I got emotional before watching Derek get his car back that his late Dad worked on. Derek mentioned his grandfather one time and I googled him and saw his Dad had passed away tragically. I felt so bad for Derek and his brothers and family!
RIP Gene Bieri!
Then as I watched the three parts saw Derek stop in the Restored garage in Texas. I recently got ROKU so I could get RUclips TV for the Sunday NFL Ticket and also am able to watch RUclips on my television now instead of just my computers. I've been watching Derek on a daily basis and now know about Restored and will watch!
Thank You everyone for all your amazing talents and work!
Jack
Son and Father team are awesome they go to any lenght to recover vehicles, in any state and make them work. Hats off.
Love having Derek on staff from Vice Grip Garage. Love his humor.

It is nice to see Restored and vgg together for once. Love watching both channels, just don't comment much. Righteous men doing what they love, keep it up I'm watching
RESTORED _and_ Vice Grip Garage together! What a treat! That was an absolutely delightful video to watch. And that sweet ol' girl runs beautifully. Why in the world did they park such a great car so soon?
Over two hours without one single cussword, too. That is how it is done, you young guys.
The trans fluid coming out of the freeze plug could be from the internal radiator tank having a hole in it and when you guys fired it up the trans started pushing fluid through the cooler lines right into your water I had the same problem with a bronco I was building last year, I know this post is 4 months after you guys put up the video but I couldn’t find a part 2 or another video on it so I figured mossel give you guys the idea just in case you see this somehow, hope this helped
Reading this a little late, but I had the same thing happen as well. 1989 Chevrolet Z24. Antifreeze turned brown and the dealer simply flushed it. I told them it was not normal. 6 months later, the transmission failed. Apparently, transmission fluid was leaking into the antifreeze, and antifreeze was going into the transmission. When repaired, dealer found the coolant line within the radiator had a small hole in it.
Yes, looks like the old trans cooler leaks into the radiator.
Derek's gonna get it running. That's not even a question. Guy's a genius...
True but funny says he,s an idot some that claim to be a genius .... lol !
@@motorman1873 Yes & i have No convedents in Not blocking off top of the shrod by front of no. five cylinder

He really is!!!
Derek is definitely a all star. He loves his cars and really humble guy. Hilarious I love his channel it’s very informative.
I was a gear head my whole life went to trade school with gear. Heads we all taught each other. Rjm
There's only1thing i dont like about vise grip garaage they take a bone stock car that's never ben attacked festive the car and rip out the origionl drive train and install a big huge gas pig that gets 13 mpg and lays rubber.. leave them stock tger worth more and better on fuel ⛽
They always seem to think faster Is always better origional is better for me
You are oh so right rip out the origional drive train puta huge moter in it poundthexuprene shit out of it paint it goofy colers in 2 years it on the scrap pile Iv seen a lot of origional
classics destroyed this way tho older classics are almost gone now
Why ruin the rest
@@rickwaldron4255 watch more of VGG, he isn’t just “paintin and racin” as you say. At the very least learn more about something before spreading ignorance.

Yeah, how to do things wrong !!!!!!!!!!!
Derek is the 🤴 ... He'll get this baby cranked back up and drive her back to Minnesota. "RIGHT NOW!!!!!"
If Brad was here the show would only be 1 hour. He would have come but he's finishing his homework then rebuilding a small block at home.
I'm kicking back with a wobble pop or 6 and enjoying this....
5 star programming ☆☆☆☆☆ and
2 thumbs up 👍👍
That’s pretty cool having Derrick over. Can’t beat a Chevy!
They are a perfect team they work well together, enjoy watching both programs, separate or them working together that was awesome
50 years not running is unbelievable that it ran ! Loved watching you guys work on it and get it running !
Restored and Vice grip together what a treat, it was fun to watch!
Can't buy better than this.
Better than any cable tv show
You guys camaraderie and lingo is what makes that car shine
My two favorite Auto restoration Chanel's in one video Thank You
There is a hole in the transmission cooler inside the radiator that is putting trans fluid inside the block
Yup
That would be my guess too, all it takes is a crack in the trans cooler in the radiator......at least it runs!!!
Yup that’s what we call the strawberry milkshake of death.
Yes I agree hole in the trans cooler defo
Agreed, although I thought that was a modern thing...its happened to me twice, by the way.
Derek is a great guy, great DAD & always works for the best outcome.
The smile on Derrick face at 1:23:45 when she started was just as wholesome as they come. I've been a subscriber of VGG for a long time, and that was the best smile I think I've seen. Good company brings good things.
Derek had a big smile, too!
He really seemed happy to be able to share the moment ...and as it was actually happening.
so glad you have Visegrip guy there with you he's the BEST
Any friend of Derek is a friend of many... Subscribed. Really fun watching you fellers {and fellette} put this together. Proud of all of you for sticking with that old girl. She'll run.
Just got home from work a little bit ago and got done watching Derek with his part 2 of the revival on that 1963 Buick. Now to see him working with u guys is such a treat. Great stuff on your channel, keep up the great work!!!
derek always dials it down a notch when he works with others but still a riot and very knowledgeable
I've noticed that too
He’s so full of knowledge and knows so much history on vehicles and the engine parts, it’s totally amazing!
He doesn’t have a chance to script out his dialog.
Your ballast resistor is to keep the contact points from burning, at least that is what they taught us in auto school back in the early 70's. The resistor should reduce reduce the voltage going to the coil from 12 volts to about 6 or 8 volts when running. there should be a wire from the starter solenoid to the + side of the coil so you have 12 volts for starting. These old engines will run for just about forever if you keep them cool and the oil changed. Great to see another one being saved. Great work Guys!!
What a treat watching you three Wise Men work together!
I absolutely love these live feed shows, really takes the intimidation factor out of trying to revive these old vehicles... Just bought a 53 f100 and between you guys and vice grip garage I feel more confident trying to fix up the old girl... God bless you all
Awesome 👌 good luck brother.
Two of my favorites together. This is a blessed day!
Great Collaboration! Christian is doing an awesome job withe the sound, lights, and video production! God given Talent!
You should make a part two and convince Derek to drive it home
I believe he'd do it!!! As long as it's far enough away, 2, maybe 300 miles!!!
YES
"Well I'll be dipped!" This came up when I was watching Derek's latest videos and came across you folks! Love this! Subscribed!
Much love fellow Gear-heads!
As soon as I saw that particular Buick, I thought it was Derek. It's great to see these two TV road rescuers together!
That was the perfect ending last night. Derek saying, 'THAT was weird!'. When Vice Grip Garage says it weird, it's really out there! Looking forward to the autopsy video.
I sat and watched every minute of the video, loved it too. Derek is my favourite RUclipsr, loads of silly "Derekisms" to make you laugh but you know he's got the skills to pay the bills. As far as collabs go this was brilliant, can't have been that easy to spend 2 hours on camera when you guys don't really know each other, that said I love the live format of your new channel, no one else is doing this and it's a very different vibe to the typical edited out video. God bless from across the pond.
Restored and Derrick, well, I'll be dipped.
The rad maybe used to cool the engine and transmission. The radiator could be leaking trans fluid into the water end tank
2 cent worth off mine. This model was the first car I owned and bought in1967.
I like your shows I hopefully to continue watching them
Derek might be dipped, too!
@@bobbyblackwell1062 hopefully?
Guys put some WD 40 on that drivers door hinges
Lance/Dad and Derek! My favorites of RUclips land! Great job as always!!!
It's always an adventure with you guys lol. Love the show and all the antique cars you guys get to restore.
So glad this collaboration happened. I lost track of you folks when you stopped being Turning Rust. Now Ive resubbed so I can see all your content again!
First time at Restored, great episode nice to see Derek working with others for a change, mix it up makes it interesting!, 900K viewers wow! Got to be happy with that well done to all involved thanks for the entertainment Derek see you soon and Restore no doubt see you again Dx

Just discovered this today. Love the partnership between Restored and VGG!
RESTORED FANS: "Seems we'll need a distributor."
VICE GRIP GARAGE FANS: "Seems like a guy could use a lightning whirler."
What about the sparkalators.
Yes it is always good.
Dont forget the lightning hoses
so glad to see yall working together Derek welcome to Texas
Glad to have him in Texas. Howdy from Amarillo!
Together??? When the little guy says "Derek, what's this sorta long slender thing in between the fenders???" Oh that's the power maker that you use to get em to move!!!
I loved the look between Lance and Derek when it fired up and ran smooth!!!
Yeah, that was great. Brotherhood of the Wrench. :)
Unbelieveable after 50 years. You guys did a fantastic work!
Back in 1964, the family purchased a used Bel Air, 6 cylinder with Powerglide transmission. After Dad purchased this vehicle, he watched the oil level carefully in order to ascertain if the motor was an oil burner.
As he monitored the oil, he observed that the oil in the oil pan increased. He related his confusion to a service station manager/mechanic who checked the transmission fluid level which was low. The mechanic had observed this phenomenon before and informed Dad that fluid modular(?) valve on the transmission had failed and was leaking transmission fluid into the oil circulating system into the engine.
The modulator was replaced, and the family drove the Bel Air for the next 8 years without any problem of transmission fluid moving into the oil pan. Back in 1968, an associate (a fellow student) mentioned that transmission modular value failures often occurred in Chevrolet engines in the early 60’s.
PD
When pops handed Derrick that bottle of gas and he said “we might need more than that.” I laughed so hard.
This was a bad ass intro. Derek’s buick rolling up was pretty bad ass
A guy is happy to see two great channels in collaboration. Great episode and god bless.
Not only is Vicegrip Garage a fun production , it's also a learning experience at the same time ! Mark E. Switzer
IT WAS NICE TO VISEGRIP DERRICK TO BE ON RESTORED ALL THE BEST
Two of my favorite shows!! Great colab!!!!
...how can that be? Just saw him driving home that buick lesabre and he made it home alright! (Within hours he was in Texas!) 😀 👍🏼 😷
Hes otw home from LeMullets lol
VGG is the Quantum Leap of fixing old cars
A guy can surprise folks; that hamster runs fast!
EXACTLY! He barely made it home in the LeSabre with the tire delaminating!
Transmission cooler leak inside radiator for a long period of time. Someone kept topping it off over the years not knowing where it was going. I think I had this happen to some car I had in the past. I was mostly worried about the antifreeze in the transmission fluid. I think it may hav been on a dodge snow commander. And all I did was diagnosis and gave it back to the owner and I think he was going to buy a newer truck
WASH,,cutt polish,,steel wool all that beautiful chrome..."DAILY DRIVE"..👍
Maybe add a few more lug nuts too 🤣
I would repair the floor pan too. I like having intact feet.
@@mightymikethebear Extra thick & oversized carpet will keep you "safe enough" for a few rides, maybe throw a piece of plywood underneath if you're felling a little hesitant ;-)
Growing up, my family had a lime green with white 'pleated' tail fins '57 station wagon. I loooved that car. It had A/C - 4 windows down and 60 on the speedometer. There were no seatbelts. So, when some rain fell after a prolonged dry spell, the car (with my brother driving) skidded and rolled three times. He said, 'I braced my legs, planted my feet and went for the ride." He came out unscathed. The car didn't. It took care of him. I'm thrilled another one might make it back on the road.
My boy Derek is in the building I watch all his videos & his show roadworthy he’s my favorite RUclipsr the coolest dude ever!!!
Damn This was a well produced live stream. Really impressive, hopefully catch the next one. Definitely worth a sub 🤘
Hope you get her on her feet.....we had a 57 Chev wagon when I was growing up. Same color as the one your working on. Had a 3 on the tree and a 8 under the hood What a blast to drive. Good menories. Bless ya'all.

Loved this video! Having Derrick made it all the better!
Just watched Derrick freeze his tail off rescueing a old Buick, mush have to go south to warm up. Great video, am a fan of all you guys channels.
What a team I’m having fun just watching you guys talk it’s always a blast vice grip, garage, mechanic extraordinaire and the team wonderful keep up the good work it’s more fun than eating rainbow ice cream with a straw
Oh my God just found this the two guys I look for everyday
The knowledge that Derek has is amazing. I would love to have some good conversations with him about automotive topics.
Me too
Me too
Me three
He is a very smart man!!!
I am thinking the transmission cooler in the radiator has a hole in it pushing ATF into the coolant.
How much for the 57
Agreed transmission cooler bad
Sure enjoyed this one guys. My two favorite channels at that.
I really like when RUclips channel creators get together for episodes. I think its a great way to promote and really it helps both channel creators get noticed. I watch visegrip and several others in the special interest of saving these old relics for restoration even modifying. Thanks to both of you!
Yes, I'm a VGG subscriber as well as this Restored channel, so it was great seeing you all work together. Hope we see more of the same one day!
Great Collab totally enjoyed this video.Great to see Derek on the channel cheers from Australia 🇦🇺👍
Most likely is the radiator if it's automatic transmission fluid coming out of the freeze plug!
they didnt have lines power glide
I love seeing the guys team working together to restore these automobiles when they were made good and simple good work guys
These Guys Must Be Loaded.!!!!
Man the ultimate video!! Why am I just finding this!!!
Man my top 3 people in one video that's awesome!! What I wouldn't give to hang with these 3 guys for a day!!!
Subscribed because Derek. He is a legend.
Derrick acting all serious. Its a new version of him lol. Nice job guys
Love you guys!
Great episode. Should do more with Derek. Great job on getting the ole tri five running again.
I'm thinking trans cooler leak, and its pushing fluid backwards and into the block. Hope ya get it figured out.👍🇺🇸❤
I'll take old school any day the next hey get the worse they are there latest tecnoligy and the newer vehicles of today all junk I've seen shit today you would never see in.old school ever just junk
Thats awesome that you teamed up with Derrik. He is awesome. The man knows some stuff and he’s funny as hell too!!! Thx for the gr8 video.
Another reason I love old Chevys. Good job guys!
For the love of all that is holy, put some WD-40 on the drivers door hinge's.

Wd-40 isn't a lubricant.
Wow. Idling down to 400 or so rpm after all these years is amazing! That little engine is tight!
Most younger guys don't know how to work on older rig's,, a guy really enjoys the channel.
So hard to work on old cars yea right. Throw gas in it and spark all you need mechanical fuel pumps mechanical oil pumps what 5 fuses on the whole car if that?. Throw any of these guys on a car built this decade hell this century and they would be lost as a 3yr old in the mall.
Not to disrespect what these guys do. I'm here because I love old cars. My first car at 15 was a 1967 tempest 3 on the tree. Got me a chilton and started teaching myself. Moved on to a 56 bel-air 2 door post and a 1954 panel truck after that. So all respect to old cars but to blanket state that a young mechanic would be lost in old cars is ignorant.
@@diemaschine2287 those old Chilton books are PRICELESS, I think I have hard covers from 55 to 75 I have a shit ton of paperbacks, one for every hunk of junk I've owned for 30 years mostly trucks, thanks for the memory spark!!!
I'm a big fan of both channels. It was a real treat to see them all working together. Some great mechanics working on that car ! 🚗
I did the same thing Paul S. Then I realized that since I had to do a reset on my phone awhile ago I have been trying to get back all the channels I had, and this is one of many I've been trying to remember. Thanks Derek. 😎✌️❤️
Anytime these boys collaborate, I just subscribe. It’s so cool to see these enthusiasts create a community especially from Texas to mn. Big fan of Derek and now subbed to this channel. Now I want to go to Texas..... ;)
The production value of your video's are getting better every time i tune in for a show. I loved the collaboration with VGG Derek you guys. VGG (vice grip garage) is an awesome channel aswell.

As soon as you put both wheels on the drivers side, the car came to a whole new life of its own!! Badass!!👍👍
Wish I would have watched it live. That vice grip going "post to post" is driving me nuts!!! TAKE IT OFF!!! TAKE IT OFF!!! They ain't listenin'... LOL!
well yeah this is true mate and yes i did see it live in melbourne o.k..
The transmission fluid in the cooling system comes from a leaking oil cooler in the radiator. Had this happen on a car from an auto auction
Edward Chuhta Ran in to the same thing on an Audi at a shop I worked at about 23 years ago. It had a separate water to oil cooler mounted between the radiator and transmission that filled the trans with "strawberry milk" Replaced the cooler and drained/refilled the transmission about five times until the fluid stayed bright red, and the transmission actually worked OK after that.
With this much beard power, there's nothing you can't do.
nice to see you there Vice Grip Garage
Being from Nova scotia a car that old be all but toast, but one story. About ten years ago a neighbor tore down an old barn . But first pulled out an old tractor, and a Chevrolet/55 to a 1957. Peach and white, interior, raccoon heaven, rest solid, went cheap I heard, $1000,and it took couple weeks. Loved this video, God bless.
If you can get it running is Derek gonna driver her home
I would like to pray for my brothers at restored. Father God please bless my brothers. Any vehicle that they put there hands on Lord please let them be blessed and bring back to life. Lord watch over Restored finances and bring abundance to the shop and the crew in their time of need. Keep my brothers safe and in good health in this time of uncertainty as well. Thank you Father God in the name of Jesus. Amen.
The transmission cooler in the radiator is broken. Transmission fluid is being pumped into the coolant.
Fiddlerpin
Exactly what I was screaming at the TV at that time,it happened to me.. I took the bottom tank off the radiator and patched the oil cooler tube and put 'er back together,,,,,no leaks, water or trans fluid !!!!!!!!!
