Thanks for the review Stef & Ed! We would definitely put Stef on the 157 Otto, as the 161 is too big for him given his height/weight/boot size. It would help with the transition from edge to edge in icy conditions. Stance plays a role too... don't be afraid to mix it up on a KORUA and try something new ;)
"It's like a piece of art!" makes me laugh since I remember the days when most of the rental boards were plain white. What is old is new again!

The 161 is a big jump up in width at 268, I wear 9.5 boots and the 157 width is at 260 which is perfect for me.
How does it compare to Capital Mercury? Base, grip, response on ice, track and powder? Above all, I like to go down quickly and not suffer with the plants. Some trick but little

I have one, it is great for everywhere, good turning board...stiff though, and a bit heavy

Took me a few runs to get used to the Otto in icy conditions at the Aussie snow. At 5'7 about 70kg, 153 was a touch big/stiff for me to use at the park, but was amazingly fun at side hits and groomers and obviously carving!
Can you get smaller than 153 in this board?

@@mattmitchell794 Unfortunately not at this stage, ,but it's still manageable. Don't get me wrong though, it's an amazing board, pushes me to get better at it :)
Great review! Love Korua. But recently I’m looking for a powder board to ride through the trees and deep powder in Hokkaido. So among dart, pin tonic and hovercraft 2.0, which one is more suitable? I’ll be so grateful if you can give me some recommendations.❤
So, would you day this board is not good for icy condicions? It's funny cause I thought It was good for It and Im considering this board for my Freestyle all mountain days (being a carvy Cruiser freestyle oriented). I ride a Nidecker concept most of the days in the Pyrenees.
If you're looking for freestyle all-mountain days with cruisey carves at the heart of it then the Otto is about as good as they come! In terms of ice, there's still a decent portion of camber between the feet, but the extra width might not make it super agile if you're dancing down the ice. But then again, who buys a board for riding ice?! Get it for the groomers, the kickers and good times in the pow!
The ‘ice’ Dtef described eas really horrendous late season melt freeze, so to be fair to the Otto I think pretty much every board would struggle.
Hi mate. Used to ride a Saloman Dancehaul (with Now Orion) but I found it too soft and chatter and I am in trouble to avoid some skidding while heel side turning. Once I'm not carver proficient I would like to go to a model that helps me progressing. Need something that is accessible cos I just ride 15 or 20 days per season. From Korua line, what model would you recommend (I have watching all of your Korua reviews and I'm lost). Should I go to an Otto, Transition Finder, Pencil or Dart? (considering that my main issue is holding the tail in heel side carving). I'm 55 years old, 5'9" and 170pounds; ride with 0º backfoot angle. Any advice would be really appreciated. Cheers.
Any suggestions for a more playful version of this board that excels in carving in all conditions including icy conditions?
I heard the GNU riders choice is good with the serrated edge and asymmetry

Hey mate, I’m 6”3 80kg. Was thinking of getting either this OTTO 161cm or the OTTO Plus 157cm. Does the 161cm sound a bit more my size or could I work with the 157cm. Pretty good snowboarder, first time buying though.
You said 161 was too big. How big are you mate?
Stef is 177cm and 74kg… I would say the choice depends very heavily on where and what you plan to ride. If you want to prioritize speed and stability go the 61. If you want that versatility to play and be a bit looser on side hits and the park go the 57…
You could ride either size, we would probably make the recommendation based on your boot size, and your regular riding conditions / styles. Drop us an email if you have more questions!
Guys, what boots is he using?
I was wearing a K2 Maysis boot.
I guess the 153 would be too narrow for the testdriver
The Otto actually comes in pretty wide, even in the smaller sizes, so he could probably get away with it, especially for some resort riding. But the extra surface area and volume of a larger size might be better for riding in powder.
Thoughts on a newish rider getting this as their first board?
Did you get it? What's your opinion?
