  • 4 TYPES OF ANALYTICS // No matter what type of analytics you’re doing and how much data you’re utilizing, analytics typically fall into 4 categories. We’re going to look at those 4 types of analytics in today’s video.
    Analytics covers a broad range of topics and detail. There’s not just one type of analytics that we’re performing. The goals of your analysis will typically fall into 1 of 4 major categories of analytics.
    You’re typically going to want to describe, diagnose, predict, or prescribe.
    These 4 types of analytics build off of each other. You move through:
    descriptive analytics
    diagnostic analytics
    predictive analytics
    prescriptive analytics
    The four stages of analytics will feel very familiar if you think about what happens when you get sick enough to go to the doctor.
    We’ll look at this example and explore further into each of these analytics types.

    I have a masters in business administration but I was thinking of going back to school for data science or data analytics. It seems like every job I see for an MBA also wants you to know or have a degree in some type of analytics at the same time. So I was wondering exactly which type of an analytics degree do I really need? I've taken a class in python programming and a class in database design, even though I'm not really good at SQL, because I haven't used it much yet. I was thinking about starting with a gradute degree in data analytics at UNC Charlotte, and then see what happens from there. I also like computer science in general. What are your thoughts about what I might need. UNC-Charlotte claims to have a masters in what they call data science/data analytics. Does that sound like a good program of classes to get into? Your description of the analytics process was better than a basic data analytics course I took and its text book.

      It sounds like you might be looking at more technical jobs if they're looking for an MBA with also a degree in analytics. You could go after a grad degree in analytics or you could focus on building the skills outside of a degree environment. Many grad programs in analytics don't tend to include much programming (usually general introduction level) so you might also supplement with something like DataCamp(bit.ly/TCFDataCamp). UNC Charlotte's program looks good and I like their focus on a practicum environment where you'll get hands on business experience.

      @@TheCareerForce it seems like analytics jobs far out number any job for just an MBA. The only thing I can say for sure is that if you want a good job today you better know computers at some level, that includes data science, which obviously uses computers.

    I have bachelor's degree in Science Economics and I would like to become healthcare analyst, what should I do to become analyst in healthcare, Thanks for your advice .

    • @lolylolay
      @lolylolay 4 года назад +1

      There are many ways you can become a healthcare analyst. The most direct one is to get a master in healthcare analytics or data analytics. If you don't want to go that route, you can teach yourself Python or R and SQL and learn data visualization program like Tableau. You will also need to know Statistics. just like the 4 types of analytics Jenn explained in this video Descriptive, Diagnostic, Predictive and Prescriptive they all come from Statistics. Oh I should not forget the famous Excel specially Pivot Table and V-Lookup. Hope that helps.
