because the Father never rushes you out of His presence.” here, he makes the allusion to God ‘telling’ Moses to remove his sandals, which is correct.
This is so good
Is there a version with the worship? It was so good and I to be able to share it all and enjoy it again.
