@Ras Alghul I remember she Patty interviewed I think on Mtv after Sammy Hagar was picked as the new lead singer for VanHalen. She said they offered it to her first but she turned it down.
After hearing "Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough" and being moved to tears by the raw passion of the Patty Smyth/Don Henley vocal split, then hearing "No Mistakes" and hearing her use the pain in the lyric as a form on healing, I BEGGED my mom and stepdad to buy me the full-length. They gave it to me as a birthday gift. For years, and even now, this record was my law. I love every song on it, and still do. It's perfect, both in presentation and production; every song a canny blend of slick and soulful, grace and grit, mood and melody...all these things blend together without being maudlin or maundering, which is a huge plus. I still listen to the CD at least once a week, and I will do it until I'm buried.
I agree that it's perfect. ['m a super nit-picky guy re performance and production and find...um...no mistakes. Everyone playing on this album is in top form. I'm not a drummer but the album is a wonderful example of not overplaying and keeping things in reserve and tasty. One of my very favourite albums and grateful that Patty's again recording :)
I don’t like all this stuff in comments on RUclips about this person better than that person etc. We should just appreciate what all the artists mentioned in these comments here have accomplished in their career. Patty Smyth solo or with Scandal made great music. Like many other singers, some that we might have never even heard of singing in bars, Patty Smyth had and still has a great voice. What makes a great singer to me is the character in the voice, Patty Smyth has much of that in spades. Lots of talent out there, let’s just enjoy what they all bring.

From the days when songs were WRITTEN and constructed, starting with thoughtful lyrics and evocative, atmospheric melodies, working with layers of guitars, keyboards, bass and pounding drums, arranging the music and vocals so that each riff, each drum hit, each syllable had maximum effect and impact. This isn't modern pop, where someone pounds out a beat on a cheap-ass Casio keyboard and soaks the "vocal" in layers of Auto-Tune. This is REAL pop-rock. It's a throwback to a simpler time; a flashback, and a damned good one.
Well said i agree, love listen to that kind off music when i grow up with it,hard to find some good stuff now , and about the drums i m a drummer and the drums sounds just right, love the beat greetings.
I agree. Autotune, drum machines, sampling and billshit lyrics can kiss my ass. I like real good songwriting like this stuff. Patty Smyth is the real deal. I love her. God bless her and good music.
Everybody's got opinions. At age 58, I'd say Patty is one of the greatest (by far) female vocalists rock has ever seen. She came on the scene in the early 80s' with Scandal. Nobody really knew what she would do in the long run. As far as technical prowess, she's in say the top 5. Tina Turner would be up there, for instance. It's a disappointment to everyone that she did not become a "big" star. I for one felt she truly deserved it. She was upfront about feeling she needed to tend to her family, so that does come first. In any even, all of her records are first class, no bad cuts. She's got to play and sing with the best. Anyone who knows who she is gives her respect big time. In the end, that is enough.
She surely had the swagger and the chops. She could have very easily been Sammy Hagar fronting Van Halen and had lived in rock infamy, had she accepted Eddie's offer. She deserved the top, but I don't personally think she wanted it. She dropped out of Scandal at their height. After her 2nd solo album scored a massive international hit, she declined to record another album for 20 years. I think she was content doing what felt right and not thinking what would result in financial gains and fame. Which is, really, the epitome of badass. She is badass.

Patty Smyth .,..... you is amazing I've listened to your music all my life since i was born .................. you are a great inspiration to me . much love
Absolutely. And have you ever noticed that many of the most successful men vocalists (Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger, Randy Newman, and Kris Kristofferson come to mind) can't come close to the vocal quality of artists like Melissa Manchester, Patty Smyth, Ann Wilson and Vonda Shepard? It's almost like the women have to have better voices than the men just to get noticed.
good song that I'm surprised only went to #33, I remember this song getting a fairly good amount of airplay back in 1992 but it's one of those songs that has vanished from the airwaves ever since its release, I also felt Patty Smyth should have had a more successful career as a solo artist.

The sepia tones of sadness set to a rocking beat
One of the greatest women of rock, but sadly underrepresented.

Don't know how I missed out on your excellent talent. So glad for RUclips Patty You are Excellent. You are an amazing singer and performer. You Rock!!!!
Patty Smyth .,..... you is amazing I've listened to your music all my life since i was born .................. you are a great inspiration to me . much love
Her duet with Don Henley was phenomenal❤
she was a better vocalist and preformer than most gave credit for, at least Henley saw it
So did Eddie van Halen
I saw it and still do!!
@@reverendjimjones5633 Yep. He wanted her to front Van Halen but she turned him down.
he saw dat ass
It's almost like the women have to have better voices than the men just to get noticed.
this is a great song from a great album. pity she didn't make more.
Still amazing.
I have read your touching comments and I genuinely appreciate you being a fan of mine, I hope you enjoy listening to my songs?
@@KeithUrban216 Always
1992? Good lord, where has time gone? Seems like this was just yesterday.
good song that I'm surprised only went to #33, I remember this song getting a fairly good amount of airplay back in 1992 but it's one of those songs that has vanished from the airwaves ever since its release, I also felt Patty Smyth should have had a more successful career as a solo artist.
It did reach #4 on the Adult Contemporary charts. I heard this most on AC Stations.
Blame corporate radio putting this song to sleep. Excellent song....and yes it did get a lot of air play. One of her best songs that she did!
There are no mistakes in this song. Please make more Patty.
I love Patty Smyth and always have, from her first to her last.....I love Patty Smythe!
Thank you for your love and support, I'm blown away by the love from you. Fans like you are the reason I keep moving, I hope you have been well entertained over the years?
I think that ou could release this today as a country and western song and have a huge hit. Beautiful job.
It's my outmost pleasure having you here, thanks for your support you have been giving me all these years, I won't be here if not for you my lovely fan. I hope you find joy and happiness in my songs?
That Patty Smyth and Scandal cassette stayed in our player for weeks at a time when we discovered her back in the good old days.
Patty and her music is 'now'...just that most of these songs were released today, they'd get played on country radio. That's where this kind of rock gets played these days. Hip hop and dance pop own t-40 radio now.
times change, radio formats change. a good singer and good song live on
This is Such an AWESOMELY BEAUTIFUL SONG!! Patty doesn't get the credit she deserves...and can you believe this song is 27 years old!!!!!
She was legend..
Greetings from the Caribbean I've known this song for so many years but now I'm actually living it thank you for sharing your heart now I understand

The Best of the 80's, Patty Smyth, beautiful voice.
Im only just discovering Patty Smith. What a great voice . She should have been a huge star.
I discovered her back in 1983 when MTV was watchable. Back then she sang with a group called Scandal. I've loved her music ever since.
Thanks for the support. It's my outmost pleasure having you here, thanks for your support you have been giving me all these years, I won't be here if not for you my lovely fan. I hope you find joy and happiness in my songs?
Spring/Summer of 1993... I remember this great song so well. It was definitely one of my go to's
I met Patty at 98 Rock radio in Ft Myers , FL .
in 1989. She was very nice and laughed at all my jokes. This is one of my favorite songs.
Love this song along with Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough, makes me think of being in high school when I had nothing but time on my hands to just sit in my room and listen to music.
same here moon
This song shows her versatility...the capability of doing an intense badass song like Warrior and then switch to a slower soothing song like this....
Abinash Mishra The Warrior kicks ass!!
Patty has a awesome rock voice.
What an era of female artist this was. Belinda Carlisle, Patty Symth..so many others. I miss this time.
Chills. Probably one of the songs from my childhood that I think of the most

My platonic love of the 80's
Ally McBeal brought me back here :) This song really takes me back! It's so good to hear it again after all these years. Too bad she didn't have more hits besides this and Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough.
I’m so glad I’m not the only Ally McBeal fan! That was one of my favorite episodes, too! Great song....great lyrics. Very genuine voice.

@darkmike333 -her music has passed the test of time. The sign of a truly talented artist. I can' believe this song is almost 20 yrs old now. The ones you mentioned are considered classics now. I remember listening to "The Warrior" until my cassette tape was warped.
I miss Patty! She has a unique vocal! Miss the rocker-chicks of yesterday : )
Brilliant singer ❤️
