    This video is super helpful, I just got my RO Buddie in today and I wasn't completely sure about the chloramine situation!
    For those in the comments debating on buying this VS buying distilled at the grocery, buying distilled water will add up much quicker than just buying one of these, I promise.

    Love your videos! Hey I would like to point out that a true RO system does actually remove Chlorine AND chloramine. It’s actually one of the two main reasons to have this in a home to remove the disinfectant used by the city. The membrane only allows molecules the size of water through. Chloramine molecules are too large to fit through the membrane.

    • @BobMossNanoTanks
      @BobMossNanoTanks  Год назад

      The carbon filter can remove some, but the RO membrane does not filter out chloramine.

    Yes! Words! I use RO for a "black water" tank I have for licorice gourami. I don't own a filter but rather buy refills of ro water from a local water store. Really affordable for one small tank. Though the ph ranges from 7.5 to 7.8, where my local tap water is around 7.2. I'm sceptical about the ro filtration and am considering buying distilled water instead. Higher price but for one small tank I hardly visit the store, maybe once a quarter.

    Thank you for the video, I just did my second change on this system and it’s been working great until right now, my sediment cartridge turned completely black when I was flushing out the system and no filter watered is being produced but waste water is coming out yellowish brown, I use this for my salt water tank would you have any suggestions on what i could’ve done wrong?

    • @BobMossNanoTanks
      @BobMossNanoTanks  5 месяцев назад

      Is your source water really high TDS? Sounds like the cartridge got exhausted really quickly.

    • @BobMossNanoTanks
      @BobMossNanoTanks  11 месяцев назад +1

      Pros and cons to both. A distiller is going to use more power and take more time, an RO unit requires expensive filter changes every 6-12 months.

    I just got this unit delivered today, I’m going to be hooking it up to my washing machine hook up.
    My question is do I hook it up to my cold water?

    • @BobMossNanoTanks
      @BobMossNanoTanks  Год назад +1

      the operating manual will be able to guide you a little better than me for that specifically. all i can really say is, it depends how cold the water comes out.

    cheap alternative to the DI filter refill. just buy the bag of resin off amazon, i bought the $120 bag and it will do 17 refills compared to the $40 refill cartridge

    I’ve had this RO Buddie for months and I tried to set it up and it wasn’t fitting on any of my sinks! Someone told me I had to unscrew and remove the aerator on the sink. ( what do I know im a single woman) 😂it’s still in the box like 6 months later but I’m glad you made this video. Maybe I’ll give it another go! Yup that's all you have to do. grab some vice grips or something and remove the end of your tap from the faucet so that you can see the threads and just screw the adapter on. that said, if you have an ugly wash basin like i have it's best to use those lol

    What PH does the water you get have? no matter how much water pressure you put into the system

    • @BobMossNanoTanks
      @BobMossNanoTanks  Год назад

      the pH on RO water is negligent. It's going to swing wildly between each reading as there is nothing to buffer the pH. In normal water, the KH value is what buffers the pH and in our caridina tanks it's the substrate that does it. That's why we add minerals back into it to reach the desired TDS and pH.

    Aight I bought the RO buddie like you told me to do through video indoctrination, right? But now I need to use the male/male plastic faucet adapter that comes with it and holy crap it s so hard to remove i need a wrench each time and I think the threads wont survive for long unless I find some clever trick to remove it from my faucet without using a wrench. But unlike you I made my own T shaped structure with wood to anchor the RO Buddie to it so I can easily carry it around and put it anywhere I want lol, just missing a handle on it if I ever wanna go fancy to step up my DIY game!
