I am so thinking of mixing my own acrylic or oils using pigment powder!!!! Student grade colors are not the best and here in Canada, the price for professional brands are beyond ridiculous! Thank you Hon for the lesson and I love that you use Hardware Store products, which safe a ton of money!!!
Thank you for taking the time to create this demo. Very helpful. Love your beautiful colors. Never would have thought of using the wall paint base, to suspend the mica in without your video, and can't wait to try it. Cheers!
"GORGEOUS" Painting 🤗🤩🙂❤ uuuh , and those colours 🤗🤗🤗 love love love !!! But also so happy to see you again , Dovey ! Keep smiling 😊❤ and stay save Martine
WOWZERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS so beautiful there lass!!! I know it's been a while and you've been busy lol. First time I felt like art at all ...and your video came up! I kind of got burned out doing gardening all summer and then blanching, freezing and pickle making, drying the herbs etc. It was a very very VERY dry summer here so spent a lot of time just watering but at least I have some veggies and herbs for the winter....and apple chips!! Lots of mango and apple chips. I am now prepping for a winter of color......color..............ART ART and more art. I hope you have been well.....it looks like your art is just as beautiful as ever...........and you are an awesome teacher!! So good to see you are still here!!!!!
Hey there Stephie, I have missed you! Glad to see you have been keeping busy. Busy over here too and yes, Im still at it, lol. How excited, gardening! I was unable to garden this year and boy did I miss my home grown tomatoes and cucumbers!! Thanks for coming back to my channel, I really appreciate it.
SHOE HOLDER DRAPES FOR PAINT TUBES!!!!! GENIUS!!!😍😍😍 Now my tubes can come outta the dark drawers they been living in!!! 🤪 Now Ima watch the vid! Just got my mica powders & I have both the PM products. 😁
THANK YOU VERY MUCH. !! I purchased mica powder from the big A. and could not get it to work correctly just using artistloft pouring medium. You have the best on youtube for this fix. thanx again. PS I even subscribed to your channel for this. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😇😇😇😇😁😁😁
I just seen this product the other day. So much stuff out there now a days. Great results with your concoction!!!!! I am going to give them a try. Beautiful blooms !
Hi Dovey G. Your video is absolutely BRILLIANT‼️👌. I found your video simplistic and Highly Informative. I am working towards teaching freely Allll my collective skills. Thank You so MUCH🤲🙏‼️💐Toom@CapeTown
Hey thanks for the info I have a bunch of mica powders that I have mixed with certain paints to give them machine and sparkle but I like using the base paint and the polycrylic and will try that to mix up my own colors as well love how your painting came out was gorgeous
Hello, sure. The base is Artist Loft Flow black mixed with Floetrol and a little water for a thinner consistency. For this 10x12 canvas I mixed 6 oz Floetrol to 3 oz of Artist loft black. I did not measure the water, I added it slowly to get the consistency I wanted for this painting. I hope this helps. And thanks for watching.
I just bought some TLP's and I also have some mica powders but I find everyone has different methods on how to mix them. Yours by far is the most simple. Do you have exact measurements for people like me who have never mixed any of these products before? Thanks. I like to do blooms and Dutch pours.
Thank you Judy. I always look for simple and easy recipes and use products that most people can get from their local hardware store. I believed I mentioned in the video 1 tablespoon of the Polycrylic and two tablespoons of the Behr Deep Base. As for the powders I don't measure exactly and it really depends on the technique you are doing and how vibrant you want the colors. I just used a small scope that may equate to a teaspoon. But I find the more powder you use the more vibrant the color will be. If its too thick for you just add a little more Polycrylic. Do not use floetrol to mix your powders, it will only make them dull. For a Dutch pour I would add a little water too until you get your desired consistency.
@@DoveyG Thank you SO MUCH for your help. I can't wait to go try and mix up a batch of both my TLP's and my mica powders now that I have a simple recipe to use and try. Thanks again.
Thanks for making this video. I learned so much from your demonstration. Now I understand how to mix Mica powder. Do you ever mix Mica powders with Flotreal. I just subscribed and I look forward to more videos.
Yes you can. But it's been my experience that the mica powder colors aren't as vibrant when mixed with floetrol, if that's what you mix your paints with.
I’m confused, can you use just mica for a painting or do you need to add regular acrylic paints to your canvas? I hope that makes sense. Do I need an artist loft color and then a mica color?
Yes, you can use just the mica alone, mixed the way I did in my video. you will get the most vibrant colors. You do not need to add any acrylic paint to the mica mix. I have used an artist loft paint for my base, the color you put on your canvas first and then add your mica mixed paints on that. I hope this answers your question. You can also email me at Abstractnflowstudio@gmail.com for a faster response.
This is a great idea, please ALWAYS remember to use a proper mask/breathing apparatus and work within a well ventilated area when working with mica powder the particles are very small and are very easily picked up by the air and are easily inhaled and bad for the lungs.
For this one I used Amsterdam titanium white and water only. I added water a little at a time for a thin consistency. Also see vid #116, I used the same CA for that piece.
Could you leave it thicker and apply to an accent wall? Do you think? I’m having so much trouble finding a neon ish pink paint for a dramatic wall and I just ordered mica powder in the color I want. Thanks in advance! Love your pours
I believe you can, although I never tried it. But the Behr Deep Base is what is used at hardware stores when they mix your colors. I would use that (the deep base and powder) , mix a small batch, apply to your wall to ensure the color dries as dark or as light as you want.
For this one I Artist Loft Black, mixed with just Floetrol. (it was on the thin side). I normally use white house paint. Pillow: WalMart, Ready to Use White, thinned with water and squirt of GAC 800
Hello, If you are in the States, I purchased the Behr 8300 from my local Lowes. Home Depot also carries it. Visit your local hardware store and ask for any deep base, untinted paint. Dont ask for it to be shaken.
Hello Karen, good question. The deep base is too thick to use by itself and the polycyclic is too thin to use by itself. So mixing the two gives the best consistency for the bloom technique and the best results for me. I have seen others use the JoSonja and other pouring mediums that works best for them. Thanks for watching.
The Behr is an untainted deep base paint. Any other brand should be ok as long as its untainted and deep base. Ask someone in the paint department for that type of paint. Do not have it shaken or add anything to it. Also, I personally do not mix with floetrol as it mutes the colors. Good luck!
For this one the base coat was Artist Loft Flow black, regular acrylic paint. Mixed with Floetrol. It was a little too thin though for a true pillow for a bloom.
For this one I used Amsterdam titanium white and water only. I added water a little at a time for a thin consistency. Also see vid #116, I used the same CA for that piece.
Hello, good question. But sorry I dont know how much powder would actually be needed for a whole gallon. And I did not use paint, I used a deep base which is not a paint but takes on the color of the powder when mixed.

First, thanks for visiting my channel. Sorry for the delay in answering. So... deep base paint is the type of paint that has the least amount of white pigment, which means it is more tintability. This allows a "deep base" paint to accept more colorant and create deeper colors when the paint gets tinted. It has a creamy thick consistency. So really any brand of paint will work as long as it says "Deep Base". When purchasing, do not get anything added at the store and don't get it shaken. I would suggest getting the smallest can they have and test it out. Good luck!!
For this one I used Amsterdam titanium white and water only. I added water a little at a time for a thin consistency. Also see vid #116, I used the same CA for that piece.

Hi I absolutely Love your channel& Love this video! I was wondering can u please suggest some alternate house paints I tried finding the Behr premium plus deep base 8300 and no luck. I did find behr premium plus interior/ exterior deep space hi-gloss. Would that work??? Please help

Do use Australian Floetrol & Amsterdam for the cell activator!?
Hello Sharon, I do not. I have never used Aussie Floetrol. I use Amsterdam paint and water only, mixed 1 oz paint to .5 oz water. Thanks for watching!
wow
HOW DID it DRY Dovey!? Thanks for video & tips!!❣️💣💥
It dried as you saw it, no changes. A picture of the dried results posted on my IG. instagram.com/doveyspour/
VERY educational. May I ask where you purchased the Behr tint? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Thank you.

Where did you buy the behr Premium deep base 8300 I looked online and can't seem to find it with out it being white or some other color?

Why do you have to mix polycyclic and the bear deep base? Could you just use one or the other? Why both?
Hello Karen, good question. The deep base is too thick to use by itself and the polycyclic is too thin to use by itself. So mixing the two gives the best consistency for the bloom technique and the best results for me. I have seen others use the JoSonja and other pouring mediums that works best for them. For this one the base coat was Artist Loft Flow black, regular acrylic paint. Mixed with Floetrol. It was a little too thin though for a true pillow for a bloom.
What does your cell activator consists of? What are the ingredients or recipe? Thank you so much. I really like this painting, so smooth. 😍
