When I encountered Gades for the first time back in the day, it took like 10 minutes for me to make the first input because I was blown away by the awesome battle theme. To this day, the Sinistral battle theme remains the best battle music of all time in my opinion.
this battle can be done at lower levels than that :p Your setup is just a tad bit off of what I would consider optimal, but it's pretty close. This battle is a freakin war of attrition. Also, this mix is pretty swag.
When I first saw the Trailer of Final Fantasy Versus 13, I thought Lufia 2 would get knocked of the throne of being place 1 among all games I've ever played. 12 years later, Final Fantasy 15 came out, and I was wrong. Still my favourite game.
@@LancerD1984 yea, it wasn't BAD. But it was not as epic as I imagined it would be. Like, when I saw the trailer from 2006 I was HYPED. But the second half of the game, funneling into the end, it just felt kinda wrong. Sorry. But maybe a lot has changed since then. I didn't even revisit the game for royal edition, so maybe it got better.
I recently got my SNES working again and after hearing Gades is beatable first fight I trained and trained till everybody was level 30. Tia and Maxim got rekt quickly but Guy and Selen held on to the end. Strong/stronger is better with less people to heal so I healed up fully after each attack and I could deal about 252 damage with guy. Damn BLAZE ran away but not first turn luckily.
Credit to the Japanese band "S.S.H." who actually made this song. They called it "Battle 3+2" and something ENTIRELY different in their language. ssh.ne.jp
I remember I damn near shat myself on seeing this big bastard for the first time.. Course, he totally spanked my ass first time round; when you fight him later though, the dude's a complete scrub! Talk about character decay...
Haha, there's two versions of him in the game code. The second time you fight him, you're not just stronger, you're also fighting a much weaker version of him! Of course, if you manage to beat him the first time, the item you get for it is well worth it.
Is it actually possible to beat him the first go around? I've always assumed it was scripted (cuz, well, I think you are supposed to get whooped) and it was impossible to actually drain away his health. What item do you get?
You can definitely beat him, although he does that "defeats you outside of battle anyway" thing that games like this always do. It takes a good bit of preparation and a good approach. The winning strategy seems to be having Maxim and Guy attack (with IP attacks when possible), and have Tia and Selan spend every turn healing: the slower one (probably Tia) should do a party heal after Gades moves and the faster one (probably Selan) should do a target heal on whoever got targeted before Gades moves. If your characters can all survive a hit from the destructo wave and your fast healer can reliably move before Gades does, you can win. The reward is the Gades Blade, which is a very, very nice sword for Guy that he'll use for a very long time. (I think you can also get it from blue chests in the Ancient Cave but good luck with that.) edit: seconds after posting this I realized I described the exact strategy being shown in this video. it works, it just takes a long time.
it works faster and easier if you just let tia die after she used some buffs/debuffs. because she heals a lot less than she takes on dmg per turn, so its cheaper to just let her die. that way its possible to beat him with much lower lvl. yea buffs/debuffs are realy important in that battle.
Seeing this again I feel sorry for Tia being friendzoned like that. In my mind, she got together with Dekar after everything was over and they lived happy ever after.
Tia is a kinky little girl with her whip, I wonder why Maxin choosed Selan Instead... I would either try to pull a Jade Empire here and take them both or go for Tia no questions asked.
Fighting that guy for his sword was full of horribleness and save states, but I did kill him after what seemed like an hour or rock paper scissors tactics.
overhealing of Guy. BTW: why TIa survives? I beat gades with level 29 each and foomy one step below this one. Anyway: in my version tia dies and it makes no sense to revive her. Which is useful: She does not gain EXP which is great though she leaves the group soon. I had other equip,... but who cares.
I'm going to be honest this theme and the game it self is the greatest game I've ever played ♡
Listened this during my workout.
It felt like the whole world is counting on me.
It was a MAJOR improvement in my performance!
benched 75lbs instead of 65?
@@nathandiaz3446 Lol with this track? Dude benched the whole gym. x'D

Thanks YT algorythm, for showing me this over a decade after its release. ❤
now this is an amazing remix of an already epic battle theme
I like how you included the regular boss theme aswell... Nice touch :D
i find it awesome that he put the normal boss music in this remix as well
I got to say, this guy has done a really good job on this.
He really put in alot of effort into it.
Damn! This is awesome! I know I've heard this somewhere before. Probably on one of those "best of" music lists. This theme ROCKS!
Seeing Tia positioned next to Selan in the battle menu can't help but make me chuckle.
This game had such an interesting premise to it.....
How the hell did it take me this long to stumble across this rendition!? My socks were just blown across the room!

Love ganking Gades the first time around to get the Gades Blade.
Best version i've ever heard so far, congratz , straight to my mp4!
This hits as hard as Simon's Theme from Castlevania, and it has every right to

I love FFXV, it's among one of my favorites but Lufia II will always be #1

Something about this sounds off, like the percussion is out of sync with the instrumentals.
Anyone here from Achille12345
