As a Villa fan at the game, i thought Elliott and Endo were outstanding when they were on. We turned it up a gear given how Liverpool controlled it and slowed the game down. We went beserk in the last 10 mins and should have won it. Great game. Salute to Klopp.

Not just defending, how to counter attack like we used to. We are up there with the most wasteful teams in the league. We need to replace one of the forwards
Yeah. The attack right before half time where Gakpo can just pass it for a simple finish, pissed me right off
The forwards are always messing up, and they just laugh it off. Drives me nuts tbh. It's unprofessional and we always end up paying for it.
Scored 3. If you arent safe scoring 3, you have other issues...this isnt kids football. Teams win by defending well.
Our attack has always been nonchalant, like kids playing in the park, laughing like it doesn't matter when they miss, especially Salah.

I said this elsewhere, that Slot may well pay attention a lot more on our defending. It's our Achilles heel right now, and finishing. He may have the attitude where you don't mess around, and focus more on the game to enhance yourself.
Endo should never be subbed again!
mac alister had played really well for 75 mins and covered alot of ground.
then we take off endo and ask mac to be the cdm for the last 15 mins while villas subs run at him.
he was at fault for both goals the poor lad.
poor mistake from klopp but i dont care because hes given us everything and im gonna miss his grinning german chops.
Klopp always plays his favourites despite how they're playing. He has few flaws, but that's one of them.
Said it all season, no probably 18 months actually problem last season also, the high defence is a disaster with players we got, but people are adamant about making our forward's the scapegoats.

Says it all where the issue lies in my book 10+ goals conceded more during this season that's not finished compared to our best seasons in recent years.
Our defence is a shambles. Its unbelievable how easy teams get in behind us and pass across our 6 yard box for a tap in. Virg refuses to put his body on the line and throw himself in front of shots. He prefers to turn his back, bend over and stick his ass out.
Why should he put his body on the line in a dead rubber when he wants to make sure he’s fit for the euros? Imagine expecting the players to throw themselves around in a game that means absolutely nothing just so you can decide he’s still a decent player.

its the tactics, not vvd. i just think its to fluid of a system somtimes, to many gaps. we used to see out games like if we went ahead it would be a win so i dont understand it, klopp obviously knows how to make a system that defends well, but oh well. i was thinking the same as the title of this video while watching last 10 mins last night

Sorry, but 3 seasons of poor squad management over the course of a season has resulted in repeated failure under this manager. Now he cant manage a sustained performance over the course of a single game.

@@nawles1Well I disagree Wolves are favourites. But I do think his methods are unsustainable over the long term. We saw it at Dortmund and we're seeing it now. Brilliant first 5 years, but then it all falls apart. It's obvious he runs players into the ground and it just drains them. They've nothing left to give. Still love the man for all that's he's done, and he'll always be a legend here. But I hope for his sake he tweaks his methods a bit going forward.

Game sums up what the problems what we've got
1) play an inverted fullback doesn't work
2) Trent is such a lazy player now he just watched the Aston Villa player dribble passed Jarell , did nothing in the game
Need a better right back
3) Mac Allister losing concentration when the balls passed to him which resulted to the goal
It's not the first time him or Endo have lost the ball in that situation
We need a proper number 6 who understands about defensive situations
4) Mo is no longer the the fast quick winger who can run past defenders
And Diaz for always hard work let's creativity simple awareness an ability to dribble past players
Long gone have we've missed peak Mane & Mo
If we can buy two decent wingers and a good 6 we might have a chance next season
Absolute shambles once again. Klopp said he liked the character of the players. Is he smoking something?….the unbelievable character to be 3-1 up and cruising on 85 minutes and end up with a draw?…THAT character? Glad he’s going now to be honest. It’s time for a reset.

Cruising in most games and not taking chances story of the season , also last2 games klopp makes 4 subs takes Endo off in both games and we’re hanging on ,
It's a distinct lack of 'defending from the front' like we've had for years. That both leaves our defence exposed and also dilutes our breaks. It's been our downfall for the last few weeks really.

True. This attack doesn't press like prime Salah, Firmino and Mane, and the midfield doesn't press and isn't as defensively solid as prime Fab, Hendo and Gini. We're far too easy to play through. We shouldn't be playing an attacking 433 high tempo, high pressing high line system with these players.
The way we have played the last few months before Villa game I would of probably accepted a draw, but at 1-3 this result feels like a loss. I would imagine it won't take Slot long before he realises Curtis Jones is simply not a premier league player.
The drop of Szolosz is unbelievable, it's like West ham game the subs were not up to the task.
We have never been a team under klopp that prioritises defending and I am glad he stuck to his ways brought us some fantastic memories but I am looking forwards to a new era now the time is right for klopp and liverpool to move on it's been a pleasure sir ynwa
Not for first time klopp has decided to make changes that have gone against us in taking of players who were doing well such a sad end to his managerial career at Liverpool when it was all looking so bright only few months ago.
Another title could be I hope Slot knows how to coach offside positioning
The bigger picture is we had a group of players who were generational talents. Given our lack of spending (unless we sell) we have still overachieved being 3rd. But Bobby, Mane, Matip, Gini and a prime Mo, Robbo and VVD can't be unearthed again easily. I also think the likes of Szoboszlai and Gravenberch will need more time, same with Quansah. But we will never see a team as good as the 2018-2022 one I don't think.

3) close games down from the lead position

There is a real real issue in defence and with salahs final ball and nunez understanding of the offside rule. We’ve threw a parade away this season for sure.! Sad.

Yeah. Nunez again not reading the line. He's got electric pace, he doesn't need to go early whatsoever. Shows a serious lack of brains.
Diaz is so bang average people don't even feel the need to criticize him because it's expected of him. His final ball is hundred times worse than Salah
Nunez understands the offside rule but if the player who's passing it to him delays it with 1 extra touch before passing he's already ran ...its the ball being played late not the runner imo

Lad you’ve been watching us play for longer than me. Why would you even tempt to slag off Jurgen. Side was proper shite before. Don’t be daft. The inability for us to realize we brought in THREE new midfielders and took 3rd in the most competitive (on side quality) in the world. We have overachieved. I’ll be there with tears in my eyes doing the LEAST I can and clapping on Jurgen.
Since we won the premier League are transfer policy has been quite poor
Diaz and Gakpo don't really match what Klopp had out wide originally
With Mane and Mo at there that peak,
Both don't really function as in a front 3
Thiago /Mac Allister great ball players but they weren't the type of players what Klopp had in midfield
i.e Wijnaldum and Henderson
Endo is not close to this level of Lucas
So he's never going to be good enough to replace Fabinho
The fact we look at both Thuram and Kone
But opted for Gravenberch and Endo
We should have been all over Doku as we were linked with him for a couple of seasons
Just shows when Edwards left the recruitment be it from Klopp has not been good enough
Remember everyone...I'm weird according to Paul for saying Diaz is NOWHERE near good enough. He loses the ball in the attack and we get countered CONSTANTLY.
We tend to fall apart so easily.Seen us implode with regularity,Alison and van dijk being the main culprits with their dodgey slow passing at the back.Time for a new boss and tactics because my ticker can’t take this no more.Its starting to get embarrassing.
Tbh I thought the performance stunk of complacency. Also hate how poor out attitude has become as soon as small ref decisions go against us, just spit our dummy out like spoilt children rather than just getting on with it
I thought we played well and sometimse you just have to give the opponent credit, even though Villa looked dead and buried, you know with this team we're gonna conceede - shocking defence. We have looked awful in defence all season, just no one figured out how to hurt us until we got found out, and when they did, everyone knew. If we cant score 4 or 5, we're lucky to win a match - that has to change.
I've loved the gung-ho football Klopp has given us, it's been brilliant, but we do need to be bit more mean in defense, we look so open ALL THE TIME.
The more attention drawn to Liverpool's weaknesses the better, so that it can be worked on in the summer. Salah must be sold for some funds.
Endo removal was a car crash. We need another 6 if endo cannot do it.
It was a dissapointing end of season. The magic suddenly disappeared.
Need some reinforcement in DM, someone who have good aerial ability, so we could play the high defensive line more safely
As for the CM, it really makes me confused, because with how we played, we need someone with good physicality, someone who could tackle, but at the moment, all we have are very technical CM, dont get me wrong, all of them are good, but its really unbalanced.
While all the forward are not really clinical.
How have we gone from Mentality Monsters to pure Bottle Jobs???
Simple don't take a DM off and use a number 8 when you have a DM sat on the bench its cost us all season

Klopp was right when he said he didn’t have the energy anymore, he’s thrown this season away, injuries haven’t helped but his substitutions have been mental and lost us a lot of points

To be up 3-1 at 84 and end up drawing is disgraceful game management. What was that from VVD? A lazy hospital pass to Mac in our own box in the 85th minute? How complacent can you get? Himself and Trent need to be thrown into a big bath of boiling water. Wake up and start defending properly again. Stop being so casual ffs.
But tbh, there are issues in every part of the team. We need serious investment this summer, at least 3 new first team players: CB, DM and a forward of the highest quality. And if Slot wants to implement his 4231 then I'm all for it. We're crying out for something different. We're far too easy to play against and pass through. An extra holding midfielder helps with that, as would dropping the line back 10 or 15 yards. We need to protect VVD and Robbo better at this stage of their careers. And in a 4231 Trent could become more of an orthodox fullback, not flying forward all the time leaving gaps. It would help develop the defensive side of his game.
If you look at the league winners over the last 10 years they all bar City 2018, 2019 and 2021 played at least 2 holding/defensively responsible midfielders. Mourinho's Chelsea, Leicester, Conte's Chelsea, Liverpool 2020, City 2023 and 2024. Even Poch peaked at Spurs with 2 holding mids. Arsenal last season and this season have challenged for the league playing with 2 holding mids. Maybe it's coincidental, but then again there might be something to it. Maybe you need a better balance between defence and attack to be successful in this league. If Slot goes 4231 I'm all for it.

We havemt got the orecision rhat we used to have im the front 3. There was a pass Diaz made to Salah that Mane would have made easily. Not enough pace in the midfield and nor enough players come back to defend
Liverpool players dont know how to tackle 1v1. That is one of their biggest problems. They just stand in front of the opposition players and stick a foot in and never really win the ball. Only when the ball reaches Van Dijk or Endo do we truly stop any attacks. And that point is too far to be winning the ball back.

Average performance for me personally. I think they are still too sloppy in possession and attack. They are not clinical. Defensive they are absolutely clueless. I really hope Slot can teach them a thing or everything about good defending otherwise we are going to have a very bad season. The other very important factor that I don't see a lot of fans mention is good and effective on-field leadership. They lack that. Andy Robertson needs to be the captain. Liverpool needed someone like that or like McGinn last night.

Klopp has been great for the English game, but I do feel he has picked the right time to go, as I honestly feel the direction Liverpool have been going lately that he would have been sacked sooner rather than later.
They do say “you are only as good as your last game” and in recent games, Liverpool have been in decline.
All this talk of Quadruples and all they managed is the League Cup, given what has been spent, is not good and is Liverpool going backwards.
Maybe we should not have had all four subs on at same time?? Maybe just one sub ? Or could we have hung on without making all four substitutions a boo boo by Klopp does anyone agree cause things fell apart after all four substitutes were made so frustrating!!

He's a DIFFERENT man. 'New Manager' doesn't mean that it's a robot-clone of your favourite person.

Slot's attacking tactics are not the same. There are some similarities but quite simply his teams don't press as anywhere near as high or anywhere near as aggressively. He actually likes his teams keeping possession which tends to gives them a much better chance of been able to set up a solid defensive structure. Hence why his teams are so rock solid defensively. Also he is far more adaptable and willing to make changes in game depending on the opponent. Honestly it wouldn't suprise me at all if he looked at this team and decided 3 at the back is the best solution with Trent playing essentially as an attacking RWB a bit like Frimpong at Bayer Leverkusen this season and putting Szobolzai back in his natural number 10 position with McAllister and whoever the new CDM is behind him. Let's it could be Tuen Koopmeiners who he has worked with and is incredibly adaptable in midfield.
Why have we always got a fuck up in this team nearly every week. I am looking forward to playing a new better way.

Liverpool will finish with 82 points if we beat Wolves. We will strengthen the squad in the summer. Arne Slot needs to get over 80 points next season minimum or he has under-achieved.

This game is not about a drop off. They have nothing to push for. They can only finish 3rd, Villa are fighting to secure CL. You want them to push their hardest they’ve ever pushed in a game that means nothing? Why? It’s not that deep.

It’s really not that deep. The team are on the beach and Villa are fighting for CL. There doesn’t need to be some deep analysis of what went wrong and what needs to be fixed. Sometimes, you’re allowed to just enjoy a good game for what it is. A good, entertaining game.
We need a world class CDM asp , to help the back 4 and Alisson.
Is anyone going to mention how van Dijk just stood out the way in the 6 yard box for Villa’s second goal. Yes Mac Allister made a mistake but Virgil should have tried to get over and help block the shot.
He's been shocking but nobody dares to criticise him, like he walks on water. Just feel as a captain he's not up to snuff.

Jones did well in the latter half of last season playing as one of the advanced 8's in the box midfield, but unfortunately he didn't kick on this season and hasn't overall in his Liverpool career. Is it his role? Is he tasked with too many controlling/defensive duties? Does he need to be played as more of a 10? Or is he just not good enough? I'm thinking it's the latter. He's 23 now and miles off the likes of Foden and Palmer. He currently isn't good enough to be a Liverpool or England regular. To me it doesn't look like he'll ever be top class. He'll only ever be a squad player for us imo. And tbh, he's lucky he's homegrown, otherwise his place in the squad comes under scrutiny.
I agree mate!! Jones is at best, a championship player!! Szobo just doesn't look like he wants to be here! I think something is going on with him behind the scenes, I've never been Impressed with what he offers. Wouldn't be bothered if he was sold in the summer.. I feel for slot! @@andrewsmith6015 Maybe Dom is wrecked. A young guy playing Kloppball in the most physically intense league in the world. He'll never have been tested like this before. He's young and this was his first season. We'll see what happens next season, but he tailed off badly this one. Improvement needed there definitely. I agree, midfield and attack are a bit of a mess. Investment in both are required. Only Mac looks like a nailed on starter out of the 4 new guys, and Nunez, Diaz and Gakpo still haven't nailed down starting places. With Salah ageing and Jota increasingly injury prone, Slot has decisions to make.
Based on the comments, I’m so glad I have a different outlook to watching football than most people here. Have your whole week ruined over a fun game and make yourselves so angry for no reason.
