I didn't expect this scene, and I definitely didn't expect it to hit SO hard. Loving someone who doesn't even realize you love them, not being able to find the words to tell them, not being able to show your emotions openly...and then this one moment where she can come out from behind the facade if just for a moment...it's heart breaking
Fiona gaslighting Yor making her feel worthless was really shameful of her. Yor has a good heart not bringing Fiona’s manipulative lies to Loid and letting the situation go after Loid reassured Yor about her role and importance in the family.
Fiona nearly screwed up the whole operation for the sake of her obsession. If a supposedly happy married couple had suddenly got divorced, and Loid found a different wife when the mission was already underway, then everyone in Eden academy and the secret police would've gotten totally suspicious. Loid got knocked out cold from having to clean up Fiona's mess when he was with Yor at the bar. I hope the day comes when Loid shatters Fiona's ego by telling her that her bad parenting skills would've made her a bad candidate for operation STRIX. If it does come to that, I have a feeling that it will happen when Anya gets abducted by the people who kidnap her.
To be fair, both "loid" and nightfall were spy, so they much more priotitize on the mission than actual family life, loid isn't good either since most of the time yor is doing all the work. but fundamentaly loid is still a better parent cause of experience, if nightfall were the wife instead of yor, then both are in the same book when it comes with parenting
I think it's mentioned in Chapter 35 that when Twilight was looking for a wife candidate, he never considered Fiona as an option because he knew she would make a terrible mother "except perhaps by the standards of Ancient Sparta" 😁

Man, We all know where the story is going with the Loid-Anya-Yor dynamic; specially Yor and Loid slowly building and discovering feelings for each other and both gradually acknowledging Anya as their child as much as Anya already considers them her parents, but Fiona's feelings for Loid are the most intense and outright authentic there; she is one who really understands him and THE one who since before the beginning of the story has been authentically in love and wishing to be his wife. Poor woman, I hope her feelings are acknowledged and after that she gets a happy ending, maybe a possible future Fiona/Yuri ship? Who knows?
I can see it happening for plot reasons. Nightfall might need to get regular info from the secret police. It would cause plenty of drama. However, I don't see her never figuring out Yuri is secret police to maintain it long-term or let herself forget about Twilight. Twilight has likely already informed WISE or will inform Nightfall directly if she doesn't figure out herself.
Ultimately, Nightfall and Twilight together is probably the end game unless by some miracle all sides figure each other out and don't end up killing each other through sheer luck and family dynamics. Loid could be forced to make that future of Anya and Yor being told of his death a reality at anytime if he gets pulled from the mission or gets too close to getting caught to salvage, prompting him to fake his death to keep the two together.
Come on, Fiona, I'm sure there's another secretive, skilled, obsessively focused, handsome man out there you can marry... perhaps... a certain Yuri Briar?
I doubt that, Loid is the best guy in the series so far and Fiona knows how good he is while Yor is getting to know him to be that good. I wouldn't mind if Fiona and Yuri would end up as a couple but I don't see that happening at all unless the creator force it somehow.

You know looking at their skill sets. It is pretty clear as to WHY Fiona is not the right partner for Loid in this mission. Spies: Their job is to be QUICK. Out of sight. Out of mind. Assassins: Literally are definition of Laying and waiting. They are to carry out their mission when they least expect it. And to leave no trace of an assassination of a target. I am not saying this out of spite for Fiona. For Loid taught her how to not show your emotions or empathy for that matter. Fiona may or may not have a sibling. But she did raised herself. Loid and Yor learn each other's secrets. Yor is taken to a WISE agency to talk about what to do about Anya. Fiona recommends blowing up the building where Anya is being held because she thinks that the kid will rat them out. Yor pins Fiona to the table of floor with a needle pointed at her neck saying. Yor: Try that, and I'll make you suffer a fate far worse than death.
I forget if they answered this but….why *isnt* Fiona his wife? It seems like a much better idea. I get that they probably didn’t have any agents who were children or could pass for children, but why not have two agents who could be the parents? The way it is now he has to account for two X factors he can’t control instead of one. Not to mention that the fact that he found a random age-appropriate woman who was fine pretending to be his wife while *actually* helping to raise his “daughter” is kind of crazy and weird that nobody at the spy agency has questioned it. My first thought would be that she was a counter-agent.

There werent any suitable female spies available when the mission started, fiona wasn’t available either. Wise apparently lost a lot of agents, they said so in the beginning in the anime. Twilight isnt a novice spy, he sussed out yuri being a secret state agent within the first meeting with him, handler trusts twilight and is confident in his people skills.

Spoiler Alert for Fiona In the manga, She Broke her arm and leg protecting Loid from the enemy spy who nearly killed and exposed Loid and the enemy was so strong, Fiona seeing Loid being knocked out enraged her and attacked recklessly and broke her arm next her leg and won the fight.
Technically she isn't wrong. She is best to be his wife since Twilight is doing all this for the sake of the mission. How Anya feels is irrelevant and technically Twilight is just using both her and Yor for the sake of the mission.
