I’m not a big Tim McGraw fan, but this has to be one of the best versions I’ve heard of this song. From an avid Cars fan, thank you, Tim. Beautiful.
The ultimate respect or homage to another artist is to not try to duplicate or replicate a song or make it your version of the song . But to actually feel that song inside of your heart and your soul and communicate that through your instruments . What you are seeing here people is musicians truly absorbed into emulating the essence and beauty of this great song . " Amazing"

Love the way the musicians all bob their heads and lean into the song. They look like they’re having fun - pros just enjoying themselves and the song and the time.

hey Tim. I was just saying to my brother that I think a different version of this song would be so cool. And especially if it were a country singer did it. nobody mentions the other original singer of the cars who sang this lost his battle with cancer on October 3rd of 2000 almost twenty years to the day Tim does this great cover😢🙏
I also like the beginning with the lapslide guitar it almost had a little George Harrison sort of vibe to it personally to me those first opening licks..

Right. I think Ben sang lead on about half the hits for the band. For some reason, I always had a hard time telling Ric and Ben's vocals apart.
@@jeffjackson9679 yeah there's definitely a couple of them where it is really hard to tell who was lead.. just what I needed is a perfect example..

I was properly introduced to you, Garth, Tina, Alan Jackson etc.
I of course returned the favor and properly introduced her to Black Sabbath, Van Halen, Pink Floyd and my favorite pop band, The Cars.

Tim’s voice is one of those when you turn on the radio you don’t have to wait till the end of the song to hear who it was You definitely know right away when you hear his voice. Amazing! this song was made for that slide guitar. just an amazing texture to an already amazing song. sometimes you stumble on things on the internet that change your whole view. this did that with that one guitar

That was so awesome. The musicianship of all of them is inspiring to watch.
This is and will always be The Cars, but gotta say Tim and the boys killed it here. 9.8 for me. Fantastic, the only thing I would have loved to hear would have been some background whisper/vocals "who's gonna drive you, who's gonna drive you" on the chorus's and "bah bah bah" on the bridge. Those elements added in it's a 10 for me.
