There were TWO horns in the package, being that I live in the Colonies, It seems to me that you would want to connect BOTH horns, and test them together 🤔
Also worth mentioning a battery charger typically does not make a very good power supply especially without a battery attached to it. To clarify I mean any sort of modern battery charger
I bought those from the ad a couple months ago. One was broken on the bell. I put 12 volts to them and they sounded just like a regular car horn. I complained to the company and they said they couldn't take them back due to Covid and offered me a 30 percent refund. I told them they sure could send them out with Covid. Long story short, I had purchased them thru PayPal and reported it to them. PayPal ended up refunding me my money.
I have the same Horn Blasters on my 05 Cummins and run them at 150 PSI with a 7 gallon air tank and they sound Awesome! Thay truly work! They are the next best think to a Nathan Air Chime for the price that's for sure. I put 2 under the door outside the frame on the drivers side and 2 under the door on the passenger side. And the air compressor and tank in the bed of the truck in a custom made enclosure. Keep up the good work and stay warm brother...😎👍
No matter what horns you’re testing remember you need a pure DC current and voltage. A battery charger is not Pure DC. You need pure DC right off of battery to be fair to any test that uses DC voltages.
And a basic understanding of physics. Sound is air moving in vibrations. If you put your hand over someone’s mouth, does the tone of their voice not change? If you put a thin piece of plastic, which vibrates at a much higher frequency, into a bench vice, made of cast iron/steel, which vibrates at a MUCH higher frequency, you are diminishing the natural vibration frequency of the plastic. Ofcourse it will not sound the same. It’s physics.
Thank you for posting this video. It helped a lot of people save money because they now know that the cheap horns are crap and aren't worth buying. I actually saw an ad for those horns today on facebook so I searched for a video review on those horns so I could see if they really sounded like they claim to. Clearly they don't. So thanks again for posting this video
well, if you want a better result, try put the positive and negative charges of the opposite side the he tried them on, makes it a lot louder and sound much better.
I am not defending the horns or the manufacturers, but to help others in the future, there are 3 things in this video that negatively effected the results. 1. A battery charger can supply the proper voltage, but not the current to properly drive the horns. 2. To function properly, the horns must be mounted on the metal straps provided in the kit; they must be able to vibrate in use. Clamping the stud in a vice will mute the volume considerably. 3. They are designed to be used in pairs, one high tone and one low. This will replicate the sound properly and double the sound output. Obviously these are not as good as air horns, but in motorcycle or scooter applications they are far better than the stock horns.
I wired a set of air horns on my Goldwing. I used the lead to the stock horn to power the relay. A quick push of the horn button would play the stock horns. A long push of the button, would also sound the air horns. It worked well.
5:53 - I love the dual tone sound just hooking the lead up to one horn. That commercial is hilariously hilarious. No way in hell some electric horns would sound like that nor would they be 300db...I mean that would probably be breaking some concrete at that point.
Thanks for the review as I bought them already (2) for my golf cart and after viewing your video review I wasn't disappointed as I figured it was a scam, but I think they will be better than my current horn in the golf cart.
Thanks for posting about the air horns. I saw the ad for those goofy horns, and figured they were little more than toots, but its nice to know for sure to steer clear of that junk. Great video, great info.
You should have swapped the connections round it would have made a,slightly better sound! I've got these on my Vespa and they are loud not train or truck loud but still loud. Also using bow horns does help. However a steibler would be much better
Thank you for the video. I didn’t read all comments, I did see the one that said O. L. stands for Open Lead. I’m pretty sure it stands for Open Loop, which means what goes out, doesn’t come back.
Hahaha that was epic😂 I was excited to hear what it sounded like you touch the positive and the you had so much power the fan just locked up I guess. hahaha that buzzing.
Your 12v horn had a buzz that matched 60hz. Likely because you used a battery charger to test it instead of using a DC battery. If you still have them, try them with DC current from a battery.
I don’t want to add a compressor. What is a good electric horn to add to my truck? Has anyone tried to hook up a large capacitor to supplement some power to an electric horn?
The point of the video was just to show that the sound they advertise in the video is nothing like the real sound. They use adds from hornblasters haha
As those also seen ads for Chinese train horns on facebook when they spent over $30 for horns that was to replace the factory horns when it was almost as loud as real train horns those can get from horn blasters.
Thanks for the video! 👍👍. I bought the same pair from Amazon for £3-99 (GBP). I was going to swap the existing horns on my Mitsubishi Shogun, however, after seeing your demo on RUclips I think I’m going to install them in parallel to the existing horns! Comments welcome! 😂😂🇬🇧
It sounds like there's a 60 cycle tone in there from the battery charger, and you should have tested them both at the same time from a battery. (But it still wouldn't be like a train horn, affect those a tri-tone?)
I'm in the states. What's the best way to start working on diesels? I dont own one either. Been looking for a cummins buy pretty pricey. Also, aren't those horns supposed to run on 24v?
If you get a real good air compressor your horns will be a lot louder. I have the air horns on my truck there great . I even put a air chuck on it so I can fill my tires when needed .
They pulled the audio and video from hornbalsters own ads. Thats funny. 😂 I have the black rhino train horns on my semi from hornblasters and i love it. The best sounding air horn i have heard so far.
I went to the airshow in Oshkosh Wi. and there was a airplane with train sound when it took off. It was great and everyone looked to see if a train was flying.
Got the one from horn blasters they make one for a motorcycle and I love it $60 easy to install you won’t regret it everybody gets a kick out of how loud it is
This video sucks I’m sorry. I didn't think it would get any views.
I have some super sweet merch here though darkirondiesel.com
You only tested 1 theres 2 one is low tone and one is high tone
Nah it didnt suck bro lol. Might put those on my outback.
What type of train was 5:22-5:29?
So does anything made in china . Just bought a 30 ton hollow ram and it pisses oil every were same as my 20 ton one i just bought fucking chinese shit

Yep, probably dual tone
I bet they have 2 different sounds when combined and mimics the sound of a train, but not the volume.
Colonies?

Off to keep the Covid and just send them the horns back.
paypal good :)

Yep, there's probably between 6-8v of AC ripple on the charger.

A lot of money... or 30 dollars?
well, if you want a better result, try put the positive and negative charges of the opposite side the he tried them on, makes it a lot louder and sound much better.
Thanks. I was literally about to order these!
Well it’s common sense that it’s not a “train horn” a train horn uses air compressors

He tests with probaly a charge with 50hz harmonic. 12v Battery is a proper!
I wired a set of air horns on my Goldwing. I used the lead to the stock horn to power the relay. A quick push of the horn button would play the stock horns. A long push of the button, would also sound the air horns. It worked well.
Did you plan it that way or does it just take a bit of time for the air to spool up?
Thanks you, I almost bought one to test out. Thanks for saving me $30
OL actually means Open Lead.
Edit: I also saw a 600 db horn ad XD. For the record, the loudest possible sound in open air is 194 decibels
Bro you are freaking hilarious. Loved the vid, thanks for the laugh..
Sounds better than what's on motorcycles these days... replacing the scooter horns on my bike with these
I have a similar set on my motorcycle. Way louder than stock and people definitely hear them.
Haha seen those ads before. Looking forward to the video when you install the big ones! I want to put train horns on my cummins someday.

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about lol. Electric everything is better. Electric motors on boats are safer and faster.
@@FoundationsofPause You must've been drunk when you made this comment. Never once did I say anything electric was bad. 😆
@@ViperJay5 I think I missed my target for sure on that one. Sorry
sounded like a barge horn, still cool for 20 bucks usd. didnt even hear em in tandem.

They sound about right for a golf cart.
Probably the coolest golf cart I've never seen

Thank you for doing this review you saved me some money!
How much, approximately, did the set of 4 air horns cost?
Did you try the two $30 specials together? They may have different tones that make them sound like a train......... or not.
Typically, one is a low notes and one is the high nite. He only tested the low note.
My thoughts too, I've bought a pair so far untested but surely for a true sound they should have been wired together?
Thank for good honest review much appreciated 👍
"If your going to do this... use earplugs!" ha ha great advice! Thanks for the video too, saved me $30
You have to put the set on for the real sound because even the Benz horn doesn't sound like a Benz horn if it's only one testing
He tested it with a battery charger...............unless it has a start mode, it won't sound right cause a charger pulses
Lol, what??
You should have swapped the connections round it would have made a,slightly better sound! I've got these on my Vespa and they are loud not train or truck loud but still loud. Also using bow horns does help. However a steibler would be much better
I ordered it to upgrade my road runner meep-meep motorcycle horn and the one you tested is way better than the stock motorcycle horn !
Thank you for sharing this was very helpful ✌️😁✌️
Thanks man, tempted...
Your awesome.
Thanks for your video you just saved me money on those cheap Chinese horns
Thanks for the review! I was going to get them, but not now !! 👍🙋♂️🖖🏻

"out of limit", or "over limit".
Hahaha that was epic😂 I was excited to hear what it sounded like you touch the positive and the you had so much power the fan just locked up I guess. hahaha that buzzing.
there's two horns to be mounted and used together just like the other 4.... you took the low tone and left out the high ... shows deception
Plus he has the wires the wrong way around

Bro I watched your video for the first time and I laughed that much I feel sick.. u got me following ya lol
That’s awesome buddy 😂
I've been researching horns for the past few months. I'm sick of people texting while driving & veering into my lane.
Yes it every day l wish I had something loud to scare the hell out of them.
have you found a good brand that doesn't take a lot of money or work ?
I bought the same ones. Haven't installed the 1 I purchased. Thank you. Hornblasters coming next
wow I nearly fell for those horns ,,,many thanks Conan UK
How many amps were you pushing? A lot of budget horns have no kick until you hit them with 12V at a minimum of 15 amps.
Did you try hooking it to a constant 12v? Was it any better? The charger connection is a pulsed 12v so it won't be the same.
The point of the video was just to show that the sound they advertise in the video is nothing like the real sound. They use adds from hornblasters haha

O.L. means "open lead"

I was gonna say “Open Loop” but yea, same difference.
It actually means "over limit" my non mechanical friend.

Thx for d headsup! Cool Video!! - but did you ever connect both horns....??
OL on a multi meter stands for open loop if I’m correct.

How long do the compressors last on the hornblaster horns
OL?? Not overload. Open loop for resistance (ohms) measurements or over limit for voltage or current.
