growin up on my family farm in around the mid to late 90's they had a 1688 and it sounded just like that you could hear the exhaust from quit a distance
Nice footage. I ran a 1460 for a long time here on small grains and now run a 2388. My brother still runs a 2166. Everything the operator said about service and maintenance is correct. I believe that was the competitive edge that case had over other brands of the same era. Being able to rebuild your own machinery when needed is a huge benefit to the small family farm.👍🇦🇺
I love seeing a 6 row corn head. It’s underrated for what it’s worth. We have a drago 6 row corn head for our gleaner s 96. It’s easy to move, easy to put away, easy to turn around, and doesn’t take up a lot of room on the road.
Our neighbor had a ih 1660 great combine but was showing its age so they bought one of these with hardly any hours just two years ago. It’s really pounds through grain. I really enjoy the harvest vids. Wish my grandpa didn’t get out crop farming a couple years ago. He had a 9500 jd. But at-least we still do hay!
I'm a Deere guy though and through. But when this series came out, Deere knew they had a problem. There were a lot of Deere combine guys in my area that switched from 9500s or 9600s to these. Solid combines.
The cab update with the rotary threshing was a big deal. John Deere came back in force in 2000 with the 50 series STS combines. Deere put a bounty on Axial-Flows to buy up market share. I recall seeing a lot with a few hundred 2100/2300 series lined up all traded for STS combines.
@@bigtractorpower Most definitley. When the STS came out they began to take that back. When the 60 and 70 series came out, that's when a lot of IH guys jumped over.
We used to run a 2166 with a 25 foot head with a 6 row 30 inch corn head we also used a 1660 with a 20 foot head and a 6 row 30 inch we got rid of them when we had to sell the farm
The grain bin extensions are an add on. The original bin is level with the cab roof which is 180 bushels. I have a 2388 with the same extensions and I believe it is around 270 bushels.
Years ago I was told by a CaseIH rep that came from the case side that Tenneco owned a tractor company so they bought IH for every other piece of farm equipment!
That's it, I've got a friend that used to run the IH dealer in town and he said Tenneco Case just wanted their combines, planter and haying equipment to go with their tractor line up. They continued to make 94 series that were just painted red and label Case international. Steiger was a great bonus as the steiger tractors had built quite a name by then. The last of the original Case designed was replaced in 88 by the new magnum which incorporated the 18spd powershift, cdc 8.3 engine, and a rebuilt from the ground up frame and cab. The 18spd powershift was the ihc sts just with more clutch packs. The 8.3 was cases baby as that was the new motor for the 96 series which never made it except for the 1896 and 2096. The cab was the same frame as the 88s with the interior being based in the case style cabs. It was basically a Ih ass end with a case front end and a ih cab frame with the case style interior.
Love that Cummins diesel sound. Spent 2 summers in a 2166 on a wheat harvest crew in late 90s. Thank you for the video.

2166 may be the best combine ever built
It’s one good machine.
Another great video, I also enjoy seeing some of the older and smaller equipment
😁👍👍
We have this combine and out of all combines we’ve had this is my favorite one to operate.
Great machine! Ran one since 2000 and upgraded this year to 7130. Miss the ole girl with that Cummins. Never let us down!
How are you liking the 7130?
@@bigtractorpower Just a couple minor issues is all. Otherwise like it a lot. Huge step up! Run twice as fast through same corn compared to 2166
Great video thank you for posting. I really enjoy watching these smaller machines like this work in the fields
Love to see the 66 series👍😉 the steiger on grain cart duty looks awesome😁👍
The Wildcat 1000 is a rare Steiger. Nice harvest team.

Thank you for watching. The 9500 is a solid combine. 👍👍
Those were some good combines. We had one new in 95 and it was a dream to run
Very cool.
Watching harvest videos in January. VERY NICE!!👍👍
I work for a local farm here in Minnesota and we use a 2166 just like the one in the video to harvest corn and soybeans.
Very cool. Thank you for sharing.
Another great video!! Keep them coming
2166 love the combine
Great Video, Love the Steiger Tractor & CaseIH 2166.

Nice combines. Did you run the 2166 and 1660 together or did the 2166 replace the 1660.
@@bigtractorpower we ran them together
My uncle runs a case ih 2166 a very good combine
😁👍👍
Watched just to hear that Cummins one last time!
Case IH 2577 here. Corn, soybeans and wheat in southern Ontario.
Very nice she's a beaut 👍👍
Now THAT is a grain cart tractor
😁👍👍. Rare Wildcat 1000. Only built in 1986.
Like the grain cart tractor!
We ran a 2166 for about 15yrs and upgraded to a 2388 2 seasons ago.
Very nice.
I know the sound of that feeder house chain slapping anywhere! I run a 2144 in corn with a 4 row 36" Geringhoff North Star corn head.
First and we run that same combine cool to see something a little smaller
Thought the grain tank would be bigger than 180 bushels. I can’t imagine how often he has to unload, especially in high yielding corn.
The grain bin extensions are an add on. The original bin is level with the cab roof which is 180 bushels. I have a 2388 with the same extensions and I believe it is around 270 bushels.
Cual es el precio de cortadora o recoletora de maiz
nice crop machine
😁👍
The first combine I ran was a 915 International .
Very cool. A 915 combine is tops on my combine wish list to film.
Years ago I was told by a CaseIH rep that came from the case side that Tenneco owned a tractor company so they bought IH for every other piece of farm equipment!
What I’ve heard is sorta the same. They wanted IH for the combines and Steiger for the articulated tractors
Case got rid of their tractor lines as well when they annexed IHC.

what is the price of case IH 2166 axial-flow combine harvesting corn
I use a case ih 2166 with and 20ft platfor and a 8 row corn head i grow corn and soybeans and have 500 acres of land
We run a 2144 on are farm for the last 4 years. Only corn
Very nice. I hope track down a 2144 to film sometime.
I have this exact combine on my channel
Is the engine Cummins or International harvester? FPT wasn't around at the time.
It is a CDC engine. Case has a joint venture with Cummins. This engine was in the 7100 Magnum tractors.
@@bigtractorpower thank you Jason. Appreciated
I am interested in the case IH 2166 axial-flow combine harvesting corn
👍👍
Not use to see a 2166 IH combine, the farm by me runs a 2588 IH combine
The 2588 and 2577 are good combines.
Even though I'm 14 I like seeing the combine i drove when i was 12
I got the first comment woo hoo lol... love the videos keep em coming
