Thanks great video it made the job easy. Just changed a failed head light bulb on my 2000 Porsche Boxster S 1st car I’ve ever changed a head light bulb on in over 30 years of owing cars!.
Couple things. You are missing the rubber plug that covers the opening. Second the Porsche tool is very soft metal. It works in an emergency, but I always use a socket as mine no longer works.
Hi… love your videos. Could you please help me? The little plastic thing that you unscrew, at 1:20 in the video…. Both of mine are missing. Could you please give me the part number, so I can order a couple? Thank-you.
Did I notice that the wires, attached to the main and high beam had cracked insulation? Mine were that way, but a lot worse. Had to replace the entire cable harness. They are not made to do that. It is a hack, just like your heater duct fix was a "hack". Wish I could upload photos
@@HelpMeDIY For some reason, the headlight area is much worse than any other area on my 2000. I suspect it may be due to using some of the newer brighter (and presumably hotter) bulbs
+Tom Mou there are, but it’s a cool modular design. On the back of the assembly there is a sort of plug and plugs into the other end attached to the body of the car. Hard to explain in words, but when the headlight is properly seated it plugs that connection in by itself
@@HelpMeDIY thanks I know what you mean :-) I enjoy your vids.. just bought the LED tail lights.. Have you considered the LED after market headlights ?
Has anyone figured out how to remove the inner Fresnel lens that gets the running egg syndrome and successfully reassembling the lamp housing without the Fresnel?
Don't want to be a nitpicker but the upper bulb is actually the low beam and the lower is the high beam, might make a difference to someone working on their own car. Well explained and easy to follow otherwise.
I upgraded mine to the Sylvania H7 Zevo LED and highly recommend them. They are more efficient than halogen to prevent the burnt headlight lens issue common with these cars, and what little heat they produce is dissipated through the ballast at the back. The installation is a bit different, you install a metal adapter which is identical to installing a halogen H7 bulb, then just screw in the LED bulb. Very ingenious and no modifications necessary. It's a whiter, brighter light. www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/h7-sylvania-zevo-led-headlight-bulbs-2-pk-0200505p.0200505.html
Brilliant video yet again could you do a gearbox oil change video please

Yeah I have a bad feeling that my (terrible) painter lost it. Turned out the headlight assembly was just pushed back into place and not secured 😒
@@HelpMeDIY no loss. the OEM tool stinks
What’s the with round thing next to the lamps?

+Paul Jones thanks! I actually have a separate video on how to find Porsche part numbers. That should help! 🍻

Yes I think so. Insulation in this car really shows its age!

+Guy Spaulding that’s very likely
That may be a silly question but are there no wires from the headlights to the car's electrical system ?

+Richard Calon absolutely correct! I figured this out when I upgraded them with a retrofit kit. The companies video had it backwards too...
Which one is the turn signal bulb?
+Kayhan Yegenoglu I think it’s the little one on the side

Thank you@@HelpMeDIY
How do you change the round light that the bulbs go into to ???
+Yvon Bourbonnais you would have so take the whole headlight assembly apart. I have a video for that as well.
