Now this is what I call a perfect ASMR video! I prefer to hear real thunderstorms like this, because sometimes, I've just got to play something like this to help me sleep or to just give me a better and brighter perspective whenever things are really stressful. Thank you so much, and I really hope you'll be able to bring more like this. I'm also a new subscriber. Keep up the great work!
The storm was just insane. Ohio gets some pretty crazy thunderstorms too but we only get a lightning strike like that once but this thunderstorm did that four times and it was absolutely incredible and they did it four times in a row.
If you think that video is insane you should watch my Lightning Lab videos! ⚡✝⚡ 👇🏻 Below is my most recent 👇🏻 ⚡ Lightning Lab #013 ⚡ Houston, TX 🌎 3/22/2024 📅 ruclips.net/video/xip_Yr9U0o0/видео.html&ab_channel=MattWilkins
I hope to record a video like this one of these days, but there are loud and obnoxious drivers where I am, and loud neighbors during the day, and I just like filming the intense storm while holding the camera. I'll probably change it up and just leave my camera on a tripod while I sit inside quietly, hoping there's not any obnoxious people. I hope whatever storm I do end up filming differently happens at night because then obviously there will be less of a chance of annoying noise.
If you use a GoPro on a small tripod you can have a stationary vantage until you feel like holding the camera. Newer GoPro's, and other action cameras, are high resolution, offer large FOV and are rainproof for the most part, just don't open the battery cover in the rain 😆 As far as noise is concerned, usually a storm will drown out noise from neighbors or obnoxious drivers or whatever. You caught some cool lightning in your most recent video. Cheers! ⚡👍🏻
@@wattmilkins I'll definitely try to get something more high resolution and higher quality because footage in the dark can get pixelated. Thanks for the advice, and also for the nice compliment. 👍🙂
@@newyorkstatestormchasers No problem. I'll add that from my experience even recording in 4K, my GoPro has some difficulties with low light at night time, but when there is visible lightning it comes through really well.
But for my poor view within the eyes of myopia, I don't think that's a dog on the cloud. Depending on my vision and to most people. And if it's my clearer view, then it looks like Talking Ben the Dog became a certain god of clouds in the multiverse.
I would pay this guy 😂 for cleaning the windshield so we can see the thunder 📷🧤🧥⛈️ He has such dedication thats why i track lightning myself on lightning maps site! 🗺⚡️
There's only one problem. I think you already know, because it sounds like one of your mics (coming in the right speaker", sounds like it got filled with rainwater. Yikes!
@@wattmilkins Aw, that's too bad. I wonder if you could create a little umbrella tent for the camera so it stays dry without it interfering with the audio/visual? I wish that I could think of something that would not cause any distortion to the audio. Creativity may be the key, but who knows?
I went to UT Dallas for college and lived there for 5 years. The storms in Houston usually have more intense rainfall and happen more frequently. The storms in Dallas seem to have a greater possibility of having tornadoes, although Houston has the possibility of being hit by hurricanes. I would say Houston has the more intense storms just because of the greater amount of storm activity. Additionally, Dallas is more likely to get winter storms and snowfall which Houston rarely receives.
Wow, look at that, not one leaf is disturbed by this colossal thunder storm. Cool composure. I hate these vids with that constant pulsing background hiss. No storm ever pulsed that I've heard and been in.

I appreciate your comment. Thank you!
Just made a playlist -Matt Wilkins Thunderstorms ⚡️⚡️⚡️'.
This IS ASMR, the rain sound alone is lovely, then throw in some lightning & thunder. I'm going to save and play it at night on "Loop".
It's great until the rain starts sounding like an old percolator coffee pot. The thunder and lightning are nice though.
Love it! Reminds me of Florida storms. Don't get too much of these out here in Washington. Thank you so much! Awesome storm❤
No problem! Thanks for your comment 🙂
I moved from WA in April 2019, saw that since then y'all had a GREAT storm, lots of videos on YT for it -- and I missed it :(
This is good to put up on a big 4K TV. Or, even a smaller bedroom TV in case of insomnia. :-)
Thank you for: the video; time stamps & not talking\cursing during this l🥰vely thunderstorm! New sub from Texas! 💛
💛
This is brilliant
Great video. I live in the U.K, and we see a storm like this about once every 5 years! How often do they happen here? :)
We just had a more intense storm actually.
You can watch it here: 🙂👍🏻

Yep. It's the internal GoPro Mic so it's difficult to prevent this from occurring when the GoPro is in the rain. ☔💧📹💧☔

That one looks like it struck really close! ⚡
But I almost can't hear it louder due to this rain being hard enough to blur and disturb its audio quality.
This thunderstorm happened on the 25th birthday.

I guess you've never been in a major hurricane. Although I don't know what you mean by 'pulsing'. Wind gusts, or maybe mic noise?
Ainda bem que não veio com ventos fortes
