Thanks for the video Didier. I have been to Faizalbad many times but by helicopter. I'd like to go by motorcycle. Building one as we speak. I am wondering about distances between fuel stops in these more rural areas. Any trouble getting fuel southeast of Faisalbad? What about hotels, guesthouses? English understood? Thanks.
martin sinclair, basically you can travel freely in Afghanistan only in the Wakhan Corridor. You enter and exit in Ishkashim (Tajikistan) from there you can ride as far as Sarhad-e Broghil which is around 200/250km on very difficult trails with many river crossing. I did carry extra petrol with me so I didn’t have to buy any. You probably can find Guesthouses in the bigger towns but camping is the best option.
Nice take, i really enjoyed this. Among things the whole border crossing at Iskoshim was very interesting. I logged the video in with the location of the bridge on our map of Afghanistan while I am working to create it. Andrew, funny that you mentioned the English couple coz I have just received news from them, Here is their message. Bad news…☹️☹️☹️ Unfortunately, Alissa had a pretty bad crash earlier this week here in Nepal. Her Royal Enfield landed on her right leg and twisted her foot 180 degrees backwards - leaving her with a severely fractured tib and fib. 🤢 We managed to get help from local villagers and call an ‘ambulance’, which was basically a jeep with a bed in the back and no medic. With no painkillers, we turned Alissa’s foot back the right way round and hauled her into the back. It took us over an hour to get to the nearest ‘hospital’ … off-road. Which, as you can imagine, was pretty horrific. They couldn’t treat her there but gave her a temporary splint. At 1am we made the decision to get to the capital, Kathmandu, and a proper hospital. 🤕 We paid another ambulance driver to get us there (again with no painkillers). It took THIRTEEN hours of driving on terrible roads, peppered in potholes, bumps, maniacs and cows to get to the hospital. Every bump crunched the bones in her leg and the entire drive was a sweaty, agonising mess. She went in for an emergency operation and they inserted a titanium rod through one bone and a metal plate onto the other. We’re happy to say the operation went really well and Alissa’s foot is now happily pointing the right way again. 👍 We're thankful that it wasn't any worse, she’s recovering well and has a smile on her face. We’ll post an update soon, thanks guys! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The Pashtu music and song recorded in the beginning of this video is unrelated to Wakhan corridor. Wakhan people's language, culture, music and even their musical instruments are completely different than Pashtu speaking people's who belong to northwest of Pakistan and South of Afghanistan.
