Great ppl, always warm and friendly, lots of Cuban cuisine, delicious as well, a place where you can learn that you can easily have a different culture (more or less different), language maybe, maybe some different foods, music might be different (but very warm), dancing as well, but THAT does not make them less American, that's the beauty of America: THE BEST MELTING POT IN THE WORLD.
YES, a lot of politics within this very hot subject, everybody knows that most of non-Cuban Hispanics do not like Cubans, mostly b/c of this very rule:

But those that hate Cuban-Americans always forget (or rather try not to acknowledge) the political system in Cuba for the past 50+ years, a country with NO POLITICAL FREEDOMS OF ANY KIND, where the CASTRO COMMUNIST GANG has been killing or at least imprisoning everybody who disagrees with their extreme views (yes I know, Sean Penn, Michael Moore, Harry Belafonte and lots of other left-wing loons would strongly disagree with me), so that's in Cuba ONLY, no such lack of political freedoms anywhere else in Central or South America, Mexico, Haiti or Dominican Republic included, personally I am strongly AGAINST lifting the Embargo until the good ppl of Cuba start enjoying the very same FREEDOMS we in the West have been doing for so many decades AND, sadly, take them for granted now.

Florida at that time. Been living in the greater metropolitan NYC area ever since, but would trade living in the Big Apple for Miami any day. Boy, how I miss you Miami, think of you every day!!! I'm not an expert in cultural differences btwn Cubans and Mexicans, but what I know for sure Mexicans don't have any good feelings for Cubans and I've explained why in the video info.
I guess music is pretty much the same but again you gotta be either Cuban or Mexican to make any statement whatsoever, I'm not one of them so I stay away from cultural issues I'm not part of. Food is great but spicy like hell.

1) Hispanics are "projected" to be the largest demographic if current trends continue. However, as of right now, they only constitute around 16.3% of the total population and I think around 12% of the voting population. The reason so much emphasis is placed on the Latino vote is because in the largest and fastest growing states, including many swing states (FL,TX, CA, NV, CO, NM) Hispanics are larger amounts of the population than the nation as a whole and now even in states like VA and OH,

Therefore, in order to remain competitive, the Republicans need to carry those states, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to win in those states if Hispanics and their growing numbers remain growing. There is some truth to what you suggested, so your information isn't entirely wrong. It is absolutely correct that Dems have been gaining among Cubans, and younger Cubans who did not see what Communism is really like are more susceptible to an entitlement mentality than older Cubans who know how precious individual liberty is. Bush in 2004 won 73% of the Cuban vote, McCain in 2008 won 65%, and Romney won 59%. An unfortunate trend. Let's hope it's just due to the GOP's recent faulty campaigns.
