As soon as I saw that little red house garland, I said to myself, "That looks like a Scandish Home decoration!" I met Noemi (after watching her videos) at the Scand -fair in Portland, Oregon several years ago, and she put me in her video (which was very embarrassing!).

Shannon, hanging the lights vertically is genius! It draws the eyes up and makes the tree look bigger. My kids are 13-25 and it's the little things that they remember. Cutting out and decorating cookies, making eggnog, Midnight church service and opening stockings on Christmas Eve, Christmas movies, new board games. I love your ideas.

We buy a new decoration for the tree each year - every item on the tree has a story to tell, and decorating the tree is one of our Christmas highlights.
I love your Christmas decor and especially the woodland wreath, but I can't get used to seeing someone putting up Christmas lights while wearing shorts and flip-flops! It is super cold here and we had snow over the weekend.
Snow would be so fun (since we don't get it here). It's cooled down here a lot, but still in the 60's. =)

It's so fun to see my boys teach each other things. They even teach me new things all the time too. =)
As usual, All so lovely & cozy Shannon. I love how you don't overthink and make simple additions/ changes, like with the kitchen curtains. That fabric is adorable. You have seriously made me think harder about getting a sewing machine for very simple things like that! I also love how the whole family is all doing something to help. It reminds me of how our kids used to be..they were SO excited when I got the ornaments out. Our tree is a live frasier fir from menards, 5-6 feet, cute and slender. It has lights but still waits for ornaments bc I do it more slowly without the kids at home now. And oh my, how Grant puts up those outdoor lights with such ease?! No worries about him falling off of the roof, right?!
I like all white lights indoors but I have always dreamed of having multi color outdoors, just something simple like y'all have. We have a simple brick ranch & I'm not sure how to hang them on the guttering. In our neighborhood, some people pay to have lights put up & we are much too frugal for that😮 Maybe someday; Grant makes it look so easy.
Oh! Am getting ready to buy pecans at Costco to make your cinnamon pecans to hand out, yum!!❤❤❤ Happy Tuesday 🤍🌲☃️
Oh, I can't wait to make those pecans too, they are so good. I don't make them often because I eat too many. Our lights are really easy to hang outside because our home is low, but my parents have a 2 story and that is hard! I can see why people might hire someone for a tall roof line. I like October 31st bc I don't care for Halloween so it makes me happy to have the positive focus of Christmas ❤❤❤ Also, it gives me two full months to enjoy the full Christmas spirit since the Fall season ( pumpkins ) got the two full months of September & October.

It looks great! We bought a pre-lit tree in 2005. The last of the lights finally died this year. We add our own light strings now, but plug it into the string that came with the tree to use the on-off pedal. :)

No wonder you and Cathy & Noemi are so creative, great with colour & come up with wonderful ideas - you’re all artists! I have a stack of Christmas cards from my parents - tried to give them away at a yard sale but nobody wanted them so am keeping them for craft creating & decorating. Cathy would remember when we cut out paper dolls & made daisy chains. My grandmother lined shelves with cut out paper decorations overhanging the front of the shelves. Simplicity can look & feel so good! Thanks for bringing cheer.

I made my granddaughters Christmas aprons with the same fabric as your curtains! It’s adorable! I am new to sewing and I am adding it to my Christmas gift giving tradition. Last year I made four stockings for gifts. I made Scandinavian Christmas star ornaments for the first time too. They are easy and fun. My childhood memories include making ornaments and gingerbread men with my mom. Children make Christmas extra special. This year my motto is keep it simple! Merry Christmas!

Cherish those moments with your mom. My mom has passed on and I miss her so much. We use to do crafts together and that holds so many good memories.
I am so sorry to hear about your mom. Every time someone leaves me a comment about losing their mom I start to cry. I am also not a great cook, but I have quite a few staple recipes that I can throw together. In most cases, we make the same food that involves meat, but just switch it out for fake meat or leave out the meat aspect altogether. =)

You are so relatable and I love that you are so family driven. Did not realize your family doesn't eat meat until today watching your video. When did you decide to quit eating meat and was there a reason why?

Kathy - what fiber do you use for the lettering on the ornaments? Yarn? I need to add lettering to my kids’ stockings, but embroidery thread is much too thin. I’ve never seen a green hydrangea here in the upper Midwest. Probably because they’re all frozen and long gone before they have the chance. Poor things. 🤣

Love it! I take down all of my regular decor before putting up Christmas decorations. I whittled down my decor to three totes, plus one for winter to enjoy after Christmas. My tiny house looks festive but not too overdone. I bought a new tree this year after using a small thrifted tree for 15-20 years. I love it. It fits nicely in a corner tha5 I cleared out/decluttered this past summer!
