The Tetris Theme was adapted by Horokazu Tanaka for Nintendo for the classic game Tetris. Based on an old Russian folk song, "Korobeiniki", it's become better known as the music from the highly addictive game!

Korobeiniki is usually in a different key and is missing the second part of the Tetris Theme. They aren't completely the same, the Tetris Theme is its own arrangement so calling it "Tetris Theme" would be correct, while calling it "Korobeiniki" would be misleading for anyone trying to find the original.
Also if you guys think that he didn't know that it was based off Korobeiniki, read the description.

It was adapted from korobeiniki. The Tetris creator adapted it differently from the original song, so while they sound vastly similar, there are still minor differences.

Dwight Jack while parts of the original arrangement feature parts of Коробейники (as well as Калинка) some parts are different. The Tetris theme was inspired by these Russian songs though.
