You are dead right Mark. It makes my blood boil. Why on earth should our daughters have to consider their behaviours because of the creeps out there? I have a 21 year old son and 24 year old daughter. I have brought my boy up to treat women with respect, which he does and he is is not afraid to speak out. Unbelievable how many of his friends haven't been though. 😡😡😡😡
Yes Mark! It makes me sick to my stomach, I remember being harassed weekly around that age starting from about 13. I’m 29 now and it rarely happens, in my naivety I thought this was because the world was changing but it’s actually just because these men target teenagers. We need stricter harassment laws and a greater police presence to make women feel safer on the streets.
SO well said Mark. I work so hard to make certain that I'm raising my 7 year old boy to be a kind, gentle, respectful person. It's working. I can think of 5 instances instantly of 'Me Too' moments growing up. Many more if I dig deep at the stuff I shrugged off. I was desperate to see the world at 19. Traveled around the world alone. Very hard as a female. One of many incidents was two police men wolf whistling across the street in Mexico. I just wished I was a man so I could see the world unthreatened. It happens EVERYWHERE to ALL women. I now worry about my 5 year old daughter. Thank you for speaking about it. Please don't stop xx

Well done, i grew up very rulefree except for my parents often telling me to treat people nicely and especially be respectful to girls and it have worked or my mom probably would have given me a beating :D And if your boy grows up right you dont have to worry as much about your little girl, big brother will be there to protect her :) The best way for young girls to grow up is probably to have a brother that is a couple years older because we all know that kids never tell parents everything, but having a older brother growing up in the same area he is gonna know what people she should not be around and he is always gonna be there for her.

Mark thank you for your rant, I have totally made my boys aware of their behaviour, after seeing me beaten & abused by their father & the talks I've had with them.. they are so respectful of women... So of one thing came out of my beatings is that I Brough up two very kind & respectful men xxxx

I can remember being as young as 13 getting harassed by men of all ages... some old enough to be my Grandfather. Disgusting.
So sick and disgusting, Maddie is tough and i know she can handle men as long as they dont get physical, but Kiki is growing up so fast turning into a beautiful young woman and is not so tough yet, and she is at the age when some men unfortunately gets disgusting.

Mark, you are absolutely spot on. I am nearly 64 years of age and I still remember vividly the 'creeps' learing pretty much from the age of 15 right through my teenage years to my 20's and on. Not now of course but it still angers me that the 'creeps' think its ok I have 3 boys and they wouldnt do that , they just wouldnt. Bloody insecure creepos !!!

No apology required, Mark. I got my first beep from a creep when I was eleven. I innocently looked in the direction of that car, and my sister told me that you don't look when you're beeped at - tragic. How disappointing to know that, now at the age of 54, this harassment still happens to women and girls.

As a woman of 39, I hate being outside my home alone.
Even the thought of taking a walk to the local shop which is literally at the end of my street, it case of only if absolutely necessary. I won't go anywhere alone, I feel safer being out with my fella or a male I trust but even then having anyone else walk near me, be it behind me or just passing it kinda makes me hold my breath for a second. I'm not sure if that makes any sense.
I was indecently assaulted by a random male when I was 20. I don't think he was ever caught.

I agree a woman should even be able to walk naked without getting idiotcomments or groped and harassed, even though going naked outside is illegal. I grew up relatively free with not much rules and never having punishments such as grounding and stuff from my parents they do not believe in that, but they and my mom really had 2 rules i had to follow, always treat people with respect and dont be a bully or mean to someone, you dont have to like everyone and you never will but dont treat them bad, and especially treat girls respectfully or my mom probably would have given me a beatdown :D And i have always lived by those rules and that is the way it should be. As a single man at the moment i have no problem telling a woman i find her attractive and ask if she wants to get to know each other better, but girls around my age, never would i whistle or grope or say dirty comments that is so disrespectful. I know Maddie is tough as hell and can handle guys as long as they dont get physical, but Kiki is so young still and have not got that toughness yet and she is at the age where men can be really disrespectful, and shes growing up so fast, turning into a beautiful young woman. I dont have any children but honestly if i had a daughter i would most likely get a shotgun knowing very well how men can be.

So agree with you Mark 👍 it is happening everywhere 😥 girls / women have to deal with this on a daily basis, no matter where you go, there is always a few creeps around. I come from a family of 9 girls and throughout my life I have learned to ignore them, give them no attention what so ever. I always made sure I wasn't out on my own and had an older sister/ friends with me. Thank god now for mobile phones, at least you can call someone if you feel threatened or in danger.
I also get annoyed at the comments about, it's not all boys. Of course it's not! I am raising two sons and I am not the least bit offended by a rant like this. I agree 💯! I have raised my teenage boys to respect women and I have explained that the way to demonstrate that respect is to ensure that the ladies in their presence feel safe. How do they do that? They do not approach singular girls as a group of boys, they ensure that they cross the street if they encounter a woman walking alone in a quiet area, they do not stare or leer or make comments about the appearance of women. They understand this and do not feel slighted by the suggestion in the least. Young women should not have to prove their value or connect the idea of safety to modest dress. It's like saying a bank teller asked to be robbed because she showed up to work in a bank. Let's stop shaming women/girls and start raising real MEN! If I can teach my son these concepts (who is neurodiverse on the autism spectrum), then anyone can do it. I think you are an excellent role model in this Mark, your girls are lucky to have you. Nadia I pulled our new mattress out exactly the same way last month! LMAO! Lisa and her chair rock! Just sayin!
