Thank you for this review, the place looks amazing. My husband and I are going to Secrets Cap Cana for our anniversary this November but we have this on our radar for next year.
You're welcome! Having been to this resort it makes us want to try some of the other Secrets resorts as well! I've heard good things about the Secrets Cap Cana!
Yes, it is a great video, Thanks. The video was made on a rainy day, which is surprising, beacause we do not have much rain at all in punta cana. That' s why the atmosphere look so gray in some part of the video. But the hotel is awesome. Thanks.
I didn't film it, but the day that it was pouring rain I spent an hour alone in the hot tub (while everyone else had retreated to cover or their rooms) and it was one of my favorite memories from the trip!
Great video thank you for sharing with us, I agree with you on the tipping 1 or 2 dollars goes a long way for this workers I always bring lots of dollars bills when I go to Mexico & punta Cana remember this people don’t make much at those resort!
Absolutely! I would say needing to carry cash is probably the only downside at resorts for that reason, but it’s a worthwhile trade off at a place like this where the service was just so good.
Great video ! Thank you for sharing ! I agree with the tipping. Please tip the workers, they all work very hard ! Bring lots of 1's, 5's, 10's with you ! CHEERS ! 🍹
You're absolutely right, tipping is important! On our trip, we budgeted around $25 a day for gratuities (drinks, restaurants, housekeeping, etc.). Tipping customs vary, but coming from Canada we're very used to it and it makes such a difference for people who work at these hotels. The staff were so good and attentive everywhere we went that we wanted to show our appreciation as much as we could!
Could you provide some insight into the nightlife at Secrets Tides? Are there night shows, live music, or parties, or does the resort quiet down after 9/10 PM? I know it’s primarily a couples’ resort, but some evening energy would be appreciated. Also, from your experience, what’s the typical age range of guests?
Thanks! There were different shows each night (a circus act, a Tina Turner Tribute, a Madonna Tribute, and more). I would say the shows were fine and enjoyable for a night out, but nothing that blew me away. There's also only one bar that is open past midnight (Desires), so while I wasn't there to experience the night life and it wasn't a factor in my love of the resort, I do think other resorts have better and a wider variety of night life.
Thank you the video was great my wife and I are going in September resort looks great. After seeing your review of the resort I'm ready to go now. How long did it take to get from the airport to the resort?
I hope you have a great trip! The trip from the airport to the resort was about 45 minutes. We had arranged for a private transfer with Nexus in advance, and it was extremely painless (walked out of the airport and found the Nexus team who took us to the transfer vehicle). You can also arranged for a MUCH cheaper shared transfer, though I've done that in the past and had to wait 90 minutes at the airport for another party to join us before we could leave so I wanted to avoid that to be able to start the vacation as quickly as possible.
@@CVDL Thanks for that info, we always use a private transfer for the exact reason you stated. We can start our vacation sooner and don’t have to wait around for other people to arrive before we can leave on shared transportation.
I thought so! You get an additional pool, a much quieter beach front section, a second private bar, and access to Oceana for an al a carte Breakfast. We took advantage of all those things on our stay!
Anyone have any comments on how Secrets Tides compares to Secrets Royal Beach and Cap Cana? Personally I prefer the beaches/water in Bavaro and Cap Cana to Uvero Alto area but this resort looks wonderful.
There wasn't a casino on site and I didn't try to go to Breathless during my stay, but I did hear people could maybe arrange with their Butler to get a day pass for Breathless. However, I can't speak to how that worked (or if it was dependant on who you talk to!)
Unfortunately the services at the Spa are additional. We received access to the water section with our purchase of the Neck/Shoulder/Back massage which was $230USD each (though we received a $40USD voucher for spa services at checkin bringing the price down to $190USD each for a 50 minute massage).
Our room was shared with only the room next door. There are also swim outs at this resort where you share with multiple neighbours - which is usually how I’ve seen it at other resorts, so sharing with only one other neighbour is actually quite nice!
While I'm not qualified to provide a definitive answer to that, I do remember all stairs had ramps nearby. However, I'm not sure about how to access pools or any other particular accommodations. I'd recommend contacting the hotel directly! Sorry!
@@Lucexcellent22 There is a gift shop on site that sells Cigars and there is also Uvero Alto Plaza which is a 5 minute walk from the hotel that sells Cigars.
It sprinkled a bit most days but only had heavy rain one day. I believe May is the rainy season in Punta Cana but I believe the rain comes in short bursts and then is sunny otherwise, like it was on my trip.
I'm not sure if this URL will work, but here: www.hyattinclusivecollection.com/en/resorts-hotels/secrets/dominican-republic/secrets-tides-punta-cana/ If the link doesn't work, you should be able to google "Hyatt Inclusive Collection" and find Secrets Tides under their Secrets Brand page.
Its a damn shame when people don't tip. Its not as though you have to drop a $20. A few dollars will do, but the service is worth far more. The staff works hard and they are very cordial and accommodating.
In my experience the hotel staff only expect tip from americans, to tip is not part of most cultures in the world and it's definitelly not expectes in central and south american unless you are in a restaurant, and even this way is optional. That happens because if someone has a job is it expected that the employer will pay them for their job. So I've seen several resort staff treating american in a worst way when they don't tip and treating the rest of the guests nice even if they don't tip or the completly opposite, they gave more attention to american guests because they know they tip for every kind of work.
I just wanna say, excellent music choice. I was dancing the whole time 😂. Also thanks for the review. This resort is on my list !
Glad you enjoyed the music! I hope you get to visit the resort one day!
This is a GREAT video! Your selection in music is fantastic and you've convinced me to book this resort. Thank you!

I hope the patience paid off! Haha. You'll have an incredible time!

The rain was definitely rare! Punta Cana is beautiful!
So glad to know this! lol. I noticed it was somewhat cloudy.
Thank You for sharing. Great stream. Looks very relaxing. LOVE a good hot tub.

We were there in April of last year!

Can’t wait to spend my Honey Moon here!!! Thanks for the review ❤
I have no doubt you'll enjoy it! Congratulations!
Thanks for this video. Can you tell if Barefoot Grill serves more than just burgers and hot dogs?
how much will the preffered update cost?

I'm heading to this resort on Saturday, does anyone know if there is a dress code for dinner? Mainly if my husband needs to bring pants lol

The staff should have told you it can rain hard for a while but it passes and I’ve experienced it a few times it’s famous for it there .
Do you know if there is access to the casino at the sister resorts or is there one on sight? Thanks!
