- Answers to the following three questions regarding audio in Blender.
0:30 - "How to import audio into Blender?"
1:50 - "How to set it up with scrub with the animation play head?"
2:13 - "How to output a rendered movie to have the audio?"
I am using Blender version 2.62 on a Mac.
1) In Blender how do you import audio? (0:30)
- Open the blender file that you need to import to.
- Switch from the 3D view to the Video Sequence Editor view.
- Click the 'add' menu item.
- Click the 'sound' menu item.
- Locate the sound file that you want in import into your project.
- Click the "Add Sound Strip" button.
- Make sure that the strip start where you want it too. In my case I want it to start at frame 1.
- To adjust the position of the strip hit the 'g' key while you mouse is over top of it to 'grab' it and move it to the position you want it in.
2) How to preview the audio when moving the play head on the animation timeline? (1:50)
- Switch back from the Video Sequence Editor view to the 3D view.
- I expanded the timeline view a little bit here.
- Click the 'Playback' menu item.
- Click the 'Audio Scrubbing' menu item.
- When you scrub the play head the audio file will play.
3) How do you output a rendered movie to have the audio? (2:13)
- Switch to the 'render' properties tab.
- Click on the file type drop down in the output section.
- I added a simple test animation to confirm the rendering was working.
- Switch the output type to Quicktime.
- Click on the Video Codec menu item.
- Set the codec to H.264
- Click on the Audio Codec drop down menu.
- Choose the codec that is best for your situation. I go with AAC.
- Adjust the bitrate to suit your needs. The higher the number the better the quality (but the bigger the file).
- Make sure you have set where your movie is going to be saved and given the file a name.
- Click on the Animation button to start the magic. Хобби

I'm kinda getting an asmr vive from watching this. Nice tutuorial, and thanks.
The scrubbing works fine, but if I just hit play, the file is ahead of itself! It doesnt follow its own vawes and my 9sec audio is done in 5sec... ?? Is this normal, should I just ignore it or will this be the end result..
If I animate to the scrubbing, the animation will last 9sec and the audio 5, if its like it is now.. what should I do?
OMG THANK YOU THIS HELPED SO MUCH AS I MAKE INTROS!!!!
ItzlukeyYT MCSG you make intro's .....or your starting to make intros xD

Audio scrubbing is on but i have a problem. When i click somehwere on the timeline, the audio plays from that point though the animation is paused. Can you help?
not only is your video awesome, I greatly appreciate how you take comments seriously. But the last edit made the description messy, this is what I actually meant (also, I like your titles):
0:30 - "How to import audio into Blender?"
1:50 - "How to set it up with scrub with the animation play head?"
2:13 - "How to output a rendered movie to have the audio?"
Great Tutorial, this helped me make my animations. By the way though, you should have a youtube logo, it's not hard do.
You help me with my film - song.
THX WHAT ANDREW BOLT SAID THIS WAS WHAT I NEED TO KNOW
This video was helpful, but not thorough. For those that messed up, the missing steps are. Part1Open blender go to video editing go to ADD tab choose images and load up your image sequence; this time change format to video(i use xvid), fix your size etc, check frame rate if video is too fast use custom to change;then animate, u should get a video file. Part2 Open blender same, but load video file instead, then load your mp3/wav, set vid format to xvid and encoding>audio codec>mp3,animate, happy!
Excellent Video, Thank You !.. Once I insert a sound track, how can I remove it, and/or adjust the volume ?
Wow you explained every thing -_-
Ilove it alexxrr
You helped me with my film but you don't need to switch to "3D View" if you want to click "Auto Scrubbing" in "Playback" because "Playback" is in "Timeline".
How about the audio/video sync feature? (a/v sync) why didn't you mention it in this tutorial? Anyone has an idea?
I followed your guide completely i am also on a mac and for some reason even after i render my audio does not play. i pulled my audio from itunes i dont know if that matters. Any idea how I can fix this?
deadlygeek is there a way the music or audio can play even tho you dont do any animation movement?
Thanks a tonne mate!!! you are ace!!! BTW could u do a tutorial on how to add textures into blender. I think you should have millions more views than u have now!
PS if you want i'll try and show u my animation i have made
Hey bro, make sure you have Quicktime installed in your system. I ran into the same prob before.
Hello, I am using the same version as you in the video and was able to get all the way to the spot where you select video scrubbing. But after that I cannot find the menus to finish my project. I'm sorry for being dumb but I'm really new to this so any help would be awesome. Now when I hit the play back button the sound and animation are all synced up the way they should be. I just need some help with the last part.
nice one. And do you know how to change the audio output in blender ? i mean i do have bluetooth headphone attached but audio is still coming from main laptop speaker. Any help on this ?
Sehr gut tutorium, (i wanted to see the output), but what program do u need to play that file type? will windows media center work?
I should also add that when I click the render button and then the file format. That quick time does not appear as an option for me to choose.
I am new to Blender and want to import my sound to the animation and I do not know what version and type of sound I can add? would you please help me please ?
What if I have my blender template but the audio is a separate file?
When he said "Presumebleh" 😂
Hello I need help when I import the music into the animation and I rendered it and the sound wasent there please help
