The next stop for the entourage is the new Children's Hospital in Pyongyang. Contrary to preconceived ideas about health care under the regime, the team are pleasantly surprised to learn how clean and modern the facilities are. Could this be the apparent upturn in the economy or is it all staged?

They even stage a hospital ??? A children's hospital . Unbelievable
We don't really know that they do for sure; it's just like the guy said: we don't know how to figure out what's real and what's not.
~:~
Ofcourse they have hospitals.
they hire these kids for a free candy bar
Why would one stage a hospital... That's a very wild claim especially as shown with no evidence. They try to make the fact that they weren't allowed to film patients being treated as some sort of suspicious thing, yet to me it seems perfectly normal. Imagine if some camera man just stormed into your room while you're lying sick on the hospital bed. No country would allow that due to privacy laws and such.
Likewise as in any country they aren't going to have the cameramen arrive during the busiest time there. Richard Roberts in the video said that during his own visit there was a lot of activity and people were being treated just like in any other country
The fact there is doubt about the legitimacy of a built and functioning large hospital is something i find disheartening. There is absolutely nothing for them to gain for faking a hospital.
Edit: added some more things to the comment
@@SapphFire Right, even if some things were staged for this specific visit (which is possible but there's no concrete evidence), it doesn't mean that this isn't a normal, fully functioning hospital any other time. It's not like they would spend all the money to build an entire hospital, get all that equipment, etc just to show to foreigners; it wouldn't even benefit them given all the costs.
North Koreans are humans too. They require and give medical treatment. Many people become medical doctors. People get sick and go to the hospital, just like anyone else. Now, of course there are some caveats because this hospital is in Pyongyang which is generally more well off than other parts of the country. So those who are more wealthy or have higher social class are more likely to be able to go to better hospitals, but honestly that's not so different from some other countries. And it also doesn't mean that there aren't hospitals in the other cities; they just might not have as many resources.
We need to remember that the vast majority of North Korea's issues stem from the government, not the average people. They are not just brainless zombies; they have lives. Yes of course, I disagree with the North Korean government as much as the next person and 99.9% of the world. But a lot of people take that a step further and approach any information on North Korea with preconceived assumptions that are automatically negative, and the cycle of confirmation bias begins. As a good starting point it's better to go off of information that came from actual defectors, or if you're gathering information from outside news sources that visit and report on North Korea, try to get different perspectives, not just the ones that make the biggest headlines.

Looks completely staged, and well rehearsed.
my left ear enjoyed it
same
Mattia Schmid lol my right ear enjoyed it also...
My left ear is happy
I was looking for this comment
The children look tense
The thumbnail - that painting , wow.
Even when North Koreans are cut off from the outside world they have talent in art .
That’s an amazing painting .
Well the reason you see so few patients is because children in the DPRK live healthy, radiant lives under the eternal light of the Great Leader Kim Il-Sung.
The people are pretending to be sick to make it look real
that last guy was lying .
Okay how in the hell did that guy manage to say as much as he did about how it's staged and what not in North Korea out in the open on camera without being locked up and interrogated?
They treat foreigners well there because they are people with the money.
Generally British and Russian media outlets have better access and treatment than Americans
@jxhensley The BBC’s observations over the past 20 years have been correct, then.
Journalists have immunity for the most part, especially when they are part of the BBC which is one of the largest broadcasting networks in the entire world. If he was a freelance journalist, he probably would have never gotten a visa for journalism in the first place, therefor not even getting into the DPRK.
@@paradoxzee6834 that’s a lie
2:06 I love the kawaii (nuclear?) missile decorations on the wall!
Really gives it that distinct North-Korean flavour!
Lol remember the picture
At 1:30 The North Korean's stare is haunting. Very much like watching a character on a horror movie. The hospital seems extremely fake. Like a set of a movie. Scary
Its more like scared i think.. 🤔
any dignitary visit to such a facility, no matter the country, is staged to some degree.
True
@Ron D but this one goes beyond the limits and you know that
Ikr
Thank you!
Not fake p pop patients lol
It's so clean to the point of not even needing a cleaning staff lol but what hospital needs that when there's no patients to make a mess 😅
At 0:53 I am not sure if any certified doctor would allow a child with a curved spine to slouch while reading. If you are going to convince your visitors, please do not lie that poorly.
I don't know, I mean I probably wouldn't think it was staged if nobody told me they thought it was. A lot of people who are sick don't "look" sick.
That being said, the way that girl said "My spine is curved" did seem a little unrealistic and maybe like she was told to say it, and also a curved spine isn't normally something you go to the hospital for (when it's not to an extreme degree); I have that too and I'm fine.
Still though, I can understand them not showing the treatment of any children because whether it was faked or not, it's normal for a hospital to have patient privacy rules.
~:~
It is normal for a hospital to have patient privacy rules, but that would apply to all the children. The fact that they only wish to show some children, all of whom don't appear to have any illness that requires hospitalization, demonstrates how fake it is. "No, you must only see these students we hand picked, you can't see any of the other ones" lol!
Yea I get that not all patients don’t look sick on the outside but the fact they only showed healthy looking kids with stuff that probably just need routinely doctor visits is sus
"My spine is curved"
I'd reply "show me proof"
It's actually NORMAL to have a slight bend one way. Like 10% or more have it. Not a humpback but left or right. I have it. No hospital ever required. Just something the doctor noticed.
Girl - “I’m in the hospital for curved spine”
Me- “ I have a curved spine and the doctor gives me pain meds and sends me on my way and does a check up every few months to make sure it don’t get worse”
Unless she just got there to get it checked if it’s real or it’s that bad
thankyou BBC for opening the real dark realities of north korea
Yes
the reason he was taken into custody was because he endangered the visit of the nobel laureates.
How much of the BBC is real??? My guess is not much..
Think of the incredible amount of work, brain power and creativity, and above all massive amounts of money to stage all this. That in itself is impressive.
Staged
North korea: (does anything)
Everyone: ITS STAGED!!!
Because it is. At least this is, I mean just look at it.
@Кошка-сокровище quit it with the politics on a joke reply to a joke comment
@@johnhenrymills4517 Yes this does looks staged but the fact that North korea can’t do anything without the outside world claims it’s fake or staged is just ridiculous.
Lol, that sir has to say that, because he would be detained if he didn't.
So threatening glance at 1:28.
Wow, that M.D. at 1:37, if he was really an M.D. got flushed and sweaty looking when he said no, nobody can see the kids being treated as if he was going to be caught lying.
Would have liked to see if Louis had the balls to ask dangerous questions lol
Those girls look absolutely petrified
1:18 What a ridiculous request! You are absolutely not allowed to make such a request in any children's hospital around the world, coz it violates Child Protection regulations. I bet you're not allowed to make such abrupt request in NHS hospitals in the UK...
Well the fact they were only allowed to see healthy looking children or kids with stuff that can be treated with routinely doctor visits is sus Lmao u could tell those doctors that said no were hiding something
What’s more ridiculous is the fact that you think NK has the same laws or rules as other normal countries 😂
🍲 Thank you
Likely the hospital for only the kids of high ranking military and party members.
0:56 Morpheus, is that you?
Could you imagine if North Korean journalists came to your local GP surgery while you were waiting for an appointment and called you a plant?
@AwesomeFightScenes&Comedies some do, who do you think run their embassies
what's the point in this video, we know it's theatre
that patient need oscar😅
Acting is a national sport in south korea .
I like the color
Are we on the stage?
Poor kids
“ Because we’re in a children's’ hospital we have to respects the rules and …”
Downright nonsense.
You can tell by the way he talks .
It’s really ‘ If I show them the reality of North Korea not being able to treat any patient Kim is going to execute me ‘
I feel so bad for that man .
Try going into a random children's hospital and ask to record some children, you'll be met with the same type of reaction
Ngl this is how Mexico feels sometimes.
all staged, its way too clean
I see the 50 cent army has arrived before me
Are you a Yellow Thief?
thepalacemaid ??
Sir, you are no master of sanctions.
Who is here watching after King Jong Un’s death news..!!??
He’s not dead bro
north Korea never let other countries see the trueth😂
Stupid doctors asking those children questions. They know it’s staged literally and you can see how frightened they are. Why would they ask them? Any wrong comment can be their death sentencing. Reporters from other countries or anybody traveling to North Korea need to stop asking people and specially children questions! They literally have no idea how to respond because they are scared of saying the wrong thing
It's staged, go upstairs and find a horror movie going on.
No asprin no bandages no nothing
According to the Goebbels' media propagandists of the imperialist West!
DPRK the best country in world💐💐💐
Every child deserves best health care absolutely free, No matter where, this puts to shame every human on earth.
People say North Korea is bad
Come on
It's a heaven
