Indonesian is similar to Malaysian, because we are the same language. and Malaysian ancestors came from our country. My advice is to go to Bromo or Ijen Crater, it's just that the air there is quite cold.

it's amazing that Carolina & Jay can eat local foods of Indonesia and seem to like them all making me want to eat rawon, meatballs, milo shakes also. This night street food market in Surabaya is very huge, there are not so many night market in other cities as big as the Kodam's Night Street Food Market. The videos and reviews are very good and the sellers are friendly and honest. Mantap

Black colour in rawon from special spices, keluwak (kluwek/kepayang).. .if you make mistake with keluwak/kepayang you will drunken (mabuk kepayang).. .

Here is surabaya’s favorite food recommendation from me : rawon, rujak cingur, soto cak har, soto madura, satay madura, tahu tek, bebek madura, bebek sinjai, and many more. Try it bro..
Apart from BOROBUDUR TEMPLE, there are also many natural tourist attractions... Magelang is also a cool city... you can see the mountains that surround Magelang.

Such a great video! Loved that you two are walking around trying different things. One of my biggest worries with traveling is what you described at 6:30. See, I'm allergic to seafood, so if that were seafood in the middle of the cheese looking marshmallow thing, I'd be a bit uneasy. lol

A little advice, if you go to a crowded place, always put your bag in front of your body, wallet in the front pocket if you have one, not in the back or on the side, because in a matter of seconds it can be lost. just in case, unlucky days are not on the calendar and on the alaram😄

FYI: Rawon has recently been named the number one most delicious soup in the world. Taste Atlas has crowned Rawon as the most delicious soup in the world. The deep dark colored soup from East Java, Indonesia got a 4,8 score out of 5.

Since you are at surabaya, you should check Pakuwon city mall. There is a place beside the mall that u can try some meat to grill. It start open from 5 pm until night and the event finish until october. Have a great adventure and welcome to surabaya.
Next try martabak manis..you can choose mix with many ingredients, I am sure jay will like it..price between 30 thousand rupiah up to 50 thousand depend on the size

You should! That Street Food market was one of the best ones we've ever been to 🙌 Bahasa Indonesia was definitely easier to learn haha but we also spent more time on Java where people did speak limited English! So we were kid of forced to learn quickly 😆

Jay, you're in my city!! It's not the cheapest city in Indonesia, but still, if you chose wisely $10 can fill you up until you’re sick. And KODAM is a suuperr wise choice. Other option I'd recommend would be Taman Bungkul. I'd implore you always has a bottle of drinking water ready by your side, it's really hot these days
LET’S GO! We had a lot of fun in KODAM and we’ve been to Taman Bungkul we went to Rawon Kalkulator and it was delicious 😋

If You too go to Surabaya again. You can go to the "Pasar Atom", "Pecinan Market", "Gwalk" there many lokal food.
Try also the food name is Gado-Gado, Tahu Campur, Nasi Pecel, Tahu Tek, Rujak Cingur, Rujak Manis, mie ujung pandang, sate ayam, sate kambing, etc...
Many lokal food you can try in every city in indonesia hehehe
