Most people in their teens and 20s are taking better care of their cheaper cars than most people who buy what you would consider "real" cars. I've never seen anyone go the extra mile to protect a freakin corolla... or wash it by hand themselves. However, old but loved nissan silvias, subaru WRXs, mazda miatas, rx7s, modified cars of all sorts tend to have owners that care about them a whole lot more than corollas do, they are kept cleaner and better cared after. Buying a Corolla (or similar) is the start of stopping to treat your car as a real car and starting to treat it as just another appliance you're obligated to have.

Do your research before you buy otherwise if you say something like that to the dealer they will take the opportunity to rip you off. I've heard of people who've walked into a dealer asking for the cheapest mustang on the lot and the dealer went and sold them an ecoboost for 30K.
