In this video I describe how I perform Heel sticks for Newborn Screening Tests or Blood collections using micro trainers. I am not a professional or an educator but I wanted to share what I do through my experience. Working with children can be challenging but newborns and infants can definitely be an even bigger challenge. It is not impossible but it can be a bit tricky. It is crucial to learn how to do heel sticks because it is a type of blood draw that we perform. The only difference is that it is on our new little people who are brand new in the world. Every job may not just be open to any phlebotomist working on newborns and infants but do not feel discouraged. Find out what you need for that certain companies requirements and go out achieve your goal if you are really passionate with working with children. Every procedure may be performed differently.
